I am just returning to the game after a very long absence. I am playing the Grand Campaign as France and in 1867 I have Dai Nam (Indo-China/Vietnam) in my sphere of influence. I am aware of the new system of colonization and am wondering how I will be able to make Dai Nam a full fledged colony?

In Vanilla HoD, yeah that is your only option. Mods like PDM make it a bit more nuanced, and you'll get events/decisions to make it happen.

Does FIC have any good RGOs? I know Siam and Burma have some nice ones. About the only advantage I can see is to give your pops a place to migrate to.

Yeah. As I recall, the main reason for the interest in Indo-China was that it was very rich in raw materials.

Heh, yes French Indo-China. I was recently in the Axis and Allies biards and it's refered to as FIC; same for Dutch East Indies as DEI.

Has anyone playing HPM (or I guess NNM too) actually seen what happens if AI France is allowed to take FIC? I know they get Cochinchina Concession event right after Nat & Imp, but do they continue to the full thing (Nam + Laos + Cambodia) if you let them?

I'm asking because I've always taken Nam before the French (basically cutting off any events they might get concerning FIC), but I'm wondering if it is more infamy-efficient to just let France take all of the pesky fractured countries there and then TAKE FIC from the French.
