I'm playing Italy 1.06.

I have (futilely) tried to extricate my army in Abysinia by smashing a way through Egypt. I succeeded in my offensive through Egypt and Sudan, but I was stopped sooooooooooo close to Abysinia. Anyhow, France had fallen and Vichy set up. I could see two French armored divisions rushing through 0 infrastructure provinces in the Sahara, but I didn't worry too much about them. However, once they reached the Nile they suddenly started taking over provinces which I had garrisoned! Their cutting off my supply was a factor in the stalling of my offensive, but worst of all one of those 0 strength divisions took over a province in which I had based my airforce and it was wiped out! 3 basic tac bombers and 2 basic fighters!

Should this happen?

What do you mean by garrisoned? If you had troops there, then the ghost div which are zero org and zero or close to zero strength should have been killed.

You can and should bomb them when you can to kill them. And you should always station a militia or inf div with your air force to prevent weird things like this.

It shouldn't happen but it still sometimes does. And it's happened to all of us at times. Load a saved game (I hope you're using monthly autosave!).
