After vichy france is created, i still run into french fleets all over the place....I suppose they're not destroyed because of the AI naval attrition cheat, and according to the diplomacy screen I'm not at war with them....so what gives?

The reason is pretty simple, not all Fench colonies become Vichy. The Free French is still alive and my guess is that they got control over parts of the fleet too...

If that's the case, then its fine and not a bug, but if the french fleets aren't converted cause they're not in port(or something) and now aren't going away because they don't suffer naval attrition, then it might be something of a problem.

I'll wait to see what "they" say...

Actually its currently a bit messed up.

Generally places like Cayenne, Tahiti and some of the french west indies remain "french" proper.

They get granted the entirety of the "old france" - so, often around 40 divisions of infantry and 40 odd ships - plus a few planes.

These , of course, are incapable of being supported by the IC income of those tiny couple of islands... but as the ai now "cheats" - they drop to zero org but dont die (ships, soldiers or planes). The French ALSO retain any expeditionary forces - so those british expeditionary forces also get stuck at zero-org but undying - and can be placed anywhere from tahiti to stuck on the uk mainland under "french" control... that control being able to do : absoltuely nothing at all as it has no income of ICs.

So its a double whammy - screws the french and hurts the english... resulting in lots of annoying units wandering about with zer0-org and all-but un-killable as they run away at the very first round of combat.

Now seeing as Vichy France, meanwhile, has zero of any troops of any type at all.....

thanks darkmoor, I knew there would be a pratical application of that supply bug! I posted a msg awhile ago stating that i thought the supply algorithm was bugged because even with no resources on the map at all(hence no IC, hence no supply), units were not being destroyed! I'll pm the moderators on that and try to get their attention again...

I have a sneaking suspicion(somewhat confirmed by the AI naval attrition cheat and by the failure of AI armies to dissolve in large tracts of infrastructure 0 provinces), that the method used to combat AI attrition is to have it not apply to the AI.
