The day-night cycle for "After Dark" was added to the 'vanilla' game for free.
Although I would not call it a true poll, but in a recent thread I think most people said that "After Dark" (AD) was their favourite add-on.
You might find it worth it to get, the cargo hub has the direct rail connection you wanted. AD also adds Taxis, and a larger 2 runway airport that has a metro station built into it, and prisons, and some other stuff.
This is a problem with the game. I had one port and it was packed with boats and trains, so I built a second port. Now there isn't as many boats or trains going to them, however the boats now travel between each port.
The game doesn't allow you options to control what the ports, airports etc import or export. I wish I was able to click the port and make it purely in export port or an import port. An internal port (so only boats from the other port in the city can travel to the other port) or an external port!
This is where the game lacks user input, just like industry - it makes things for what purpose. As much as people didn't like sim city 5, I believe it nailed the used of industry as it allowed you to create a production line from the oil or minarialsyou took out the gound.
Under some circumstances, I can see that being an issue, and more control would be helpful.
In my current city, some of the boats travel between ports (Cargo Hubs) that are on opposite sides of the water and opposite sides of the map, and that is a blessing. I would not want all that being trucks on the roads trying to cross the city and bridges.
what might be included in the new DLC? Freight harbour with train station was already included in After Dark, as already stated above, so it is very unlikely to be added to the new DLC as well.
I doubt it. A number of people wanted the "Road Maintenance Depot" trucks to repair roads damaged by disasters in "Natural Disasters", but CO said that wouldn't happen, because the road maintenance depot and its trucks were part of "After Dark".
