Welcome to my latest AAR, Freedom, Unity and Communism – The People’s Revolutionary Army in TRP’s La Republique.
This AAR is a revolutionary spin-off Totally Random Production’s new political AAR – La Republique. For those of you who are unaware of La Republique, it is a Kaiserreich Arsenal of Democracy Political AAR following in the footsteps of TRP’s infamous Realpolitik. This time the developers have taken on France in the their greatest Project yet. A political After-Action Report is a very special interactive AAR in which the players all create political parties and run elections in which the forumites can vote and even become President! One particular party, the People’s Revolutionary Army is vying for control over the Presidency. In the timeline France collapsed with a new German Offensive in 1918 and took Paris. This mini spin-off AAR details the history of the courageous People’s Revolutionary Army of France leading up to the 1936 elections which are about to commence on the La Republique thread and forum. You can find more information about La Republique here, then join the forums and enlist in the People’s Revolutionary Army!
For this AAR I, HMAS-Nameless, will be known as Philippe Anaud primarily for writing purposes however in the official La Republique TRP has not allowed for the players to create personas and in La Republique I will only be using my username, HMAS-Nameless. So enjoy the mini AAR and remember to sign-up on La Republique’s forums and enlist in the
if you enjoy the AAR and want to see the Communist Revolution continue. Official game updates can be viewed on the paradoxplaza

PART I.I
THEIR DARKEST HOUR
The People’s Revolutionary Army. The Red Army in France. Freedom. Unity. Prosperity. The very words delve into the heart of every Frenchman’s soul. These peoples suppressed by monarchs and Emperor alike for the past thousand years thought that they could find Freedom in a Republic. However when the time seemed darkest, the very politicians that guaranteed this betrayed them. The French “Democrats” offered their people to the German hound in exchange for a suppressed peace treaty. The people felt disgusted, discouraged. Through France’s darkest hour, France’s greatest hope was born.

Parisian citizens watch as the French government retreats to Orleans forcing all politicians to abandon their people.

The Grand People’s Revolutionary Army has its beginnings in just that, France’s darkest hour. The German guns sounded in the streets of Paris for the 2nd time in less than four years of hard fighting. This time it was also seconded to sound of transport cars carrying the rifled National Assembly. An Ambulance could be heard in the background as a young idealistic Labour politician stepped out of the Assembly areas into the calamity of trying to move an entire government from the frontline. This young man whose name seemed to be Philippe Arnaud seemed distant from the fighting and rushing around him, for weeks the Labour Party had been bickering amongst themselves of who to support and what to do but now it seemed that his own party had abandoned him and joined the retreat from Paris. Dozens of other more radical socialists in the Labour Party felt very much the same. Since the renewed successful German offensive on the Western Front it seemed as though the entire political system had broken down. Once a democracy, France was in reality now a nation in anarchy.

With retreating government and destroyed army, the defence of Paris is left to poorly trained Military Police and the citizens

The National Assembly parliament hall behind him seemed to implode in an awe-inspiring display of fire works. Philippe and the other politicians being loaded into transports, most of Philippe’s supporters trying to go against it, suddenly where all knocked to the ground. As the dust cleared suddenly shouts began to sound out, “Where is the President?”, “He was still inside the National Assembly!”. The MP picked up Philippe and began herding the rest of the politicians onto the cargo trucks for Orleans. Philippe began to think to himself, “How on earth could the French government leave his people to die and retreat to Orleans, what sort of democracy is this?”. This and thoughts of over forty other socialist politicians were the same. Four years of long fighting had shown the true cowardice of the French “Republicans”. However these thoughts where cut short as the cargo truck departed from the streets of Paris as Philippe managed to spot back in the distance a stretcher being pulled out of the wreckage with a twisted person laying on it. The person torn up by shrapnel and obviously dead was the President. France was crumbling. The other Socialists had betrayed Philippe. He had heard word of new sudden political ideology that had sprouted its head as successful in Russia. Communism, Philippe knew, was the future.
