I've came back to the game after 2 years. And I discovered that i can't download any mods through steam workshop. The reason? I own a game on Epic games but not on Steam.
Should I spend extra money because of Valve politics?
Where i can download mods then?.... And here's a problem.
The common anwear to my problem on forum to my problem is "Only Steam owners can use mods, Epic Games owners don't"
And I suggest to create new platform owning by Paradox just like Steam own workshop to avoid unfair solutions like Valve did. It's my opinion to that topic backed up by official words of Paradox Interactive "Community and mods are big part of our games"

And there is my question for you guys - what do you think about this solution?

No thanks. I like it on Steam where I have all my other games. Don't need Paradox to make another place for mods and assets.
On my computer I only have one game not being from Steam and that's pretty much it.

A lot of the big important mods are available to Epic games users, through their Discord channels. I'm on Epic games and I've been able to download MoveIt, TMPE, and a host of others through their Discord servers.

Okay, i see your point but what with other players? I'm not allowed to use community creation because Steam cut me off because I have the same game on the other launcher?

This platform already exists: https://mods.paradoxplaza.com/
But it is not really used by cities skylines. You can download some mods there, but you can't subscribe to mods or upload your own mods. Other paradox games allow users to uploads mods and you can subscribe to them and the launcher will automatically install them and keep them uptodate. But few mod authors use the site

More like it is Steam issue because they don't want to share with mods library.
Why should Steam make their resources available to customers of their competitors?

In any case, modding the Epic edition of this game is not supported by Epic, Paradox or CO.

You're kind of weird. No offense, of course, I don't know if it sounds offensive in English. But what's stopping Epic from making their own workshop? It's not Steam that uploads CS mods to the Workshop, Valve just made a convenient tool for distributing mods. I doubt that a company like Epic can't pay money to programmers to add such functionality.
As for downloading mods, I don't know. As an option, you can buy the base game on Steam. You can download mods there and transfer them to the Epic folder. But this is a stupid way, as for me.

It's been a few years, but I was able to install steam workshop into epic games with ease.

But I own this game on Steam and Epic, as well as on MS store. So I can get access to it from Steam, then copy and paste it into epic. (workshop won't work for MS Store as it is treated as a console (xbox edition). but it does play on PC.

Not all workshop works 100%, so you will need trial and error to make it work with some mods being in special folders.

I think the base game is still $2.99 (and will give you 100% access). If you can afford that much, and like this game already on epic. then just buy the Steam version from isthereanydeal.com that is supported by Paradox.

Now you have the best of both worlds. The only issue is the mods aren't auto-updated for Epic. But it's cheaper than buying the whole game again (depending how much you purchased)

This is buyer beware. Epic can change the game and break workshop at any time. Not likely, but anything is possible.

Make sure you purchase the correct platform (STEAM). Then double check again at checkout, just to be sure. It should be wingamestore or macgamestore. They are both the same company.

On other side you don't need to hoard backups, since any steam's Workshop items on deletion will obedient be removed from your drive no questions asked, just launch Steam and that's enough.

Only if you don't backup the workshop.

Also, there are tons of workshop clone sites that have a copy of every single workshop ever made.

Don't be surprised if some site try to charge you for this privilege.

There actually are some ways on how to get mods on Epic, and completely legal. The first is, that some mod creators will give you the files on Discord if you ask them, and the second is overly complicated, but works. I have made a guide on it, it's in the Modding and resources tab.
Though it requires the mod to be available on GitHub, and also you need Visual Studio Community for that.

I wonder if the community will use GitHub with CS2? It would be so much easier in the long run. They are usually posted ready for install. It just needs an in-game tool to automate it. Plus we'll have the source code, so we get more secure workshop.

But I had to use GitHub before, to make sure I got the correct mod. It should be more reliable than the Steam workshop.

You seem to be under the wrong impression that Steam is doing something to prevent people from using mods on EGS. You should be filling your complaints with Epic for having a terrible service with barely any features. Yeah, Valve requested for a mod/asset sharing service to be shut down a while ago, but they were likely legally required to do so. When you upload mods/assets to the workshop you give STEAM (and only steam) the right to reproduce and distribute (along with some other things) year your creations BUT, you don't give Steam the right to pass that right on to someone else. So when someone makes a automated system that grabs all the mods/assets (or do so at a mass scale) , Steam could technically get in trouble for allowing that to happen.

So yeah, Valve shut down that third party service, but that third party service never had the right to offer those assets/mods in the first place.

Go file your complain with Epic and tell them to stop being lazy/greedy and do some dang work on their platform, Neither Valve, CO or PI can force Epic to add a workshop equivalent to their service only Epic can do that and MAYBE the customers if they complain enough about it.

More like it is Steam issue because they don't want to share with mods library.

I don't think you understand how this works.
Steam offers developers a platform where mods can be uploaded, downloaded and installed. Many developers, like Bethesda nowadays, don't use it at all. Others however, like the developers here, prefer to just use Steam Worskshops so they don't have to spend great amounts of money developing and maintaining their own platform and servers (which is all pretty costly).
Valve nor any other company make their servers and resources available to unrelated parties - Valve already loses great amounts of money by maintaining the workshop and gets no money back from it. So why would they increase the costs to support unrelated and unfriendly parties?
And even if they did (and the developers allowed them to do it for their game), you can bet Epic would never ever make a deal with Valve.
Basically, what you want is impossible. Physically, legally, economically and logically.

This is solely Epic's problem. If they invested a fraction of the money they invest into offering free games and making exclusivity deals, they could have had made their own modding platform long ago.
And well yours, for expecting quality service from EGS of all places.
