I need all land units on the map can freely discover new provinces, so my question... it's possible to make any troop able to explore terra incognita without a conquistador, besides the fantasia mode?

Or if it's impossible, there's a way to gain a conquistador automatically when a troop is created?

And if a fantasia scenario is the only way, how can i remove the natives settlemets from all non-capital prov?

Can anyone help me?

I think land tech 31 lets any land unit discover new territory.

You can also explore any territory already occupied by someone else.

It also takes troops a really long time to move onto the occupied territory, thereby discovering it:). Ignore the message the computer spits out to the effect of, "You can't do this until you reach land tech 31. " If the land is occupied (ie. by another country) you'll eventually discover it; if it isn't (and that includes natives) your troops will bounce back to the original territory they started from when they are supposed to reach the new territory.

You don't? So, can you explore, for example, Manhattan, just by moving troops there from ships even if not at war with Lenape? Or do you just mean that you either have to be at war or have a military access?

So with military access I can pretty much explore an terra incognito nation by simply sending in troops. This is something I will have ti try out in my current game against China. Now all that remains is getting the Chinese to accept an Military access aggreement with mother Russia.

Indeed. It works quite well, actually. As long as you bribe 'em you can explore as a rich European Nation from Turkey to Vietnam, without ever needing a Conquistodor.

I thought that you did have to be at war to explore without an explorer or the right tech. But maybe I just never tried. One thing I am sure of is that if you are at war, you can explore anywhere. Not just the territory of the person you are at war with. I've always rationalized it as you are looking for their territory.

You will not be able to move into the province if you are not at war but you can discover it. Your troops will just bounce back.

If your Innovativeness is really low, (3 or less or something) you have some chance to get a random conquiatador.
Otherwise, you can't buy them, they are historical and only a limited number of country get some.

And if you discover it in some different way before they arrive, e.g. conquering the capital of the owning country, the would-be explorers don't accelerate.

Whereas, if you were at war with them (and now are not) and still are in their territory, you can explore the unknown provinces and when you discover them you do not bounce back - you move into those territories.

Also, you canot unload troops to discover an occupied but undiscovered territory, but you can take troops on land and using shift click march the troops onto the ship and off onto the undiscovered province which you will then discover. This will work even if you need a whole train of ships:

Land -> ship -> ship -> ship -> undiscovered province (Yes, you can unload from a ship onto a ship in an adjacent sea zone :D )

Also if you have Military Access to a country who owns a undiscovered province with a port, you just need to enter it with a ship to discover it... (very useful when having MA with Portugal, Spain or England)
