then what about the (admittedly few ... 2? ... 3?) countries that border the Red Sea and the Mediterranian?
Maybe they could be allowed to build a both "western" and an "eastern" port at the same time and then be able to raise fleet levies separately for each? Although I admit that would probably be quite hard to program. Maybe different holdings can provide vessels for different sides, although then you'd have to telegraph which holdings makes what ships somehow...

Although I checked and only one county (Farama) actually borders both seas, so the whole thing can be solved by splitting it up or changing it's borders a little.

By the way, should we interpret "The Nubian Culture has been expanded" as meaning that it will now actually exist, in game?
I missed that bit until I saw your post because it wasn't highlighted in the OP. I'd definitely suggest that we will now get Nubian culture, and maybe even Somali or something as well. Depends how far the map goes.

I'm now expecting more provinces and a re-drawing of the whole area... please don't let me down, Paradox. :D

I will definitely buy this if the free content is as good as I'm hoping it will be!

It would be nice to see Abyssinia actually survive for once, instead of being swallowed up by an Arabic tribe that shouldn't be invading East Africa in the first place.

To be honest, Tulunids seems to be hardcoded not to go for Nubia (perhaps accounting for that). It's only if Abbasids manage to take Egypt that Nubia gets steamrolled. Abyssinia dying to Sanaa or Shiraz occasionally happens but that is just bad luck. Hell, in my last game most of Abyssinia was conquered, only to be fractured by Miaphysite revolts before finally uniting under a new non-muslim king.

Treaties should be added as well some day. Is that what you mean? It's not 'should not because it didnt happen in real history' I hope? ;)
No, more 'should not always and immediately conquer their Christian neighbors, because historically they had a mutually beneficial treaty which explicitly prohibited this, and how could they garrison the whole of Nubia anyway?' ;)

But how about Copts? How they are represented in game?

Egyptian culture is part of an Arabic one. Copts could be in East African as separate culture...

According to wiki: "The Copts are the native Christians of Egypt, a major ethnoreligious group in Egypt and the largest Christian group there. Historically they spoke the Coptic language, a direct descendant of the Demotic Egyptian spoken in the Roman era, but it has been near-extinct and mostly limited to liturgical use since the 18th century. They now speak Arabic. (...)

At the moment, they're merely miaphysite religion Egyptian characters. They should have a separate culture, as you say.

Isn't the ethnicity of Egyptians in general somewhat controversial/a subject of debate even in Egypt itself to this day? I was under the impression there was some argument about it.

Well, given that culture in P'dox games generally represents language better than ethnicity, we can side-step such issues easily. The point is that there is a strong cultural distinction between the Copts and the Egyptian Arabs. Why that distinction exists, and to what degree it exists isn't the important part. What is important is that they're different, beyond just religion.

You, sir, have just coined the title of the Far East DLC. There's no way that won't be used now.

Actually, I've seen it on the forums before. Although yeah, the hypothetical China expansion can't be named anything else. I'll be using that name too when necessary.

Yeah, I heard someone else use it before, and it caught on almost instantly.

This is the first reference I could find in the recent discussions:
http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...expansion!&p=16761879&viewfull=1#post16761879

But, to be fair, the absolute first use of the term, as nothing but a pun, was here:

Trade agreements (that of course can be broken when inconvenient) between neighbors that nullifies all CBs on ecahother but strengthen the economy of both realms would be a great idea. The Baqt made both Nubia and Egypt flourish, and both realms suffered when it was broken (after the Ayubids took over) and wars started again.
