As I said... Yes they are financed by the DLCs. But the patches are free for everyone. Not only the ones who bought the DLCs. They need money to make all this changes... of course!

Either they've improved the AI, or they're representing the portage there or the Canal of the Pharaohs.
Kailvin's presentation of press release shows Caspian Sea with sea zones, so they probably improved AI.

@Topic, that's a great piece of news indeed! I'm especially excited about tweaked decadence, current system made me ragequit Muslim rulers... It also gives me hope for improvement of Slavs and Romuva!

along with that there's mention of making the red sea navigable.. I wonder how this will be accomplished. early Suez canal? no probably not though the greeks where known for dragging ships over rails when crossing narrow peninsulas. i mean otherwise, and unless they change the AI a bit, all fleet levies will be raised on both sides leading to nations going quite bankrupt especially since they wouldn't be able to form up

Wait, so naval crossings need to be completely realistic? You can cross Gibraltar, the Irish Sea and the Danish Sea with a huge fleetless army, but a fake Suez Canal is going too far?

A fake Suez Canal would result in A LOT more interaction between India and Europe, which probably would not be a good thing. And vikings raiding through the Ganges from day 1. Just saying.

For a player though Viking India would be a hilarious game, Almost as good Norse Jerusalem or Mali.

You almost never see vikings in even italy anymore unless controlled by a player. Im pretty sure they have been given more weight to target close provinces with high income, Namely, Flanders, France and Holland.

Which is fine because currently Vikings are allowed to go all the way to egypt and raid or even prepare invasion, Doesn't mean the AI does it and it certainty wont do it with India ingame.

But you can see vikings pretty often in Egypt/Judea. ;d

Well I hope that PDX thought about this and that there won't be such silliness when all Norse characters are AI. On the other hand, Viking (or Zoroastrain or even Jewish) India in the hands of the player sounds delicious!

I've seen Norse adventurers in Spain, the Levant, Sardinia.
In my current game whilst my king was subjugating Pomerania his son launched a successful prepared invasion of the Kingdom of Italy off his own bat.

I really hope Wiz was able to update the AI so it can handle separate seas without the need for "Suez canals" to connect everything.

Is it possible that they created "Indian Ocean provinces" as a third type of province separate from both land and sea provinces, and then made the ships and ports in those areas separate units and buildings (but with the same names, appearances and stats) in the files, who can only travel in the Indian Ocean/create ships that travel in the Indian Ocean and not in regular sea provinces? That seems like it could solve the issues without having to fiddle around with the AI.
