Fraticelli is almost identical to Catholic, though it would be appropriate for you as England to split off with your own church and pope.

Cathar's biggest deal is letting you use women as generals and landowners. Useful, but if you're not gigantic you probably have no shortage of men for either. Both will get you Crusaded, though, so unless you're roleplaying, it might be best to stay Catholic.

If you are going for achievements, you may use Cathar for the "Empressive" achievement. But, you still need the tolerance technology and a good succession law for it.

Cathar is better if you want to mind your own business. Fraticelli is better if you want to conquer the world. Both are dangerous because they make you a target for crusades and holy wars.

But with Fraticelli you can Crusade too!

There's really no contest if you ask me, especially since you have the Status of Women laws nowadays with Conclave. Fraticelli means holy wars plus your own Pope and Crusades once you create the Fraticelli Papacy. I'm almost certain you also get Papal claims and excommunications, both of which are useful for realm management.

Cathars can also have female temple holders though, and priests can inherit titles. It also takes some time to get full status of women in the "normal" way, you would need tolerance level 7, while Cathars can have all the benefits at once.
