Has anyone managed to become Emperor and become the HRE?
Because damn, would that BBB be ever scary. Gray.

Becoming Emperor as France is pretty easy - just vassalise enough electors.

As France, you're probably better off not passing Renovatio Imperii. Keep that nice blue colour and enjoy your vassal horde, plus all the other bonuses that come from being Emperor.

Yes. They work like regular vassals, except these vassals won't count towards your Diplo-relations limit. Some people exploit this for infinite vassals. Expand the HRE border before releasing a new vassal -> New vassal is HRE member and doesn't count towards your limit.

This is especially important since the new WC mechanic allows for subjects to WC. This means that once you pass the reform, you add your war and colonizer countries to the HRE, release as vassals, and become an even bigger unstoppable force. This just makes the Austria approach to WC even more lopsided.

I done grand theft HRE as France and i had plans to do the same as Castille/France but i put that on hold untill the colonial expansion. Now if you are really ambitious you should try to do the same as the Ottomans.

You can also join HRE if Austria is AI. Its preatty easy, dont win 100 year war at once instead go for WP, release few minors or feed few cores to your vassals and you'll be small anough to join HRE. Then just ally to electors and improve relations :)

Yes, it’s really too easy in fact. I did this and was emperor in 1472.

The best thing to do is not to white peace the HYW, instead make England release Wales or Cornwall and diplo-vassalize them to set up the conquest of Great Britain. Then feed all but five provinces to your vassals and join the Empire.

I added all my provinces to the HRE immediately, and continued as I annexed each vassal. You want Austria to pass the first reform ASAP, for two reasons: it gives great benefit to you as a member; and it’s easier to compete with Austria for the Imperial Throne once Austria loses the boost to election score from Imperial Authority.

I am pretty sure some of the hardcore players here know of ways of turning the Ottos christian.

And then turn em back again afters.

Easiest is to turn orthodox, but catholic is better for passing reforms. In short:

-Get rid of Sunni provinces by selling them to vassals. If you need vassals, conquer the turkish minors first and then release them.
-(optional, if aiming for catholicism) Get rid of orthodox provinces by force-vassalising Byzantium and selling your greek/orthodox provinces to them.
-Get a foothold in Italy, move capital, promote catholic zealots (0 funding missionary, tank legitimacy and stability, etc.), accept demands.
-Butter up to Austria, join HRE, reintegrate vassals, start winning elections.

While you can convert back afterwards (after passing Erbkaiserturm), you'll likely be large enough to control the curia with its insane bonuses. Icing on the cake; being catholic (or orthodox) gives you a religious CB on everything east of you as well.
