It's 1402. Burgundy declares war on the HRE state Hainut. Their faithful allies, The Holy Roman Emperor, Luneburg come to the aid of their vassal. It's a long and bloody struggle. Burgundy annexes Hainut, and Luneburg is forced to pay 39 ducats in indemnities. Some time passes, and Luneburg vows to liberate Hainut for their Burgundian opressors. They will need funding. Luneburg becomes a trader nation. They take out loans, and in 1404, they fund the first rebellion in Hainut. It is put down. However, they do it again. This time they take the city, and move on to another province. The armies of Burgundy try to retake the city, but rebels forced to flee from France defeat the Burgundian forces. By 1406, 2 new countries declare independence from Burgundy. Hainut, and...Revolutionary France.

Their Leader, Jean Napoleon has been made clear God's will. Liberate France from the scourge of the aristocracy. And so it begins...

The First War

Everything went along normally at first. We made peace w/Burgundy, on the condition that we pay 25 ducats. Though it was a defeat, we secured our independence. After we had obtained a truce w/Burgundy, we changed our sights to our main objective: Liberate France from the Aristocracy. We needed three things:

  1. Money
  2. Manpower
  3. (and to achieve these) Cities

We decided to declare war on our neighbors, Hainut. So, after taking out at loan, we fabricated some claims, and marched on our neighbors. It was a short, and relatively bloodless struggle. Hainut's 4k soldiers were defeated by the 2nd battle, and the only major loss on our part was our leader, Jean Napoleon. Upon his death, we instituted a Revolutionary Republc (I think it's called that.) and elected the military candidate, some dude with a French name I can't spell. I think it is Guirreme. The rest of the war was rather long, but we had taken both of their provinces. We demanded 1 in the peace treaty, and ordered them vassalized. At the conclusion of the war, France then warned us not to war on any of their neighbors. The Aristocracy scum would do so!

P.S. I started the game as Luneburg. I will not be posting again until after Easter, and I will include screenshots in the next one.

Diplomacy

Diplomatically, (yes, I did manage to squeeze in some more game playing.) I have allies in the Papal States, Castille, and England, who will be valuable allies in a war against France. The council has decided the sooner we annex them, the better, for we can't let them access the new world. The only problem is, their monarch, a faithful aristocrat, is not content with the title of King, is now proclaimed "Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire." along with being Papal Controller.

Small Developments

Just a few small developments to record. We paid off our loan, and have close to 300 ducats. I'm debating opening a COT, and another Napoleon is president. I chose the bureaucrat candidate. Will play more tomorrow. :) Oh, France lost Calais to England. :)

First War W/France

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. We had war declared on us by France, and our allies supported us. Our armies were victorious in a few battles, but failed to take any provinces. We held our own provinces, and made them give up Picardie as a core province. We also collected 250 ducats, and England re-took the provinces of Brittany.
