Thankfully, LaR allowed France to start with heavy tanks already researched. However, when the player begins his game, there is no production line for these, nor are there any in stock. This is odd, considering the Char B1 began production in December 1935. Even if we assume none were completed by January 1936, it's weird that there aren't any half-completed ones in the process of being built- the naval dockyards almost always start out like this. This should be corrected.

It's also worth noting that the original run of Char B1s produced 34 vehicles in 20 months (December 1935- July 1937), so this should be taken into account when deciding how many are in the stockpile and how many are half-built.

Stop asking the developers to make the base game any more historical and realistic. Theres mods that solve hundreds, if not thousands of these little details and improve upon the game drastically. The developers are to busy with abstract alt history focus trees for Balkan minors and arent even fixing game breaking bugs like broken airfields in this current patch, let alone this. i have 5000 hours btw and been playing this since 2016, when theres a bug you can basically uninstall the game and come back in a few months instead of posting about it, because it will make 0 difference in the speed they do anything.

It's interesting but I don't think France had enough of them to constitute an entire division. Two in game battalions of B1s by 1940. Most of them produced on or after 1939

Numerically they had a lot more light tanks. And the heavies are produceable if desired.

So I guess it makes sense how Paradox did it. It does seem accurate in the two kinds of tank divisions for different purposes.

Nah, it's fine as it is.

This would actually be a nerf to France if the AI continued producing them and took away from more useful needs.

If you want heavy tanks, there's nothing stopping you from just building a military factory and starting a production line, or reassigning your existing factories.

Well there is one small advantage to starting with an HT production line. A human player can retask MFs into the line with full efficiency though gosh knows why'd you do that with your 8/9 factories.

As a France player I noted the same issue. It's more reflective of the fact that France is nerfed into the ground in order to allow Germany to reliably defeat France every game (otherwise it'd be more of a coin flip I suspect). I agree with Iskulya that HT production would likely weaken the French AI too much.

As far as I am concerned the problem is that Paradox cannot decide if this is sandbox or historical. So, they make every army doctrine good so we get legitimate argument over which is best. Anyone who has any knowledge of history that Germany won the early war for a number of reasons, radios, NCOs, but most importantly doctrine.
But Paradox has to make all doctrines near equal.

The doctrines are not at all equal, and it's what over a dozen multiplayer mods fix. Mobile warfare is by far the best doctrine, it has more org, and recovery rate then any other doctrine in the game, the best tactics, and movement speed. Superior firepower is ok, GBP is worthless and completely garbage after they changed planning and soft attack in 1.4 or so. deep battle is terrible, and mass mob is ok because Guerilla warfare is the most broken tactic in the game and it has high recovery rate, but if it didnt have this then it's also worthless. So to recap, Mobile (best) Superior (ok, right side only), GBP (worthless both sides) Mass Assault (Worthless left side, ok right side). Just add up with each doctrine actually gives in a spreadsheet or take my word for it, you will come to the ranking put together, the devs barely play there own game.
