Sometimes, Valencia gets overrun by moors, only to be reconquered by... THE FKING CAPET himself.

The French Capital was Tunis in my last game. :p

Wild speculation: I think the issue with French going south is because it's the most sensible thing for the AI to do. To the east is the Emperor of Doomstacks and to the north is england, your more historical target. The problem is, the AI doesn't really care about english holdings on the continent, because again, the english are stronger than the muslims. And even if it does care, it only regains the continental posessions. Ever seen a french invasion in England?

The AI is probably a bit too smart. Why look for conflict among those equal or greater your power? Would be interesting to know why France didn't fight the Muslims in reality.

The major problem in my opinion isnt the CB or France invading or being capable of it at all due to political reasons or not. The main problem is that war is to cheap. Its way to easy to field your armies and go chopp some heads of your enemies. Armies at the time was expensive. A knights armour would probably cost a nation/king more than a tank would cost today. Sure, most soldiers didnt have that but they still need to be feed, given weapons, some sort of basic armour, training etc.
The main problem atm is not the cost, its waiting for more men. Its no problem at all to keep your armies fielded non stop. It do hurt your economy in the long run but still, it shouldnt be possible to keep them in the field all the time.

Medieval fact: Levies could be raised for a maximum of 40 days (in extreme cases 90 days). And you couldn't get any levies at all when the crops were brought in.
