scandinavia and usa are getting it before new year. because of localisation issues its going to take around 4 more months to release european version (translation into french, german....)
there are more exact dates on some thread on this forum. try searching for it.
The release date for Spain is March '02, I suppose it is more or less the same for France
just order it from webhallen.se it will not cost you much more than to buy game at your local store. .se is inside eu as .fr is so you will not have to pay any extra taxes, just shipping.
I saw this name already cited, but I assumed that they would sell a version in swedish, so I had to order it from the US. Do they sell an english version?
Of course! You don't think they are going to release a game in the US in Swedish, do you? That would be a business disaster!
reason that scandinavian/australian/us release is at the same time is because they are all in english.
paradox knows that scandinavians are quite good at english so localization isnt needed. its because of localization that european version is this late.

especially if they are releasing it in swedish outside of scandinavia..... hehe ...
there was a thread on that a while ago (try searching for it in eu2 forum). as i understood eu2 manual was in english but is *maybe* going to be translated later into swedish if publishers decide to do that. so scandinavian version right now has the english manual (afaik).
and what language does the UK speak?
(not so angry - just annoyed, that release date means I won't be able to play the game until June if I biuy in England - so if I want a game before next summer I need to buy American [I'm sure the Swedish manual must be in swedish])

Sweden has its own publisher. The UK has the shitty misfortune that they are handled by UBI who are also doing France and so on and they want to bring it out all at the same time.
Hmmmm.. that IS strange, just because the UK is near Europe it doesn't get linked with the rest of the Anglic world.

Don´t hold your breath over the Swedish manual. At least initially i don´t think it will be in swedish, almost no manuals are in this country. It could change with later updates though, but don´t bet on it.
The reason for bringing out the game in Q1 2002 is mostly because of the huge task of localizing the game into the languages. But that is only part of the decision by Ubisoft. For a game to receive good space in stores, and to do promotional groundwork a publisher needs 3-4 months. Since we did not close our deal with Ubisoft until September, this really explains the time delay.
If a game comes out with no support in the forms of marketing etc in for instance the UK during the christmas rush, it gets lost and faces a cruel death in the sales bins in January.
Ubisoft did a wonderful work with EU1 in France and we are very confident in the support they are giving us, and EU. Hold out! It will be worth it!
