Hi,
what I would like would be to have the
1) Ability to travel very slowly between systems (way slowed down warp)
2) Instantenious travel between star systems (ideally not ending at the border, but at - more or less - fixed points in systems)
3) Those outgoing points would need to be searched for
4) Really ideally, there would be mechanism for those points changing location, or even become disabled (ideally with some possibility to control this
5) Further, each such path would have property that would limit maximum size that can get through.
6) Of course, something to make this work (for the AI).

What I'm trying to get to?
Well, effectively Alderson drive, if some of you are familiar with Jerry Pournelle's Co-Dominium universe.
I'm aware that this is no small request.
The closest thing to this is Hyperspace, but that ends in outer regions and isn't instantaneous, and doesn't have size limit...
And of course, very slow warp isn't possible currently in parallel, yet that would add tons of additional options (as well as allow Moties to arrive, provided there would be option to travel to some systems only through sun, which not all could do (Langston field ;-))
I see that there are other ideas for different FTL's, maybe it could work as a FTL DLC to add some few selected more paths? (I'm sure coding requirements would be significant so it would be totally justified one).

I also think, such system would allow a lot of things with regards to tactics, because the slow warp(sublight) would allow to bypass the "alderson point" (and subsequent inability to shoot back for some time), but at the cost that defender could see it coming and prepare for it - could be quite good for multiplayer.
