Mameluks

1532 107d in Treasury +3 Stability 10% Inflation

I am now giving myself the option of staying 5 or 10 years with each country.

Situation:
The Mameluks have been reduced to Cyrenaica, Cataract, Nile and Egypt. They are in a war with Oman against Nubia. They are in a military alliance with Oman and Persia. Persia? Well I'll be damn they finally have some power in their alliance. Unfortunately the Persians have shown themselves to be very unreliable. Even though they have 107d in the treasury they are making no effort to build troops for their war with Nubia.

Goal:
End war with Nubia with some kind of a victory. Then try to strengthen the Mameluks for the next round with Turkey.

January
3k Calvary and 3k Infantry ordered. All through this segment I'm building troops I'm just not going to itemize all of it.
Venice pays Wurtemberg 199d for peace.

February
Cataract Besieged by Nubia
Venice and Austria agree to a white peace.

May
Nile lost to Nubia.

June
Nile recaptured.

September
Mameluks defeat Nubia in Cataract.

January 1533 31d in Treasury

August
Nubia besieged by Mameluks.

December
Alexandria revolts against Poland-Lithuania 50k Infantry 15k Calvary
Bank loan taken. I have to end this war with Nubia and that is going to take some cash.

January 1534 90d in treasury

April
Nubia captured

May
Mameluks win the province of Nubia in peace agreement with Nubia. I think this is the first victory of any kind in the game for the Mameluks. Watch out world here comes the Mameluks.

December
Denmark give Skane to Sweden for peace. I didn't even know that they were at war.

January 1535 69d
Slider moved for treasury income of 3 per month. I have a loan to pay off.

April
Rebels take Alexandria. Anyone want to take a bet on where the rebels head to next?

May
Rebel army of 23k attack Egypt where a Mameluks army of 26k wait. Mameluks win.

January 1536 129d in Treasury

September
Rebels have broken the government in Denmark. What? My pride and joy Denmark has fallen on hard times. They were the ones I thought were going to succeed.

January 1537 146d in Treasury +3 Stability 15% Inflation -52 Victory Points.
The good news is that I expanded the Mameluks empire by one province. However they have a loan to pay off and how long until Turkey again declares war? I have decided to only stay 5 years with the Mameluks because Denmark is starting to fall apart and I don't think there's a whole lot more that I'm going to accomplish here at this time.

On to Denmark!

Well they started out with 10% and ended this 5 year segment with 15% so if the trend of 1% per year keeps going I think they might give your record a test. :D I haven't given up hope for them yet but things aren't looking to good.

I'm already thinking about taking four single province countries and trying to get them into an alliance. It might be interesting to work a rotation with them to see what they will do to help each other out during a war.

Hmm, what about 4 neighbours? That would be very interesting, say, Kleves, Cologne, and what are two others? maybe saxony and hessen?

Right something like that. You would only be controlling one country at a time and it could be interesting to fight a war and see what everyone does. Many different possibilities.

1537 146d in Treasury +3 Stability 11% Inflation

Situation:
Skane has been lost to Sweden. Revenge may be awhile off but it will come. There has obviously been some internal upheaval since several provinces show the signs of smoldering cities.
Not at war with anyone. Military alliance with Russia. No leaders of note and only 10k Infantry on hand.

Goal:
Solidify the domestic situation and then some more expansion where I can.

March
Spain give Algiers Messina (sp) and 18d for peace. Alright! The AI finally did something right.
I'm sending out colonist as I get them and can afford it.

June
Austria declares war against Poland. Several allies join Austria while Turkey and Georgia join Poland but Persia dishonors alliance. When we left the Mameluks, Persia was part of their alliance. What happened I don't know but it's not good news for the Mameluks.

July
Denmark declares war against Prussia. With the rebels still besieging East Prussia the aren't able to raise troops except in Memel which I'm invading. I took a hit in stability so I've move all income into stability.

I've left troops being built in Memel to defeat the rebels in Kurland. I can only hope that the AI figures out that that's what they're for. Added two provinces and strengthen the economy so all in all not a bad 10 years. Lets hope the computer can keep it all together.

Storey - great job. I'm rooting for the Mameluks.

Honour_Shogun - that 'American Nations 4-in-1' sounds really cool, actually. Just don't add as many conquistadors and cash as you did in the new haudenosee one, please.

(Just personal preference)

Situation:
At war with Spain with Teutonic Order. Military alliance with Teutonic Order, Naples and The Knights. Mantua and Istria have been lost. Total military power is 37k Infantry, 10 transports and 41 Warships.

Goal:
End war with Spain but this time I plan to be more aggressive. Or in other words I'm tired of being kicked around and plan on doing a little kicking of my own.

March
Morocco becomes vassal of Algiers. Wow, the AI has done two things in a row to improve itself. Will wonders never cease.

April
Mameluks give Turkey 17d for peace. At least they didn't lose anymore territory.

June
Spain has been refusing peace offers from Venice. And Venice isn't going to settle for anything less than Sicily so a risk is going to have to be taken! Onward to Spain!
Valencia is besieged by Venice with 8k infantry and 20 cannon. As I'm doing this I can see around 45k Spanish troops to the north and 23k to the south. Lets see if the AI can react to what I'm doing.

A roller coaster of a ride with Spain. Spain had the armies to crush me and couldn't find the brains to do it. I didn't want to have a province in Spain because it would mean more trouble down the line with Spain and right now I think I have enough to worry about. Anyway fairly successful decade with economic growth and a province added. It's going to be awhile before I get back so let's hope that they can keep their noses clean.

Algiers

1557 247d in Treasury +3 Stability 14% Inflation

Situation:
Messina has been added since we were last here. Morocco is a vassal and in a military alliance with Algiers. The military consists of 11k Infantry, 8k Calvary and 32 cannons all in Messina which is where I left them years ago if I remember right. There are 2 warships, 9 galleys and 5 transports. So I have the ability to move around which I'm going to need.

Goal:
Expansion is my middle name. One way or the other I'm looking for modest expansion but at who's expense?

January 1557 247d in treasury
Mameluks give Cataract and 18d to Turkey for peace. The incredible shrinking country continues it's act.

September
Denmark declares war against Spain. Why? I hope there's some reason to this madness. Scotland joins Denmark while Austria, Bavaria, Milan and Wurtemberg join Spain.

January 1558 161d in Treasury

January 1561 93d in Treasury

May
Leon captured by Algiers
Malta captured by Algiers

June
Aragon besieged
Spain gives Algiers Malta for Peace.

January 1562 69d in Treasury +2 Stability 15% Inflation 227 Victory Points
The key to this segment was that Algiers still had a navy! I chose Malta because it is the closest province that Spain had to Algiers. I checked out Sardinia but found that they were garrisoned by 16k troops. I'm only staying with Algiers for five years since they seem to be doing fine on their own. With Malta added and Infrastructure level 3 reached it will be interesting to see if they expand economically while I'm gone.

Sigh. On to the Mameluks or what's left of them.

Mameluks

1562 93d in Treasury +3 Stability 14% Inflation

Situation:
The Mameluks have been reduced to 4 provinces. Cyrenaica, Egypt, Nile and Nubia. Nubia is in revolt and is besieged by the Mameluks with 8k Infantry. They have a military alliance with Oman, Nubia, Netherlands and Persia.

Goal:
I'm past the point of just trying to survive. The Mameluks are going to have to expand if they are to have any future. Because I can see problems with Poland-lithuania controlling Alexandria and the need to reach their homeland incase we go to war I am going to start building a fleet. I hope that I don't have to use it but I can't ignore the fact that if I take Alexandria it will just be a dead end without a fleet to take the fight to the Polish homeland. If I manage to catch Turkey when it's time to renew it's alliance then I can just ignore Poland but I still might need a fleet to attack the Capital of Turkey if things get desperate of maybe I should say WHEN things get desperate. When the war to end all wars comes with Turkey I can only hope that Persia joins me otherwise I don't think I stand a chance. The military alliance between Poland, Georgia, Ethiopia and Turkey ends in 1567 so I'm building my forces with that as the time table for war. If opportunity presents itself in some other way I won't hesitate to take it.

Persia takes Syria in peace agreement with Turkey. Now this was the turning point in the war but not for the reason you might be thinking. With Persia out of the war my main provider of cannon fodder was gone. They had tied up all of the Turkish forces up to that time so you might think that I was doomed by this peace agreement. However by taking Syria, Persia had separated three of Turkey's provinces from the rest of Turkey. Only Judea, Jordan and Samaria were bordering on the Mameluks. So only troops raised in these three provinces can get to me so I think I can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

February
Samaria besieged

April
3k Infantry ordered.

I just want you to know that this was the luckiest segment in the game so far. At several points a little change here or there and the Mameluks would have gone down the tubes. As it is they live to fight another day and are even in a position to be able to defend themselves against the dreaded Turk.

I've had games where they also do quite well. I think the key is if Turkey forms an alliance with the countries around the Mameluks especially Persia. If it does then the Mamelukes butt is grass and the Turks are a lawn mower.:D

Do Turks own any of former Hungarian provinces, or other European provinces to north of Serbia? This can give them some major cash bonus, i never played for Ottomans, but i think all of their provinces except for hrace are crappy. Since in my game i diplo-annexed all of Hungary, this might be explanation.

Sorry no screens. I play on my computer at home and don't have access to the internet from there. I'm finding that instead of changing history in several places what I'm really doing is pulling my hair out watching my carefully laid plans fall apart before I can get back to each country to save them. I find it amusing that Algiers seems at this time to be doing the best. Go figure!:D
