I play with bolted 1.02c , KI files for the majors improved by G’Kar and own naval files for a more realistic naval combat. ( More Action and more balance between destroyers )

I will Germany and Japan declare war on the netherlands if it hasn’t happened till then and I will allow me the relocate my capital if it has fallen.

And I’ll try to work with screenshoots but I can’t promise it.

Its al so quiet , sh, sh

This is the tale of four friends, four young women bound together in friendship but tied apart by the winds of fate.
They all had been had the same school in Eindhoven. I see them as young girls as it was yesterday but now much time has paste.


1.1.1936

Overall Situation


Probably I should describe you these four young women:
There was the quiet Linda who married the much older Kim Halvorsen. Kim Halvorsen was a member of the ruling council of Eindhoven.
Then we had the lively Willhelmina , she got a very keen man, Johann van Husmann , 2nd Officer of the RNS Sumatra.
The adventuresome Minet Meinerts and her husband Karel are planning the go to Borneo as farmers and colonists.
And there was the little Entje who was in love with Pim Oltmanns , Corporal in the 3rd Army Corps.

Otherwise is Europe a very quiet place . All countries are still recovering from the big depression and Germany had a now chancellor, a tiny man named Adolf Hitler who always seemed to yell.

My man lately told my that the government planed to build some new cruisers to send them to the East- and the Westindies and he has the change to get a position at the Cruiser which will send to Curacao.
Curacao , sunshine , Caribean and no more the rainy Eindhoven.

I’ve managed to see Pim last weekend. It seems that he had an easy job at the army

Karel and I are waiting eagerly for prime minister Colijn’s announcement to boost the economy of the colonies. We are planing to settle over to Balikpapan at Borneo to have our own farm

Boost the economy of the colonies. That is not a good idea. The colonies may be away some day . He should boost the economy of the zeven Provincien , not the colonies. My husband works hard to build fabrics in Eindhoven. He will also happy when our home economy gets a boost

Distant shadows

Overall Situation

The Dutch economy is doing fine because of the colonies. Europe is still quiet but at the horizon you see shadows. Italy had annexed Ethiopia , Germany retakes the Rhineland and spain is in flames. National Spain, supported by Germany and Italy and Republican spain, supported by the Sovjet union fighting a bloody civil war.
Netherlands will send the new cruiser RNS “De zeven provincien” under Admiral Helfrich to do sea surveillance

We are now at Curacao and everything is fine. Every week is another cocktail party, the people are friendly and we are without problems. But we were lucky . Johann told me that the Admirality had almost send the RNS Sumatra instead of the RNS “De zeven provincien” to Spain to look at this uninterresting civil war.

There is an awful civil war in Spain and the people are telling that also we will send troops to intervent. Possibly Pim most go to spain .No!!!!

We arrived at Balikpapan at April the 6th 1936 and are now building our farm It is very easy because we had much native workers

I heard from my husband that the general stuff had plans to build a similar fortress line like the french maginot line to protect us from the Germans.
Why ??
The Germans are not so silly to make the same mistake twice. And if we will be neutral like in the last great war.

The Spanish civil war is going on and the tensions between France and Britain on the one side and Germany on the other is rising.

Our farm is working well. The Europeans are troubled , why ? I , don’t know . Trouble is when a tiger is sneaking trough our garden.
But then II take my rifle and shoot at him

They are frightened and they build the line. They build a fortress line trough Holland. I can’t belive it.

Nearer Shadows

Overall Situation
The Spanish civil war is in his third year, Germany has annexed Austria and parts of Czechoslovakia and even the Netherlands are building fortresses to protect themselves. They call them “The Wall”. Dutch’s economic 3years plan to boost the economy of the colonies is finished and also Holland is doing an Rearmament program. And in the Far East there is another War raging.

I’m selling our house at Curacao . It may be that we have to leave Curacao very fast to move to Europe or to Java.

They are recruiting more Soldiers for the Dutch army. Piet is now an instructor.

I have heard about the war between the Japanese and China. What if the Japanese are ready with the Chinese. We may be the next target.

Overall Situation
The Spanish civil war calmed down to a sit in but in the March of 1939 Italia declared war at Albania and Hitler crushed the remains of Czechoslovakia .
In the Netherlands was a major workers strike in which the workers want to get more money because of their hours of overtime. The Dutch Admirality send a large task force under Admiral Helfrich to counter possible Japanese aggressions

In february a group of ships led by the Entracht and the zeven provincien arrived at Curacao . My husband thought that the sumatra had to join but she remained at Curacao to act as reserve ship for the fleets of Admiral Doorman an Helfrich. And all man supposed, soon there will be a war in Europe.

Piet is now at the first Dutch Mobile Corps. These man should counterattack German attacking forces. I’m in anxiety for him

Some days ago the Dutch Eastindiesfleet arrived at Java. I had to do buisness in Jakarta. I saw them as they entered the harbour. Big beautiful ships . I feel save

Dammed commies. They revolutionized our workers. They are striking!! The works on the wall are slowed down by them. The armarment minister should send the army

Until now I played with a "certain" flag.
I realized nearly to late that it is forbidden and not a good idea to post on the forum.
Thats why you will find the details blanked out in the next pictures.
I changed to the standard game flag so there will be no problems in the future (beginning at 1.1.1940)

Rolling Storm

1.1.1940

Overall Situation
3.9.1939 Germany declared war on Poland.
5.6.1939 England and france declared war on Germany . The Netherlands allow Allied planes to fly trough.
Admiral Furster send his submarines in the baltic sea to Surveillance.
French troops act very passively but the Comonwealth act with one motto : Attack is the best defence!!
British troops landed at Rostock while South-Africa conquered South-Prussia

Both had been driven back lately but Germany was a little bit troubled.
In December Poland was annexed,
11.12.1939 Germany declares war at Belgium, Luxemburg and the Netherlands.

First attack by NS Germany general von Bock was rejected by Izaak Reynders , dutch chief of stuff, his Armycorps and the 1st mobile Corps and Canadian troops.

After a defeat at Arnheim ,Chief of Stuff Izaak Reynders focused his troops on Amsterdam and Eindhoven while Canadian troops try to hold Gronningen

While at sea Dutch had its first victory. Admiral Karel Doorman used his support and transport ships to lure Germany into an attack and then to counter . He managed to damage all three German Pocket Battleships and the cruiser Emden. Helpfully attacks by Admiral Fursters subs had been usefull.

German general von Kleist Attacked Eindhoven with 11 divisions , which was defended by only 2 divisons supported by Doormanns Fleet

Dutch Hq decided to evacuate while the fighting is going on

The navy got a big victory adtwaddensee I heard. My husband is sad not to be there. I’m not sad.

Piet was recommanded to the 3rd Corps which is no defending Eindhoven against general Kleists troops.

In Europe there is a bloody war raging. We feel with our brothers and sisters

It is war at Eindhoven . The wall is holding hear and the third corps is defending bravely the city. But I heard of some sort of evacuation.

Burned Earth

Overall Situation
After Doorman’s Fleet had evacuated Soldiers and Civilians out of Eindhoven only Amsterdam was in Dutch hands. In the meantime the German troops had overrun Belgium and moving into France.
27.1.1940 A Raid to capture the Queen and the prime minister was blighted by soldiers of the second corps ( General Winkelmann )

Ten days after General Kleist attacked with eleven divisions and Holland was lost.
Admiral Doorman was able to evacuate nearly all man although the Java was fired upon by German Field Guns.
Then the Dutch government was transferred to Paramaribo

while General von Voorst Vorst’s 1st Corps helped to defend Paris in the German summer offensive but in October Paris was lost and the Allies had to leave Europe

Europe is lost. The Government is moving to Paramaribo to continue the fight. My husbands ship was ordered to escort. And then his ship should move to the Mediterranean to fight Italian ships.

Piet and I married today. Only He and I and the military priest . Then we move on to the evacuation ships to go to England were he will settle with the 3rd Corps while I will work as an Airforce aide for our new build Bombers
