FOUNDATION FOR THE ECB TRAGEDY MEMORIAL
This foundation has been brought together to build a memorial worthy of all those innocent Eutopians who lost their lives in the attack on the Eutopian Central Bank.

There is much to be decided yet: we need a design, a location, and funds. We will be having fundraiser drives and encourage all able Eutopians to make donations.

A nationwide call goes out to architects to submit their best design for the actual memorial. We are currently considering many locations for the memorial.

Private donations of all sizes have been rolling in to the Foundation. A number of supermarkets have placed out coffee cans and bins for collecting change, and addresses for sending in donations to the fund have been circulating, prompting many private citizens to donate a few spare ducats.

A few larger corporations have made sizable donations of a few hundred thousand ducats, and have asked if there are any plans to include a wall with donors' names, or a brick walk with the same information, or some similar arrangement.

So far, the Foundation has raised approximately three and a half million ducats, and donations are still coming in. Artists and architects have written in to express their interest in the memorial, but have not yet submitted proposals as they don't know where the location will be and want to make sure their design is suited to the space.

An employee has hung in the office window a picture drawn by a 6 year old girl of her piggy bank, with a description of how it was opened to send all the contents for the memorial. Her donation was 2 ducats and 41 cents, all in pennies.

Loic de Fourgéres drops by the Foundation.
"As the previously announced ECB Blast Victims Fund being administered by Crusading Advocates LLC seems to be attracting fewer donations, we would be happy to turn everything over to this foundation, if it would be willing to do more than just build a memorial, but also expand its scope to benefit victims and their relatives, doing things like covering university tuition for children of those killed, or making up the deductable on the insurance claims on housing near the blast site. I think it would be better to have one fund than two competing charities. What do you think?"

That sounds like a good idea. I'd be happy to provide those kinds of benefits to the victim's families in addition to the memorial. I really appreciate your contribution.

Before we can have a design, we need a location. Is the ECB going to be rebuilt? If it is, is there any open space near it to build a memorial?

The ECB is largely intact. To it, the damage was mostly superficial, except for the wing with conference rooms and offices, which they will probably rebuild in a sturdier fashion. I would suggest buying the land across the street from the blast site. The remants of that building will have to come down anyway. Most of the victims are people that were working or shopping nearby in New Lancaster City, not ECB workers who were at their desks. The ECB was the target, but the people of the city were hardest hit. It should be mostly their memorial.

Lamont finds a large number of property owners in the area are willing or even eager to sell after the disaster, as rebuilding could prove to be more costly than just selling and attempting another enterprise elsewhere. However, it is still real estate in downtown New Lancaster, and comes at a premium. He has a couple options: 1) buy a small plot of land that was a former standard sized cafe for approximately 1 million ducats, suitable for a plaza with a public sculpture or similar memorial or 2) buy a group of four former buildings together that would allow for a small park type area or enclosed building housing the memorial for approximately 5 million ducats. The owners willing to sell in the area are too erratic and inconveniently placed to allow for any larger grouping, but if he is willing to build the memorial a few miles down the road, he can get a larger space for approximately 8 million ducats.

This area is just on the outskirts of New Lancaster City proper, and was not damaged in the blast. It was only partially developed in the first place, and so it could be made ready for a memorial rather quickly.

Now that they have a space to work with, artists and architects start preparing bids for the memorial itself.

Loic only lost two golf balls, one each on #7 and #18. There was a skins games on the side. Loic won 3 skins on #5, an one each on #11 and #14, so despite shooting worse than his handicap, he won a couple of ducats. It was a nice outing, for a good cause.
