What ethics are you talking about? What did I forget about? No one forgot anything, achievements are literally for single player purposes. It's like reporting someone to Blizzard who uses cheat codes in their Starcraft campaign.

What ethics are you talking about? What did I forget about? No one forgot anything, achievements are literally for single player purposes. It's like reporting someone to Blizzard who uses cheat codes in their Starcraft campaign.
I remember a day when achievements were used when you actually wanted to achieve something, a challenge, but in all seriousness here, this isn't Paradox's problem. This is entirely Valve's. Not sure if their ToS even allows it, so you should complain to them about it (assuming you can get even through to their terrible support system).
IMO, it's not that big of a deal; If people want to admit defeat or accept their own shame in not being able to get those achievements, that's fine. I don't see why you should be concerned that much with it, just ignore and block them. It only becomes a problem when people start cheating ingame on the multiplayer, which happened very recently to an EUIV multiplayer session in Reddit (that I can't link because I'm not allowed to)

I think that this guy was disappointed with his Christmas presents and that he decided to offer himself some achievements.

Until 1 month ago I had 0 achievements too, and I had the game for years1300 hours of eu4 on my account. Not one achievement. After not giving the requisite tinker's cuss, I'm a sad panda.
But now I became an achievement whore!

What kind of punishment did you have in mind for someone who unlocked some achievements?

- reward those players with prestige, money or other benefits? No.
- make you feel a bit crappy knowing how much time and effort we need to invest if we want to see them by not cheating? Probably.
You can't really report a player who has a 300" 8K screen attached to a $20K computer to play EU4 just because his/her dad is very, very rich. Yet the feeling of "unfairness" is similar.
So, you can do two things: try to cry about it (either here or at Valve) or ignore it. Ultimately, neither course of action will bring any satisfaction in the end.

Guys I only checked one page out of curiosity (https://achievementstats.com/index.php?action=games&gameId=236850) and I found this spam of unlock achievements, just understand how I felt.

My response was to the user I quoted -- they used an idiom I wasn't aware of.
I... can't say I care much about the topic at hand.
It seems an over-reaction at best and a trolling attempt at worst -- I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt.
Considering the amount of time Paradox spends thinking of achievement and looking at how many people who play Pdx games like working on those achievements, maybe they should consider building their own achievement infrastructure which has server side checks and are account bound. There is nothing wrong with cheating for Steam achievements as they're a meaningless dumb system. If I had the choice I'd turn seeing them at all off.
This is mostly a steam issue and as many users have pointed out: a) this is a steam issue and b) it doesn't really impact anyone. Cheaters gonna cheat.
