are there any disadvantages to accepting fosterlings?

i get offered a lot of them and often get sick of the pop-ups they trigger (education choice, various trait events, etc...) but if i refuse the same leader keeps offering, over and over.

when they come of age, do they go back to the court they're from or do i get to keep them?

does sending or accepting a fosterling give me a relations boost?

if i have a lot of fosterlings in my court, is that limiting the amount of adult courtiers my court can hold? in other words, is there a limit to my court size?

The spam can be annoying yes, so I always just accept them.

I think you get a relations boost from accepting them (and having yours accepted as well). The main advantage/disadvantage is the friendships/rivalries (in DV) that can occur. I do tend to send my own family members out, since I don't want them becoming rivals to each other. The fosterlings I take I do not care about.

They leave for home at the age of 16 ... so you won't be keeping them.

There is no fixed limit for number of courtiers ... but once your court gets too big (no exact number) disease will start to spread in court.
