Forza Italia is Berlusconi's party. The Lega Nord is a semi-separatist party based in north-central and north-eastern Italy that orginated in the 1980s. They are part of Berlusconi's coalition government, although their share of the vote fell from 10.1 percent in 1996 to 3.9 percent in 2001 (compared to 29.4 percent for Forza Italia).
