The British Army, worried about the threats around the world, declared that the Royal Army was to be expanded, and thousands of soldiers signed up to join the Royal Army.

Funding for the Royal Army’s Intelligence Corps is increased, but due to a small quirk in the wording, all of the money is channeled to the British Army, which uses the chance to increase the effectiveness of sheep-based warfare.

A commission was set up to determine the source of the communist infiltration in Ireland, and it turns out that there was no infiltration, but rather the result of the BBC’s reporting, which was a world-wide source for free, uncensored, and fair news. The BBC had no part in starting the revolution, just offered the unbiased information.

Quietly, the BBC stops reporting on information in France, and slowly they begin to link atrocities from Italy to France, saying that Communism is just as much a threat to the safety of freedom as Totalism.

Radio, a technology booming across Europe, is added to the British Armed Forces wide array of technology, which would allow aeroplanes to communicate with the Royal Navy, to better coordinate their ability to search out and destroy German Submarines.

As the flames of Communism rose higher over the island of Ireland, a daring attempt was made by the British Admiralty. They would send four invasion forces to various cities, but they were lightly defended, so they diverted to the nearby beaches to try and capture them. As it would turn out, somehow, the Communists knew the entire British Naval Plan, and was able to judge that Waterford was the best shot they had at capturing Ireland and making a foothold in the island. The destroyer screen, taken from the blockading forces of Germany, was able to capture a ship flying the French Tricolour. It was deemed to be a merchant ship and not associated with the government, but the ship being there raised suspicions.

As the invasion of Waterford got underway, the Irish Republican Army, of unknown strength, was fighting with reduced capability, as the Loyal Irish Constabulary was able to wreck havoc on their defenses before they were all captured or killed as enemies of the state. Needless to say, the British Navy unleashed their guns on the defenses to try and soften them up, and this was done for a good few hours before the landing craft were set out.
[-114,320 Regulars from Britain.]

As the ships lurched towards the shores, they heard the Irish yelling out commands. A prayer or two was said in the boats, and then the gates dropped. The Irish held their first line of defense right on the beach, in makeshift bunkers. They hid in the rocks, and held Machine Gun positions around the entire landing, able to aim right down on the British. The sound of the clicking machine gun meant Tommies going down. The first few landing craft’s soldiers were almost all killed, nothing more than time to force the Irish to reload as the next wave came. The first line of the Irish defenses finally retreated from their trenches in the sand, running up the hill towards the next line of trenches, still firing down upon the British below. Wave after wave went up the beach, claiming minor fortifications and trenches, moving sandbags to try and get some cover from the bullets raining down upon them. It would seem that the IRA put all their efforts into this one battle, using up all the ammunition they could, and employing all the machine guns they could find. The water of the beach turned a sickly red, as casualties were still inflicted on the advancing British. Few had good fortifications, nor even a good shot. The fighting was brutal, and some say more brutal than life on the Western Front. At the end of the day, the Irish Republican Army, hoping for a big victory over the British, retreated from Waterford and the beach, to regroup elsewhere after taking a large number of casualties, but it was certain - they had inflicted far more on the British, who were only able to claim the capture of Waterford and the surrounding area in the three months remaining in the year.

Along the Western Front, the French begin to engage in low-intensity warfare with the Germans, as they charged at the forward trenches of the German Garrisons. The defenses of Elsass-Lothringen still loomed large in the distance, and the French could do nothing about them. Suddenly, in late May, the Germans started to put up a fierce resistance. What suddenly was once the French attacking the German Fortifications, the Germans surged out of their precious fortifications for the first time in the War, and charged right at the French lines. After severe fighting, the Germans were able to overtake and capture the French Trenches. What was was a Stalemate War, quickly became a mobile war. The French Army was engaging in moving towards Chaumont, to regroup and re-supply. The Germans, thinking the French were in full retreat, took full advantage of this, and by the middle of June, the Germans were able to capture vast swaths of French territory, which put them within 100 miles of Paris.

The railroads were not extended out to this new frontline, and were not going to until December, working at full speed, but the Germans needed supplies, and none were coming. A quick search found that devastating attack were being committed by Partisans and other soldiers, who employed hit and run tactics against the Germans, destroying their ability to re-supply. The German High Command, forced to choose between being destroyed without supplies, and retreating back to Elsass, they choose to retreat back, and just at that moment, the French Army appeared, and begun to attack en-masse, hammering the Germans constantly, over and over again. The Germans, for the first time in the war, had to just retreat. It was not even a fighting retreat, the Germans simply broke and ran, trying to get back to the safety of Elsass. Even as the Germans were able to reach this safety, the French did not give up. Across the front lines, they were able to make advancements over the Germans. While Elsass-Lothringen did not fall, the French were able to surge into the Saar Basin, gaining control of some German Territory, and creating a vulnerable gap, that could serve as a bridge straight into Western Germany.

The Italian Army, focused first on crushing the rebellion in Naples, marches a large Army, joined with some of the new female soldiers, down to Naples, along with one of the largest arrays of Artillery seen in Europe. For a few months, a semi-circle was made around the city. Massive deposits of artillery shells were also lined up. While the citizen soldiers of Naples attempted to fight back against this, the Italian Army was able to crush this. Until the command was given, the Guns were silent. A single cannon shot by the guns of an Italian Cruiser, signalled the barrage. The Artillery was focused on firing into Naples and destroying the city. All of these artillery commanders were conscripted soldiers, but they had just undergone a huge training programme in Italy to command this barrage. As the first hour got underway, an amazing feat never before seen in the history of warfare occurred. One of the shells was loaded wrong, causing a huge explosion of the barrel, which ignited the ammo dump, enough for seven days and seven nights, causing a massive explosion of that ammo dump. Before anyone could realise what happened, 508,032,000 kg of high explosive shells exploded in a hellish fury, destroying everything in its wake, and in a sight not seen before by human eyes, the ring surrounding Naples exploded. The explosion was so large, thousands felt it from miles away. Not a single window was left intact in Naples, and seawater quickly rushed into the massive crater, effectively trapping Naples, and killing untold numbers of civilians and soldiers. Anarchy quickly took over the surrounding area, and the news of this attack spread throughout Italy. In Southern Italy, the Italians were too scared of the King to do anything. Along the Italian Front, the First Army, which was focused in the Italian Alps, lead by the Duke of Aosta, began to fortify their positions. Barbed wire, trenches, and defense strong points were constructed all along this line, and the opposing Germans were doing mostly the same. Fighting in the Alps was a difficult and grueling task, one that both commands felt was needed to be trimmed. However, this was not the case on the rest of the front. The Army of the Bacchiglione, headed by the able commander General Enrico Caviglia, began a general offensive along the German lines, attempting to break through the Germans own offensive movements. The two armies clashed in a bloody and brutal battle. The German General, Magnus von Eberhardt, ordered a daring and impressive maneuver. Using elements of the Austrian 4th Army and the Bavarian 2nd Army, he rushed he units forward, while sending the rest on counter-flanking charge, directed at breaking out and encircling the Italian Army. As this was happening, the Italian Army of the North, headed by General Pietro Badoglio surged across the frontlines, expecting to encircle the German Army, but it was caught in the charge against to try and encircle the Army of the Bacchiglione. Both of these war plans directly counteracted with each other, and quickly General von Eberhardt changed his strategy, he withdrew from the fighting of the Army of the North, and had them loopback, and surge further into Italy, drawing fire to the ranks of the Army of the Bacchiglione. All the Germans needed was for that Army to break, and offer an opening for the Austrian 4th Army to escape into Italy. It was only until a spearhead division of new soldiers “Sturmtruppen”, were able to smash across the lines of the Army of Bacchiglione, freeing up the German Divisions to break out into Italy. The Army of the North, which did have its objective, had a more important threat to nullify, the Bavarian Army, along with General von Eberhardt was loose inside North Italy. The remnants of the two armies were tangled in a confused mess, and the frontlines were not established in the slightest.

Months of fighting like this, hit and runs, raiding parties, and frontal assaults resulted in the First Army being surrounded, to where they were forced to abandon their position, and give up the Alps to the Germans. The German High Command, not used to such disorganization, attempted to assert control over the armies, and only found, to their dismay, the entire leadership of the Italian Front had fallen apart. Armies were acting independently and agreeing on what moves to take next. General von Eberhardt was said to be dead or captured, and no one knew what the front actually was. That said, the Italian Generals were no more organized than their German counterparts. News of anarchy in the South took away Italian troops to restore order, and the British troops had no experience on the battlefield at all. By the time the year ended, all that bloody fighting, running around, and general chaos, led to Germany gaining only a little ground, and both command structures being destroyed.

The Germans, determined to just wash over these trenches, order full-scale assaults. While the first lines of defenses do quickly fall, the middle line causes the Germans a large amount of problems, as they are unable to advance any further, and under constant fire. To make the best of a bad situation, the Germans begun to dig in, turning the light trenches and modest fortifications into their own Trench system. While very close to each other, the Germans superior training was able to force the Polish out of the middle trenches, creating the typical no-mans land that was all so common on the Western Front.

The Republic of Armenia has devolved into anarchy, having been declared a Military Dictatorship by a General of the Armenian Army. While many Armenians thought they would never welcome back the Turkish Army, the Armenian government had entirely collapsed, leaving no recourse for the citizens. In the South, Syria, under attack and besieged by the Iraqis, offered the Turkish Free State a dire offer. For most of Central America’s history, development has come from outside, in the form of foreign governments or companies investing in the various states in exchange for favorable deals on fruit exports or some other concession. However, in 1919, Central America experiences an entirely domestic economic boom, as the nation’s own burgeoning capitalist class pours capital into forestry, mining, and agriculture. However, when the expeditionary force attempts to march on the rebel stronghold in western Panama, they’re met with a truly massive force of pro-independence irregulars, who operate using ambush tactics and rely on their superior knowledge of the terrain. In the end, despite inflicting more than two-to-one casualties on the rebel forces, the United States Army’s advance is repulsed and they retreat back into the Canal Zone after suffering significant losses, while the Panamanian rebels secure their control over western Panama.

This revelation leads to widespread public outrage and is considered by many liberal Congressmen to be ‘the straw that broke the camel’s back.’ Several days later, the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader announce that a Joint Committee on Panama will be gaveled to order in 1920, with the executive branch’s handling of the situation at the forefront of the scheduled hearings.

When he gave speeches they would turn out in the thousands to hear him. They wanted him to sweep the corruption out China and reform it, on one hand, yet they wanted to return their voice.

In accordance with the Treaty of Peking, the armies of the Great Wu began their march on Mongolia intent on subjugating the Mongolian State and incorporating it into China. On the border the infantry of the Wu were met by the lightning calvary of Mongolians. The Mongolians would concentrate on lightning raids disrupting the Wu supply lines. Unfortunately, for the Mongolians more than once did this force ride directly into the jaws of the main body of the Wu Army, resulting in several bloody battles. Ultimately, the Mongolians manage to delay the advance of the Wu Army.

The Wu also moved against the Portuguese outpost of Macau, where they would meet an unexpectedly strong fight from the local Portuguese garrison. This garrison, though stridently anti-communist, was also not about to surrender their city.. The garrison fought hard and were able to maintain control of the island of Macau, though the outlying territories were lost.

Due the ever increasing scope of the war in Europe, and the increasing dangers of blockades and submarine warfare in Europe, the Japanese Empire realigned its trade to focus more on Korea, Manchuria, and the Non-European world. This realignment of trade would lead to small boom in Japanese industry and commerce. The Japanese took this advantage of this trade boom buy constructing a number of rail lines in Japanese Korea, to take advantage the new economic boom.

Efforts to conduct trade with the “uncivilized” nations of South Asia, also known as Siam, failed spectacularly when the Siamese court learns of these instructions and angrily throws the Japanese out of their nation. Meanwhile, Indochina makes use of this to purchase large quantities of arms.

In the Netherlands East Indies, after great ceremony and fanfare, the East Indies are accepted into the Kingdom of the Netherlands as their own, separate, Kingdom. They are known simply as the Dutch East Indies, and have their own Dutch Government, centered in Batavia, that is independent from Amsterdam. It is widely cheered in all of of the Netherlands.

The Empire of Great Wu

The Empire of Great Wu, holding the ever Holy Mandate of Heaven, would like to announce the results of the voting inside the People's Assembly. In a motion that has passed with a fifty-five percent majority, and legislation that has been signed by the Prime Minister, the President, and the Emperor of Great Wu, the Empire of Great Wu proudly announces that, in accordance to our long-standing relationship with the Emperor of the Germans, and of the German Empire as a whole, we shall be conducting Trade and Commerce with the Empire of the Germans. Using our unlimited usage of the Trans-Siberian Railroad, and the Railroads out of Moscow, the Empire of Great Wu shall begin to deliver supplies to the Empire of the Germans, an amount that will be decided upon at a later date.

The Emperor, personally thankful for the long-standing relationship between the German Empire and China, has asked that the Emperor of the Germans accept these supplies and materials as a gift, a personal gift from the Emperor himself. All further commerce will come at a cost to the Empire of the Germans, and we hope that a formal Treaty of Trade can be forged between our two nations.

The Empire of Great Wu would like to make it clear, we care little about European Politics at this time, and this is only to reward those who have treated the Empire of Great Wu in the past with respect and dignity that we deserve as an Independent Nation.

On the home front, We are pleased with the success against the Mongolian rebels, but we warn the Portuguese rebels: Lay down your arms and we will provide for you transportation to a country of your choice, and stop the death that has been enacted so far.

Statement of Her Royal Majesty, Queen Milena Jesenská, concerning the rebuilding efforts

My beloved people,

once again you have humbled me and I thank you all for your truly overwhelming donations to the reconstruction efforts. Due to this and in respects to the ideals of liberty I like to confirm that all spending will be from now on monitored and publiced in the open to ensure transparency and lead to the elimination of corruption.

Furthermore I have to be shockingly truthful in telling you that the destruction nontheless rewards us with the possibility to construct a modern infrastructere and further progresses our evolvement into a modern society. Funds will be spend to allow transport at low cost and high speed, water, electricity and comfort for everyone. We will buy aviation technology to further transport in a revolutionary way and to help monitoring the mountains to avoid hazards and help lost travelers.

Though I am sad to see the recent argument between yet different groups in the Grand Assembly we should not forget that these tiding are normal in a democratic and free society and the reasonable solution will be a constructive dialog like the peace conference we set up for our slavic brothers of Poland and the Ukraine. I like to offer the disputing groups my personal neutral negotiation to find a compromise which all may accept as a start for further negotiations. I speak of further negotiations because it is unreasonable to hope that such tension will go away after a few consultations. Democracy is not a state but a progress and to practise it well it has to be practised constantly. Practise as everyones says makes perfect. We should at least strive for that.

A delicate matter needs to be adressed as well. For centuries a people named Roma has lived in the east and central Europe without real representation and recognition. I like to invite you to settle in the areas which are now left by Germans who do not wish to integrate - as is of course legitimate and understanding - and to enjoy the same rights and liberties as other citizens. We would like to help you preserve your culture and tradition so they may enrich our society and the world as a whole. I know that the years of fear and hatred are not easily forgotten but as we experience a new start it might present us with a unique opportunity. We might as well use it to right an old wrong.

And for a final adress this time I like to present our restoration plan for historical sights. The inner cities and most points of interest shall be renovated and made accessable in the future to help draw in an increasing number of visitors. I like to encourage the founding of tourism agencies so visitors from all over the country and from all over the world may visit Czechoslovakian sides and enjoy their stay in our country. I also encourage inns and restaurants to take measures to increase and ensure quality because food is an important ambassador for a country's image as well.

Thank you again and happy new Year

OOC: Though I no longer play, I still enjoy reading this game.

Found a small mistake.

A constant fighting between the British and the Germans in the Mediterranean prevented either from doing much at all. The Germans would fire their guns and maybe launch a torpedo at an unsuspecting ship, while the British Fleets scurried around, attempting to find their hiding place. A total of one Submarine was sunk, the first in the War, but at a high cost to the British Navy.
[-1 Cruiser from Britain. -3 Destroyers to Britain. -1 Submarine from Germany.]

The first 5 submarines sunk during the war was in the North Sea by the Russian Navy
