Following the battle of San Jacinto, with which the Texan people and army have proven that they are capable of fighting to achieve independence, I have decided to formally recognize the Texan Republic as an independent and sovereign state free of the Mexican States.

This is just a minor setback. These bandits used trickery to achieve victory. They disguised there men as Mexican troops to slip close to the camp without being challenged. As Santa Anna's army marched trough Texas they found dozens of instances of brutal reprisal killings for what are believed to instances of local unrest against the brutally imposed foreign Texan regime. These foreigners who only arrived in the weeks and days before launching there rebellion have shown themselves as traitorous bandits willing to kill anyone to get in there way. Reports of captives are false fleeing Mexicans report seeing summary executions of most of the Mexican troops with only a handful of officers and generals being left alive for ransoms in a foolish attempt to gain more money before they flee overseas with there ill gained loot. I urge the world to not to recognise these bandits as a state as that will merely encourage them to continue plundering the land for there own benefit for a longer time and reduce Texas to the poorest part of the world.

The Russian Empire finds itself backing the status quo in the Italian lands. The situation requires no changing and it is balanced well currently, we feel the people in each nation have their own proper governments and leaders. We also will not permit an attack on the Austrians by Italian adventurers at this time. Europe needs some measure of stability for now and mass invasions are too much of a reminder of earlier times. Order must be recognized as is for now.

We also cheer on the Texans and their brave frontier soldiers.

Mahmud steps forward and looks down, suddenly the Sultan feels a rush of emotions, these are his people and he is charged with their protection, he decided, in that moment that he would never fail his people he would always fight to the utmost for their rights. He throws his sheets of paper with his speech down, this would not be speech from the nobles and the court, but one from the Sultan to his people, the people that he would always protect.

People of the Ottoman Empire! We are an old nation, we are a nation of many cultures, many religions and many different people but we have only one nationality! We are all Ottomans! All citizens of the Ottoman Empire should be equal and next year, after the reforms that are being planned, they will be. All Ottomans, Christian or Muslim, Egyptian or Turk, all will be equal before the Sultan and the law!

On Military issues I would like to announce that after the recent disbandment of the Janissary Corps, a relic from the past which had caused years of neglect and technological backwardness, the Imperial Ottoman Army will be modernized and equipped with new, modern, weapons. We have many borders and our army must be strong if we wish to defend them all. The Imperial Ottoman Army will again be the pride of the nation!

The Janissaries were disbanded in 1826 after the "Auspicious Incident" so I should be fine.
