For the German States (Bavaria, Austria, Prussia). The Bundkorps have been mobilized by the diet, 60,000 troops under Prussia, 30,000 under Austria and 15,000 under Bavaria form the main contingent of this pan-German army. In addition, 2,500 Hannoverians, 1,000 Upper Rhenish (Baden-Wurttemburg), and 1,500 Saxons have joined the korps, as part of their governments' duty to the Frankfurt Diet. The Bundkorps nominally numbers 110,000 men. There are a few options for you three concerning the organization of this force.

1. Keep the Armies separate under their own state flag. Allow the smaller powers to attach themselves to a party of their own chosing, or go it alone. Note, this will damage prestige for failing to adhere to the German Confederation.
2. A loosely cohesive Bundkorps. Each of the armies are nominally part of the Bundkorps, and the Kommandant, but in effect they are do as they wish. The Bavarians and other smaller forces would fall under Bund control.
3. A strong Bundkorps. All of the armies will be merged into one grand force, with a complete chain of command, starting with whoever is appointed* as the Kommandant. The individual powers have very little control over the forces they've committed, if any at all.

In the case of 2 or 3, you will each nominate one commander for the Bundkorps. I will put forth a compromise candidate if no agreement is reached. The division of votes for the Kommandant is as follows:

30% Austria
25% Prussia
15% Bavaria
30% Other

OOC: Sweden invaded Holstein, which is part of the German Confederation. The German states don't just have a reason to declare war on Sweden; we're literally obligated by treaty to do so. If you had chosen to invade one of the Danish islands in the Sound or the rest of the mitten, the rest of Germany wouldn't be getting involved, but your choice of invasion site has forcibly mobilized the entire Bund. I agree that the Dutch DoW is silly, but it's not my GM region. Incidentally, the Prussian Army also has breech-loading rifles. A lot more of them.

The Kingdom of Prussia​

The Kingdom of Prussia believes that unity and cooperation are vital if there is to be a joint Bundkorps operation against the Kingdom of Sweden's invasion force. It is our recommendation that General Karl Wilhelm von Willisen is the best candidate for Bundkorps commander, as he is currently in command of our detachment marching for Holstein. The Royal Prussian Army represents fully half of the Bund forces committed to the war against Sweden and it is our belief that our forces are the best-trained and most suited to serve as the core of the Bundkorps.

His Majesty, Frederik VI, King of the Danes, Rightful King of the Norwegians, Protector of the Swedes, cares little about who leads the Bundkorps; he wishes merely to see the Duchy of Holstein protected and his people free from the tyranny of Marshal Bernadotte.

On that same token, His Majesty wishes to inquire if the Prussians are interested in selling any of their surplus breech-loading guns to the Danish Government; it would both be an economic boon to the Prussian Kingdom, and would help hurry this war to its natural conclusion.

The Prussian and Austrian delegates to the Diet have agreed to a compromise. The entirety of the Bundkorps shall be placed under the command of Karl Wilhelm von Willisen. General Radzetky will be acting as second-in-command for the korps. With this new, strong Bundkorps, the German people shall be victorious.

OOC: Wilhelm von Willisen is now no longer answering directly to the Prussian Monarch, and the entire Bundkorps is under the direction of the Frankfurt Diet.

Upon the exchange of ratifications of the present treaty there shall be peace and friendship between His Majesty and Emperor of the Ottomans, on the one part, and His Majesty and King of the Hellenes, on the other part, as well as between their heirs and successors, their respective States and subjects in perpetuity.

Lisbon Conference: Conclusion

The Lisbon Conference of 1842 began with a hint of urgency from the Egyptian and Ottoman plenipotentiaries. Muhammed-Ali was still in Egypt, directing his country’s war efforts, and the Egyptian people were desperate for peace. In the Ottoman Empire, the military had been repeatedly humiliated and prevented from asserting the Sultan’s authority on his nominal vassal. So on August 12th, the delegates from Prussia, Austria, the United Kingdom, France and Russia arrived to act as mediators and find a solution to the crisis. Two weeks of haggling, extortion, threats and the occasional duel lead to the following treaty, signed by each of the plenipotentiaries from the Great Powers and from Egypt and the Ottoman Empire.


Ramalhão Protocol

An agreement to cordially settle the Oriental Crisis currently afflicting the Levant; effective immediately.

Article 1: On the Matter of Egyptian Sovereignty

Clause A: Egypt shall be free from Ottoman rule
a: The Ottoman Empire shall have no policy control over the Egypt
b: The Ottoman Empire shall remove all soldiers from Egyptian territory recognized by this treaty
c: The Ottoman Empire will renounce any claim it has or believes it has on any Egyptian territory in this treaty
d: The Ottoman Emperor is no longer the suzerain of Egypt

Article 2: Hedjazi Sovereignty

a: The Emirate of Hedjaz is to retain all of their existing territory
b. Any land claimed or owned by the Ottomans and not part of Egypt in the Arabian Peninsula shall be turned over to the Emir of Hedjaz; Excluding al-Aqaba
c. All signatories will recognize the Emirate of Hedjaz as an independent state


Article 3: The Levant

Clause A: International Governance
a. The international community will abstain from interfering in the domestic matters of the Ottoman Levant

a. The Ottoman Empire will receive the entirety of the Levant; Palestine and Syria
b. The Ottoman-Egyptian border shall run from Ramallah on the Mediterranean Sea, to Suez
c. All waterways bisected by this line shall remain wholly in Egyptian territory, as well as their coasts

Article 4: Africa

Clause A: Tunisia

a. The Kingdom of Prussia shall receive the lands of Tunisia
b. The Kingdom of Prussia agrees to settle her debt to the Ottomans in exchange for this land

Clause B: Tripoli

a. The Kingdom of Prussia shall receive the province of Tripoli from the Ottomans

Clause C: Cyrenaica

a. The Egyptian Sultanate will receive the province of Cyrenaica from the Ottomans
b. The border between Prussia and Egypt shall be from Mars al-Burrqha on the Mediterranean Sea; due south into the deserts
c. This marks the eastern boundary of Egypt on the Mediterranean

The Undersigned parties hereby view this document as legally binding, and will strive to uphold its tenants in the interests of peace and security. Signing this document marks an end to hostilities between the Ottoman Empire and Egypt, as well as all allies and supporters of either side.

This treaty leaves us a bit worried. It seems there was too much compromise and there might not be enough pressure from the right sources to get the treaty signed. The Russian Empire will of course take steps to guard itself if the regions to the south refuse to sign and conflict continues. The treaty is not without value but seems unlikely to pass.
