This past year has been a great success for our nation. Our Empire is stable, our presitige within the region increasing, and a large boom has been in our agriculture with the development of the Mekong Delta. This next year shall see a continued pursuing of improvement and westernization by our government, and we once again open our ports and borders to the nations and people of the world. Our empire shall be a symbol of a perfec blend between traditional beliefs and way and modern science and thinking. I will also take this chance to announce that a delegation shall be sent to the Piedmont city of Torino to take part in its Grand Exposition, and that I shall be personally leading this delegation as the first Vietnamese leader to visit a foreign country. I do this for two reason, first to personally learn the newest science and cultural achievements of the world, and secondly as a stop on a visit to Rome, where I will attempt to be baptised into the Roman Catholic church as my father had wanted for himself.

OOC: The emperor given for this game isn't the OTL emperor for this time period, so I'm going with a shift in Dai Nam's history where Gai Long's (founder) second born (first dying shortly after birth) son's (Prince Cảnh) son was kept as Gai Long's heir instead of the OTL shift to Minh Mang (Gai Long's third born son). Prince Cảnh (who died before Gai Long) famously traveled to France to sign an alliance, and wanted greatly to convert to Christianity, which all his descents decided to do, so this should (hopefuly) explain my IC post.

The people of the Dai Nam have been betrayed! Their "Emperor" has switched from the true path of Buddhism and to the Western path of Christianity. This is a betreyal of all that they fought us for. What is independence under a heathen but another type of depotism? At least under the Great Qing the people of Dai Nam were under the Mandate of Heaven, as perscribed by the Gods above.

It has been common knowledge for some time now that my personal religious beliefs are heavily influenced by the teachings of Christianity, like my father before me. Everyone should have the freedom to follow whatever religion they wish. That is one of the principles the United States was founded on, and it has become a world power in and of itself since its birth, something the Qing Empire has not achieved. If I were to be a despot to my people due to my religious beliefs, would I have encouraged Buddhist and Confuscist schools to be founded during our war of independence from your's and your father's tyrannical rule? No, I would not have, but I did. That should be enough evidence to my people that I am still faithful to them and their beliefs. I wish to transform Dai Nam into a beacon for the whole world, that all religions may coexist in peace, regardless of that of the ruler, unlike as has become obvious with the Qing.

His Majesty, Frederik VI, King of the Danes, Rightful King of the Norwegians, and Protector of the Swedes, is interested at the stance taken by the Emperor of the Qing concerning his southern neighbour's religious conviction; this Emperor of Dai Nam has not persecuted his subjects, or forced them to convert to his chosen faith, and has taken a firm stance in defending the freedom of religion in his realm, which is, rightfully so, becoming a prominent idea amongst reformers worldwide. At the same time, the Qing Emperor is condemning the faith of this sole individual, and seems to be calling for a return to conflict in the region. Though His Majesty is presently defending his realm from the imperial ambitions of Marshal Bernadotte, he will not take an unwarranted attack on a nation friendly to Denmark kindly. He also doubts that any liberal nation in Europe would tolerate this assault on their religion, or on the principle of religious freedom.
I am simply stating that the Dai Nam have betrayed the values of the East and sold himself and as a result his entire people to the West. He has done it all so that he may receive assistance from the powerful, if ignorant and backwards Western Heathens.

I can also say that the Dai Nam has lost their mandate of heaven by betraying their ancestors, and any and all imperialistic conquests of the kingdom by Western powers will not result in any help from the true Empire.

The Empire of Austria condemns the Qing actions and is considering cutting all diplomatic relations with the Qing.
It's a bit out of context for europeans to care about Sino-Vietnamese relations in 1840's...

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland would like to reflect upon the achievements and advancements we have made in the past year.
We are pleased to announce that our efforts in strengthening relations with Ireland has been successful, and hope to enter into a new era with our Irish Brothers. No longer shall they be seen as second-class citizens in the British Empire, below Englishmen, but they will be treated as equals. As such, Her Majesty's Government will be moving towards passing a universal law, detailing and outlining a new era of Civil Rights. What shall be called the British Civil Rights Act of 1843, the rights and property of all British Persons shall be taken into account, and we shall introduce a new era for the British Empire, one that promotes Freedom, Democracy, and Good Government for the People.
Moving to affairs abroad, Her Majesty's Government would like to maintain her neutral stance towards the affairs in Scandinavia. We do not condone, condemn, or endorse any actions by any nation. We do, however, make it clear that any neutral shipping effected by the powers at war shall be protected by the Royal Navy. This shall be our one and only warning.
Regarding the situation in the Ottoman Empire and the War in Egypt, Her Majesty's Government would like to establish her goals at this time for the upcoming conference. First, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and the Kingdom of the French shall take control, peacefully, of the Levant, and divide it between each other as seen fit for stability. This shall include all the lands of Syria to the Sinai, but what is known as Iraq shall stay within Ottoman Control. Next, North Africa shall be removed from the Ottoman Empire, and added to the Sultanate of Egypt. Finally, Funds shall be allocated to the Ottoman Empire and the Sultanate of Egypt for both of their losses, and a Treaty of Peace shall be signed between the two.
This has been a message from Her Majesty's Government.
Establishing lands blocking the Ottoman Empire and Egypt from one another would probably benefit long term stability and peace in the region. Though the Russian Empire is not favorable to nations gaining possession of free land they lack connections to, the French and the United Kingdom would be better stewards for such a project than most. Though we are not in the best position to provide resources ourselves, it is also good that financial value be given to both to compensate for the lost economic income from the dividing lands. The Russian Empire supports this proposal, it is likely the best option we will have.
The Kingdom of the French agrees to the propositions put forward by the United Kingdom. An intervention in the region is necessary for the maintaining of stability and peace. History has shown that the Ottomans are not to be trusted with holding these lands. The seizing of the Levant will guarantee maintained stability and the halting of further loss of blood. The Kingdom of the French would like to reassure the civilized world; we will take full responsibility of the new lands and will seek to not only maintain them but to develop the area in order to better the living conditions of the local inhabitants.

On the Matter of the Lisbon Conference:
The Kingdom of Bavaria is strongly questioning the proposal made by the United Kingdom.
Stability - Something that was supposed to be brought back to the Levant and to the middle east. A cause, that is a noble one as it benefits the people, and something that is required for the development of nations.
The Levant - cause of a dispute between Egypt and the Ottomans, a land which caused all the bloodshed and made people devote themselves to the cause of their nation, in service of the State. They believed in the rights of their fathers and in the Idea, that these lands had and always will be theirs.
Now, the United Kingdom is proposing something of questionable viability, which apparently is not thought over at all. The Levant, the cause for which the people of Egypt and the People of the Ottoman Empire bled and fought for, shall just be taken away from both of them. I must ask Her Majesty's Government where is the point in this? These terms are unacceptable to both Egypt and the OE, and will only cause more and more bloodshed to a people which might live in happiness ruled from Constantinople or from Cairo, but they shall never live in the state they will feel a belonging to if this proposal is brought to life.
On the matter of the Bundesintervention:
We, the nations of the German Bund have reason to truly be proud of ourselves. While this might sound questionable, as yet the war is not won, there is different reasoning behind this. Prussia, Austria, Bavaria, the King of Denmark on behalf of the Duchy of Holstein, all have different styles of rule and different ambitions, but we have shown that the German Bund is not just some men sitting in a warm building doing nothing, but that for the greater good of the German people, ambitions and differences are laid aside and all stand united for this noble goal.

On the subject of the Levant, I would like to commend the Her Majesty's Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland for their marvelous work. Truly, a British presence in the area will ensure future peace and prosperity in the Holy Land.
I would also like to go further and commend Her Majesty's Government for their plan to pass their new Civil Rights Act, which reflects the spirit of tolerance and equality that the Greek state was founded on.

The Kingdom of Prussia does not support the proposal regarding the Levant set forth by the government of the United Kingdom. We retain our stated aim: The return of the entirety of the Ottoman Empire's lawful territory, excluding Egypt and the Sudan, to the Ottomans themselves unless otherwise chosen by their government. This includes Syria, the Levant, the Hedjaz, and North Africa. We do not believe regional peace and stability is furthered by a divided Holy Land occupied by foreign powers, which will only serve to inflame tensions among the Muslims in residence there. We further hold that the United Kingdom's peacekeeping power is adequately maintained by their presence on the island of Cyprus, which they have already received. The Kingdom of the French, which has no role whatsoever in the Oriental Crisis or the Eastern Mediterranean, does not even deserve further mention as a relevant power in the region.
The just and proper resolution to the Oriental Crisis is a stable and secure Ottoman Empire, an independent Egypt, and peace in the Mediterranean. It is our considered belief that the stated proposal will result in the precise opposite of these goals and that it should not be supported by the Great Powers of Europe.
The German Confederation has seen fit at this, the 1843 Emergency Session, to hereby Declare War on the Kingdom of Sweden-Norway, for their eggregious actions. They have violated international law and diplomatic conduct by landing their soldiers in foreign territory without a declaration of war, and so are outlaws in our eyes and the eyes of the international community. Furthermore, the Swedish attacked the Duchy of Holstein without provocation, and it being a member of this esteemed Confederation, will be protected by all of her members. I am hereby Mobilizing, with the consent of the Frankfurt Assembly and the Emperor of Austria, the Bundeskorps. Think on your actions, Marshal Bernadotte, for the united armies of all Germania are marching unto your pitiful raiding party, and there shall be no forgiveness for your crimes. You are Gotterdamerung, and we will ensure that you do not forget this fact.
