People of Bavaria, members of the Parliament, i personally thank you for allowing me to aid the People of Egypt, and i think that with the Lisbon Conference, this aid may not have been futile after all.
The Minister of War has shown me the state of the army and the recruits currently undergoing training on the military academies that have been founded have been showing excellent results. The Reconstruction of the foundry, albeit unexpected is further advancing the process of military reform, but the plans for the Walhalla have not been dropped, be reminded. The Plans for the Walhalla are excellent and it will be a shining light in Bavarian culture.
The integration of the new recruits into the Army will be of vital essence to assure our standing within the German Bund and help with the task of defending all member states, whether they have larger or smaller armies, or whatever threat they may face.

Such an attack on one of the parts of the German Bund has just now happened. The King of Denmark, acting as Duke of Holstein and thus one of the sovereigns of the German Bund has been attacked in especially the part of his realm belonging to the German Bund and i call upon a meeting of the German Bundestag in Frankfurt to discuss this matter and whether a mobilization of the Federation's troops is necessary and if necessary, who will send the contingents required.

The Kingdom of Prussia​

By choosing to initiate hostilities against the Kingdom of Denmark without first providing a formal declaration of war or even a valid casus belli, Marshal Bernadotte has proven his criminal recklessness to the entire world. We had thought Bernadotte's terminal idiocy limited merely to making irrational, unfounded statements seemingly custom-designed to reduce the stability of his realm, but it is clear now that his ambition greatly exceeds both his grasp and his intellect. He has further proven this by choosing to invade the Duchy of Holstein, an integral part of the German Confederation, and in so doing has turned every loyal German's hand against him.

In response to this outrageous aggression, on behalf of the German Confederation, and in compliance with the terms of our treaty with Denmark, the Kingdom of Prussia hereby declares war against the Kingdom of Sweden and the so-called House of Bernadotte. 60,000 men of the Royal Prussian Army march north to liberate Holstein from Swedish occupation as I speak. Unless Marshal Bernadotte steps down and renounces the crowns of both Sweden and Norway, their march will not end in Holstein, but in Stockholm itself.

As Sweden's outlaw behavior endangers an internationally-acknowledged state in the Confederation, the German Bundestag will meet in Frankfurt this week to discuss these developments and the possibility of a united German response in defense of Holstein.

I accept their is a growing desire for peace inside Egyptian lands. I accept this move by the People to seek an end to the bitter fighting. But I urge patience the Lisbon congress which should lead to peace has only just started. But regardless of this I urge vigilance by the bureaucracy against the enemy within. The corrupt official is our greatest enemy their very presence weakens or country and prevents it going forward towards the great future it fully deserves. I praise the bravery of our valiant soldiers who have won a tactically valuable victory trapping the bulk of the Ottoman army without any supplies. I also must again thank the valuable contribution to our cause. Egypt will be freed from the Tyranny of Foreign rulers. Citizens, Congressmen, and Ambassadors of these United States --

these States and their respective Government have witnessed a period of growth unlike previous years, taking into account the radically expansionist years of the previous Administration. It is the duty of myself, as a fellow citizen and representative of this nation, to further the goals of the people at home and abroad, to grow the nation economically, as well as diplomatically, and to maintain the sovereignty and independence of these states. Cooperation with the houses of the Congress has helped to achieve these goals in the past year.

Increased domestic immigration to the western frontiers past the Mississippi River has given a new birth to the settlements that are, as I speak now, being established, built upon, and expanded across the unknown and uncharted lands within our borders. Economies have been birthed by the migration of these citizens, making requests to the Government for statehood as an equal among their fellow neighbors of this Union. The States of Wisconsin and Florida have been fully accepted as complete states by the central Government and have achieved statehood. It can only be accepted that the great people of these two states shall only bring further prosperity to this Union.

The disorganization and inability of the state militias to effectively coordinate, organize, and train has been admonished by this government, whose problems have recently been corrected under the Militia Act. The National Guard shall now be a central body from which the individual state National Guards shall be capable of coordinating between other militias across state lines, as well as much more effectively rationing supplies given by the Army and organizing sessions where members will be able to train and hone their skills as a defender of the Union's soil.

Another matter I must attend to regards the commissioning of the USS Harriet Lane as a war-ship of the Fleet, our engineers and technological theorists and developers introducing to our navy of sail a ship of steel and steam; a ship that can outrun any of its competitors. Such technology will be utilized to build warships similar to the Harriet Lane, and will be utilized as well to improve our currently-existing warships in any way, shape, or form.

Also regarding the warships of the American Fleet, the Union has the capability of dispatching vessels under the naval jack of our nation to points across the world to defend American interests, as well as the liberties and freedoms of all people. The unrightful, unprovoked, and dastardly attack by Sweden the previous year has brought about a state of war between Denmark and the aforementioned nation. As a result, with Denmark being a strong ally of the Union, I hereby announce that diplomatic ties shall now be cut with the Swedish Kingdom. Furthermore, a squadron of warships under the flag of this Union shall be dispatched to Danish waters to enforce the inalienable rights of American citizens in the region, and to protect American property and people as they leave the area due to the unforeseen warfare that has erupted there.

With the cooperation and unity of these States, its assorted Peoples, the Congress, and members of the central Government, prosperity can and will be achieved in the next years. This past year was perhaps one of the most important in Dutch history. The Dutch people are the safest they have ever been, and our army is better than ever.

First, I would like to say that the engineers who worked on our new defense system are national heroes. I will be commissioning a monument in their honor. They will be remembered forever.

This new defensive system, which is hereby dubbed the Dutch New Waterline, is perhaps the greatest achievement so far during my reign. However, I will strive during my remaining years to bring this country to new heights. A very important part of this striving is protecting our lands. To this end, I turn towards our Northern Neighbors: the Swedes. They attacked Denmark with no declaration of war, and are clearly imperialists. To protect ourselves, we must stop them. To accomplish this, I hereby declare war on the Swedish warmongers.

The Balkans situation has Russia deeply worried and we are left to assume the worse until proven otherwise. Many people we would call brother are at risk and our southern borders are in danger of being confronted by chaos. Due to the international outcry that has followed Marshal Bernadotte's heinous attack on the Danish Kingdom, which has led to embargoes, declaration of war, closure of embassies, and the general isolation of the Swedish people, we ask the Marshal to find reason and surrender both this war and his ill-begotten crown; perhaps, even at this late a juncture, we can avoid needless death.

On a more positive note, His Majesty, Frederick VI, King of the Danes, Rightful King of the Norwegians, Protector of the Swedes, wishes to announce that a Danish delegation shall be sent to Turin next year to attend this Grand Exposition; we hope to expand world knowledge of the sciences, particularly in the field of astronomy, which His Majesty has long been a patron of.

The Kingdom of Prussia​

The Kingdom of Prussia accepts the invitation extended by His Royal Majesty, King Vittorio Emmanuel II of Piedmont. A Prussian delegation, led by our brother Prince Wilhelm, shall attend the Grand Exposition on behalf of our Kingdom.

Prussia also questions the Netherlands' initiation of hostilities against the Kingdom of Sweden without a casus belli of their own as justification. Their intervention has not been requested by the aggrieved party, the Kingdom of Denmark, nor do they possess a treaty obligation requiring them to wage war in Denmark's defense, as our Kingdom does. While we agree that Sweden's outlaw aggression must be checked, we do not believe it is the place of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to do so.

I question the Dutch as to how the Kingdom of Sweden threatens their borders and how Sweden could possibly fight all of Europe. In relation to this as President of the German Confederation I call the Council to a vote on the possibility of Confederate intervention in the conflict to our north with the goal of defending Holstein from the Swedes. I vote aye to the motion.

OOC: Since Prussia and I are both GPs and and involved in the Oriental Crisis do we get 4 goals? Also if this isn't how the Council should work then sorry.

With the leader of the Confederation, H.M. the Emperor of Austria, calling for the Congress to convene, I hereby call this, the 1843 Emergency Session for the Swedish Invasion of Holstein to order. The representatives from each of the member states of the coalition shall vote on the mobilization of Bund troops, including the large forces from Prussia already committed to this conflict. Furthermore, the issue of leadership for this force must be resolved. Currently, General Radzetsky of Austria has been put forward as a candidate, and should there be no further nominations, he will be appointed as Bundkorps commander. the Austrian representatives have already voted Aye to this resolution, as have the Bavarians. Should there be no naysayers, the Bund will be mobilizing her reserves and going to war with the Kingdom of Sweden-Norway. Godspeed.

The Kingdom of Prussia​

The Kingdom of Prussia votes aye to the proposed resolution. Though we respect the Austrian Empire's leadership of the Confederation, it is our considered belief that the Royal Prussian Army should take the leading role in the united German response to Swedish aggression, as it is already deployed in the area and will likely constitute the largest single unit in the Bundkorps. The army is currently under the command of General Karl Wilhelm von Willisen, a veteran of the Napoleonic Wars and a brilliant military mind. We naturally put his name forth for consideration as Bundkorps commander.
