So the Prussians have decided to intervene in the war. Well perhaps they will be grateful for taking Tunisia off their hands. Since the Entire Prussian Navy is in the middle of a major refit to equip their ships with Steam engines. I wonder why he decided to attack. Perhaps his own greed has got the better of him and he seeks to expand his empire into Africa using his army and dry docked navy. I would like to see how ships have rebuilt fare on the open waters. It might provide some light amusement.

Also with regards to the Levant we simply want a return to our Post war borders in the middle east with the gain of North Africa with Libya cut off from the rest of the empire surely it would be better run by us.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland has reviewed both the Declaration of War placed by the Kingdom of Prussia, as well as a previous agreement with the Kingdom of Prussia. As such, the Admiralty has cleared the way for the British Mediterranean Fleet to be used to transport materials, goods, and soldiers from Königsberg, Prussia to Tunis, Prussia. We still stay committed to Peace with the Sultanate of Egypt, and will reaffirm our recognition of their Sovereignty.

This has been a message from Her Majesty's Government.

The Austrian Empire echoes the Prussians in their condemnation of the Egyptian rejection of peace. If the Egyptians do not agree to the peace treaty then the Austrian Empire will follow our German Brothers into Egypt.

Egypt does not seek further war however the mad Sultan seeks it. He wants to crush the Egyptian beneath his Iron boot. He has made an offer which looks good but it hides the true position of the war. The Sultan is bankrupt and his lands stripped of men and oppressed nationalities are rising up. We offered him a deal which from the position on the ground was very fair. His empire is beginning to fall apart and we gave him a hand to escape. Perhaps a compromise deal between the two extremes can be reached.

The Kingdom of Prussia

A speech given by Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm outside the Stadtschloss in Berlin:

It is my sad duty to report the death of my beloved father and our beloved monarch, King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia. My father's greatness is known across Europe and the world, as one of the noble kings who fought and defeated the tyrant Napoleon alongside our British and Russian allies and thus prevented imperial hegemony from being established across the continent. Under his wise leadership, Prussia has risen to profound heights as one of the world's Great Powers, with one of the best-trained, best-equipped armies on the face of the planet, international prestige, and colonies in both Africa and Asia. Our Kingdom will simply not be the same without him.

However, my fellow Prussians, we must work through our grief and transform it into iron resolve, to further my father's great legacy and ensure that Prussia's greatness is unmatched on this Earth! With Prussia's honorable noblemen, its powerful army, and its ceaseless industry, we can and must do better for the glory of all German people! I shall continue my father's work as your King: expanding Prussian industry, maintaining close friendships with our friends in the United Kingdom, Russia, and Austria, and ensuring that our colonial possessions serve the greater glory of not just our own Kingdom but of all Germans, everywhere.

As King, however, my first act will not be diplomatic or military. Instead, I shall direct my Royal Cabinet toward the creation of a Prussian constitution, a modern document that will enshrine not just the rights of the Crown or the nobility, but those of the farmer and the factory-worker as well! Our constitution shall guarantee basic freedoms for all Prussians, with regional self-government suitably guided and protected by established authority, along with certain rights regarding unions and the press. For too long, Prussia has allowed itself to wallow in archaic, inefficient absolutism, but we must acknowledge the virtues of constitutionalism tempered by tradition and respect. We do this of our own accord, to achieve the modernity that this new industrial age requires!

I say to all my future subjects: when I am crowned tomorrow, I take the throne not just by the grace of God Almighty, but also through the will of the Prussian people! With the Lord's divine providence and the support of my people, I shall rule justly and fairly, my authority supported by these two mighty pillars and the strength of my blessed dynasty. Join me, my people, and we will walk forward into glory together!

His Majesty, the King of Bavaria is saddened at the news from Berlin, and we send our condolences to Friedrich Wilhelm, who has not only lost his King, but also his father.
As King, i highly welcome the goals his majesty the crown prince has set for the Nation. A constitution is a most noble goal and will surely, not only bring him closer to his people, but also the German People closer together, as they come closer and closer to being equal. The closing gap in differences of rights will make it easier for the German People to come together where ever in the land they may be.

We also welcome his will to make the colonies more open to all Germans and allowing them the benefits of colonization even though their state, however big he may be is unable to have colonies. Surely, the option of voyages to Tunisia and goods from the Prussian posessions will enlarge the minds of many.

- His majesty, Ludwig I, King of Bavaria, Duke of Franconia, Count Palatine of the Rhine.

The Kingdom of Greece

Another eventful year for the Kingdom of Greece has passed, and, as always, the changes that have occured are significant.

I would like to personally congratulate Marshal Stavridis for his role in the expansion and modernization of the Hellenic Royal Army. With his contributions, our army is larger and better than ever before. I believe the entire nation is greatful as well to our men in uniform, who continue to safeguard our liberty and our status as an independent nation, free from foreign control. We are forever in the debt of those who would put their lives on the line to defend us.

The modernization of our navy, though not as successful as we might have hoped, was a step in the right direction. I'm sure that, if we continue at this pace, we will have an armada sufficient to defend us against attacks from the sea.

I would like to commend the engineers responsible for the fortification of the Greek border for their hard work and their effort. These will surely provide us with adequate security from foreign incursions.

Finally, but not at all least important, I have seen the conditions of those men and women rising up against Turkish rule. I have seen them groveling in the dirt as the Ottoman tax collectors take what little they have to give. I have seen how Turkish authorities look the other way as Greeks are bullied and treated as cattle. Well, I say, no more! This injustice must END! So, in response to the Greek fight for liberty, and by authorization of Parliament, I hereby declare war on the Ottoman Empire. Let it be known, Sultan, that we will fight to the last man to see our brothers and sisters freed from their chains! Long live Hellas!

~His Majesty George I, King of the Hellenes

Yes, albeit with a new king and a regency.

The Kingdom of the French

I am greatly displeased at the barbaric manner in which Prussia has wrestled in on the conflict in Egypt. First it was said that full independence was supported, but then all these words and promises were thrown away at one whim when the warmongering Prussians scented an opportunity for unlawful expansion of their so called “colonies”. The Kingdom of the French would like to hereby strongly condemn the Kingdom of Prussia for taking part in a war that clearly has the enslavement of the Egyptian People as its primary goal. We do not see how the Kingdom of Prussia has any rights to dictate the foreign policy of Egypt – or perhaps the “divine power of God” has given the Prussian King the ability to control other independent states too. We wish the people of Egypt many victories; we wish that one day they become fully independent, even If they do have to first stop the Prussian wave of aggression.
I, and the people I lead, believe that Egypt is fighting a rightful fighting against an enemy who clearly is in the wrong. The Prussians have shown that they do not respect any conventional means of diplomacy – their policy is the one of threats and violence. We hope that the Egyptian conflict does not split off into other areas of the region. The interests of the French in Northern Africa will be preserved by force of arms if it is necessary, although any armed conflicts are strongly undesired by the Kingdom of the French.

We would also like to point out that as much as any state has the freedom of using their navy in any way they desire, this freedom must not impact upon the freedom of others. We believe that the United Kingdom’s justification of the conflict was biased and unfair; clearly they too want to hamper the development of the independent Egyptian state.
The Kingdom of the French promises no longer to stay idle in response to brutal expansionism. We tried to pretend that our neighbours intended to preserve peace, but this can no longer be achieved. The French Crown will authorize the infrastructural and military expansion of its North African colonies. We feel that our colonies need to have defence and self-sustainment capabilities in case a severe diplomatic crisis were to erupt. We would also like to make some ties with the independent people of Egypt – financial aid, in order to ease the suffering of ordinary Egyptians of course, could be provided by the Kingdom of the French. I am sure all the people of these lands will agree with me when I say that it is our upmost duty to help the development of friendly and peaceful nations who were perhaps not as fortunate as us.
We can only hope that the promised Prussian constitution really does introduce peace and equality. It seems that Prussia’s internal policy is the exact opposite of what it is doing to the aspiring Sultanate of Egypt. Modernization and war seem like an awkward combination – it would be more modern of Prussia to simply leave Egypt and recognise that independent states can have their own foreign policy, without the meddling of power hungry states.

-Louis-Philippe the First, King of the French

The Kingdom of Prussia

The Kingdom of Prussia has undertaken military intervention in Egypt solely due to the Sultan of Egypt's unilateral rejection of reasonable peace terms and any further negotiation. We support Egyptian independence, as it is clearly the will of the Egyptian people, but do not consider Egypt's claims to the Levant or the Hedjaz valid or rooted in anything other than greed on the part of Muhammad Ali, especially considering the former's current occupation by Ottoman forces. We would gladly accept further diplomacy on the subject, but it is the Sultan of Egypt that stands as an obstacle to a peaceful resolution of the Oriental Crisis, not the Ottoman Empire or Prussia. Until Muhammad Ali of Egypt agrees to some form of mediation, we will continue the course that we have set, which will invariably result in Egypt's total military defeat at the hands of the Prussian Army.

I must remind the Prussians that Egypt has a strong claim to the Syrian territories. They were promised to Muhammad in exchange for Egyptian assistance in the Greek war of Independence. In other respects the we have already begun meditations with the Ottomans and a compromise deal has been suggested but we have had no response. We are currently thinking they intend to use your forces to liberate Egypt for them as they clearly think they lack the forces. When the dust has settled any deal not written down will be forgotten by the Sultan I assure you it wouldn't be the first time a Sultan has some how forgotten about a pledge or promise. I ask you not to get involved in a complicated matter. We are defending ourselves against Hostile attack by a corrupt Sultanate with endless greed. They fight too satisfy there Greed we fight to protect Arab rights and Islam from the greed and corruption of Ottoman sultans.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland would like to make it known to the Kingdom of the French that The United Kingdom's usage of the Royal Navy is determined by London and London alone. While you may think one thing, we are simply using our navy in the development of a greater friendship between the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Prussia. The Kingdom of the French would find it wise to remain silent on the operations of the Royal Navy, as it is the single most powerful force around the world ensuring that the trade routes for all nations remain free and open. Not only that, the Royal Navy is patrolling the Atlantic Ocean, searching for Illegal Slave Traders. The United Kingdom is doing more for the development and advancement of all the nations of the world than the Kingdom of the French is doing for it's own nation.

This has been a message from Her Majesty's Government.
