After much contemplation, it is Our considered belief that further strife in Italy will not further any legitimate end beyond killing Our faithful Catholic subjects and promoting disharmony and negative feelings between the noble monarchs of Our Holy Roman Church.
Therefore, We call for an immediate end to hostilities in Italy between the Austrian Emperor, the King of Sardinia-Piedmont, and the King of the Two Sicilies. Furthermore, We invite representatives from each monarch to join Us in the Lateran Palace in Rome, with Our promise of safe passage, to conduct negotiations for a lasting and permanent peace in the Italian Peninsula.
Should any monarch or officer thereof order their soldiers to defy Our will for peace and amity among their Christian brothers without first sitting at Our table to discuss their differences, We shall exercise our authority as God's Vice-Regent on Earth and Bishop of Rome to bar them from receiving the sacraments or absolution in Our Holy Church. Any soldier, officer, or nobleman who acts in violation of Our will shall die unshriven and will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

The support from Egypt and the American government are heartening, and the American offer is a symbol of the warmth and greatness of Dano-American relations. However, the Danish government assures that American property and assets in Danish and Swedish lands will not be damaged, and that Danish ships will protect any American ships sailing in the Baltic.
Concerning the ramblings of Marshal Bernadotte, His Majesty wonders how, in any way, is the Kingdom of Denmark forcing the Kalmar Union upon Sweden? This most recent Act, which has been moderated by just British concerns, does little to impose such a Union, and that merely requiring a flag to be flown by Swedish warships (as well as an increased toll) is not a creation of a new Scandinavian Union.
Of final note, all Swedish military vessels are to be stopped at the Strait, as everyone knows; however, should any such vessel try to run the blockade, Danish ships are instructed not to fire on it; rather, the ship shall be boarded, and its crew will be given the opportunity to serve in the Danish Royal Navy. Should they decline, they will be transported to Sweden.

The Swedish government would like to remind the Danes that we don't even use the strait and we refuse to fly the Kalmar Union flag at the Danish request.

I am most enlightened to see the Progress of our Great Nation. While others focus on war and industry, they seem to forget that a nation is nothing with culture and with its Ideals. We can and we shall not let our Ideals get devoured by the new Ideas rising up on the Horizon.
I see our nation strife for greater culture and for a great Identity. In the future i want to make Munich a city whose light will shine within all of Europe, where men from all of Europe can link up, discuss their ideas and carry Bavaria onwards.
As Munich needs to grow beyond its original boundaries it has been decided to ease up immigrantion into Bavaria and we have started to hire some of the most famous People of this new Cultural Era. Offers have been sent to for example Felix Mendelssohn, Richard Wagner and the Munich Philharmony, a great place to present these new works of music is currently undergoing construction.
On Further notice we have seen the Plans of the Saxon Railway Companys and states, and we would offer to continue the Bavarian State Railroad network from Nürnberg through Hof towards Coburg, in the nation of Saxe-Coburg, from whereon the extension of this rail network will be made by their State Railroad.
We furthermore would like to come to an agreement with the Grand Duke of Hesse and his Government, so that the connection between the Western parts of Bavaria and the Rhine-palatinate could start.

OOC: Everyone bordering the Baltic Sea uses the Oresund and pays the Sound Toll to Denmark. Norway doesn't need it because they have ports on the North Sea, but Sweden's coastline is entirely within the Baltic and losing access to the Oresund will cripple your ability to receive goods by sea. So, yeah, either you give in to Denmark's demands here or you're blockaded. This is just my understanding as a player, since I don't GM the region, but I'm pretty sure I'm right here.

The Conference of Rome
In early 1841, an armistice brokered by Pope Gregory XVI between the Austrian Empire, the Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont, and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies (claiming the title and throne of the Kingdom of Italy) went into effect. This cease-fire, which extended to both land and naval troops, required that there be no military action for the duration of the negotiations in the Lateran Palace in Rome.
With all three parties agreed to the temporary truce, delegations from each power were sent to Rome to begin an exhaustive series of negotiations over the fate of the Italian Peninsula, an event that would likely shape events in the Mediterranean for years to come...
GM: The players of Austria, Sardinia-Piedmont, and the Two Sicilies need to send me a negotiation plan either via PM or via IRC. Negotiation plans are three clear, concise sentences instructing your representatives on your country's most important diplomatic objectives, including territory, titles, disarmament, and so on. While you will have the choice to either ratify or reject the treaty proposal that comes out of the Conference, your diplomats will be the ones haggling over the details. If you don't send me a negotiating plan by the update deadline, I'll make one for you.
Furthermore, any Great Power besides Austria (who's already at the negotiating table) can send me a single concise sentence regarding their desires for Italy, representing each GP's sizable diplomatic clout despite their not being present at the conference. This will have a chance to influence the resulting proposal. This is entirely optional and any attempt to influence negotiations comes with a certain amount of risk, so a GP can choose to simply stay out of it entirely.
Regardless, all diplomatic efforts are due by the deadline (Friday, November 9th). As a reminder, the three belligerents in the Italian War are now in an official cease-fire and any military action during the cease-fire will result in the loss of prestige, stability, or both.
EDIT: For the record, "Create an independent Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia." is an example of a single concise sentence. One diplomatic goal per sentence; no cramming in six or seven different things.

Juan Mariano de Figueras
Born on April 17th, 1795, Juan Mariano de Figueras, was part of the respected Figueras family who had been staunch supporters of independence. His father served as a colonel during the war for independence and as a lawyer before conflict began in 1810. Surrounded by liberal thinkers, the young Juan Mariano held ambitions of being a lawyer in the new republic being born in his country. Particularly interested by the American constitution and law, he surprised his relatives by studying at William and Mary School of Law instead of in Europe.
Returning home in 1817 to handle the affairs of his family's estate after the death of his older brother he entered into Mexican landowner society and was highly regarded as a man of great intellect and charisma. After independence he was elected to the Senate and was known as a proponent of constitutional and social reform who despised Santa Anna and his kind. When Guadalupe Victoria was elected president for a second time in 1840 to bring and end in the war with American and provide some stability to the government, Juan Mariano, would become his vice-president in an effort to appease the liberals who were growing in popularity after the disasters brought on by the landowning class.

My friends, members of Congress and Government, and the great citizens of these United States:
I speak to you today with the great pleasure of being the President of this Union. I speak to you today not as your leader, but as a fellow citizen. I speak to you today in my last address to the American Nation as President of this great country.
The last four years have been some of the most important and greatest of my life. Serving as the elected leader of so many great people is an honor no other man on this Earth can truly be bestowed upon; it is an honor, a badge, that I shall wear proudly for the rest of my life.
The United States is a land not only of democracy, but the things that characterize such a nation: justice, liberty, equality, and freedom. Representative government is more effective than any other type of administration on this Earth, and it is the God-given right of the American people to bring this insoluble Union to a place of prosperity, peace, growth, and democracy. It is good that these virtues, so good and so grand, are instilled within the hearts of every American.
During this four-year period and my time as President, we, as a nation, have experienced unforeseen economic growth: our industries in our major population centers have grown massively; our railroads have been expanded to increase interstate commerce and ease communication and travel; and trade has been opened up with regional and Trans-Atlantic allies and partners of the United States, factiliating stronger relations as well as larger sums of resources and wealth.
We have also seen diplomatic and military victories in the last four years. The spontaneous conflict started by the Mexican Republic over the rightful State of Texas was ended following the defeat of Santa Anna by American, Mexican, and Central American soldiers and the settling of relinquishing territory to the Union. The West is now ours, and we have reached the grand Pacific Ocean. Development - economical and infrastructural - has already begun in these unexplored and undeveloped parts. It is the hope of the United States Government, as well as each and every American, that these newfoud territories and areas of the United States shall see a new-found prosperity in the coming years.
Though my administration was certainly not a perfect term - though I may not be viewed as the greatest of President of past or future - I have done my utmost while seated in the chair filled in the past by the great Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Monroe, and Madison. Every decision I have made, domestic or foreign, I believed to be in the best interests of this Union and her people.
It is one of the great wonders of democracy - and, no less, of the American Union and its People - that this change of executive heads; this "passing of the torch", as it is oft called - occurs without any violence between the Citizens of this Nation, nor between any ill-will or hatred between members of the parties or government. It is such a grand happening that shall make the Union forever a nation of greatness, bestowed upon us by Almighty God and carried on by the greatness of the American People.
And now, for the last time, I bid the American People a goodbye and a thank you. May God Bless the United States of America.

Members of the Senate, the House, government workers, foreign ambassadors, and Citizens of these United States:
It is the greatest honor of any man of God's great Earth that I speak to you as the President of these united States. The last year of campaigning in my run to gain this great seat was a most fruitful one; as I believe to be a man so equipped and ready to meet the challenges of being President of this Union.
It is my greatest goal and objective to work in tandem with the great Legislative body of this Nation; Congress, as well as consent with the Citizenry - to promote the general welfare, ensure domestic tranquility, and provide for the common defense - as every man who has sat in this noble seat has done. In my four-year tenure as President of the Union, the government and the Congress will provide a guiding hand for a growing and expanding economy in this competitive world market. Tariffs shall be put in place - and raised, should the situations warrant - to protect against an invasion foreign market. American businesses shall see new-found growth and monetary surpluses that have not been seen under the last two administrations of the Presidents Jackson and Van Buren. These administrations stymied economic growth and further allowed the expansion of the horrible institution of slavery. The admission of the State of Texas was not only a victory for the Union, but it was a victory for the peculiar institution that has further expanded across the hills and fields of this American Continent. If our society - no our Glorious Union - is to survive and prosper, this terrible practice must not be allowed to reach further across the lands of God's good Earth.
Our military is the finest of all the lands of this New World. Our Army has defended our borders and defeated the tyrannical general Santa Anna in central Mexico under the grand leadership of the American Generals Winfield Scott, Zachary Taylor, and Franklin Pierce. Our Navy defends our coast and the merchant marine of this Union, defending Liberty, and the economy and businesses that bring Prosperity for these lands. To protect our trade and our very Liberty against tyranny, Imperialism, and aggression, our military must see expansion and growth at a steady and strong rate. Weapons and equipment must, to increase effectiveness, be constantly upgraded and improved. Should national interests, American citizens, property, or territory be threatened, bluffs must not be made; we must be ready for a national conflict at a moment's notice. They must either back down or be ready for war with the Union.
On the field of foreign affairs, we must be constantly more vigilant. Unlike my predecessor, Mr. Van Buren, I shall not trample down on those clamoring for a democratic government; the new Republics in Central America shall be recognized as fully independent governments capable of self-rule. The vicious and unwarranted blockade of these Republics shall be lifted; the Navy shall remain on station and, with approval from Congress, United States Marines shall be deployed should these new Republics be threatened by the government of Central America or any other Latin American government. War is not for what we wish; but if it is necessary to defend democracy worldwide, then it is the duty of our government of the people and by the people to do so. Our warm relationships with nations like the Chilean Republic and the Danish Kingdom, as well as the United Kingdom, shall continue to be economically and diplomatically fruitful for both parties. These nations, champions of democracy and representative government, shall join us in a growing concert of nations for those that champion the human spirit, as well as the freedoms to speak and believe freely, as well as to be free from oppression, and to be forever free in thought and action. I offer a permanent hand of friendship and cooperation, for now and for-ever, to these nations that shall forever and always be a nation of, by, and for the people. I invite any nation of this world otherwise to also take this hand should they choose to become a nation of freedom and prosperity.
And so, I ask for the hand of each and every American for these next our years, as we move toward a period of great economic growth, national and international security, and to prove ourselves and the world that, regardless of color of skin or political affiliation, we are a great Union capable of great things.

If the President fails to recognize the independence and self-rule of these people, steps will be taken to ensure the freedom and liberty of those that seek independence and self-rule.
