The reign of Tlatoani Chicauah
Tlatoani Chicauah, one of the Achtopochtecapiltzmeh, would mainly be remembered for his adoption of the Quixpix plan for distributing the inheritance of the Coaxoch and Atlaticquipiltzmeh. It wasn’t without obstacles though; amendments had to be made due to the plan being so old that it contained allotments to long-extinct clans, causing some land to not actually being redistributed. Also, the increasingly xenophobic Clan of Yolotli still resided in the lands formerly belonging to the Atlaticquipiltzmeh.
Clan Xiuhcoatl
Another notable event that transpired during Chicauah’s reign was the claiming of Tepoztepetl, Copper Hill, by the Xipil of the Xiuhcoatl Clan. The Xipil had claimed the hill for her clan because it was the site at which she had received the Mark of the Fire Serpent, and because the red rocks found there were a gift from the god Xiuhcoatl. Others suspected that she was doing it because copper-rich rock such as the one found at Tepoztepetl was useful for making weapons. So far, the Xiuhcoatl clansmen had built a small compound surrounded by a wooden palisade, and no mining was going on. The settlement had been attacked once - by a spectacled snow bear - but it had been put down by the clan warriors staying there.
The Xiuhcoatl had also tried establishing themselves as trap fishers by the river. However, there weren’t enough fish to be caught there, and eventually gave up, selling their fish traps on the market as baskets. This was actually sort of profitable though, so weaving baskets became a common pastime among the clansmen of Xiuhcoatl.
((Claimed Tepoztepetl, Copper Hill, established Basketweaving (+1 wealth)))
Clan Tlanextic
The Tlanextic continued the training of even more warriors, even though they were already by far the most militarized clan in the realm of Atlauhtipan. The warriors spent most of their time hunting, and brought down many a wild beast. The meat was cooked and eaten when the game was brought home, while the skins were used for clothes and even military standards for the different groups of warriors - the most popular animal to be used for this purpose was the jaguar. The Tonauac was also gifted two captured lynxes, which he used as pets.
The new Tonauac, like his predecessor also headed out on an expedition, this time to the land of the Cahualpehuah, They-Herd-Horses, which lied to the far north-west of Atlauhtipan, on a peninsula in the northern end of the Smoking Sea. About half of these tough and very strong people were indeed horse-herders and spent their days out in the cold tundra with their horses, while many others lived in caves in the western part of the peninsula, hunting and fishing for food and digging deep mine shafts into the underground. All in all, the lands were surprisingly productive despite the low temperatures. The military of the Cahualpehuah seemed slightly inferior in numbers to that of Atlauhtipan; they had 60 archers armed with bows of varying quality and 30 poorly armed militiamen guarding their caves. However, their caves were easily defended, and it would probably take a lot of men to conquer the altepetl of the Cahualpehuah.
((recruited 60 archers more, +9 food and +6 production from hunting, established Featherworking (+1 wealth, +1 research), military standards (+1 xp to all troops), lynx pets (+1 culture, +2 happiness)))
((Map of Cahualpehuahtlalpan. They have 30 ordinary archers, 30 composite archers and 30 tribal guardians (2 strength), and +35% defense bonus in their capital, which don’t show on the map since they are Neanderthalers))
Clan Achtopochtecapiltzmeh
The Achtopochtecapiltzmeh, from which Tlatoani Chicauah hailed, didn’t do much of interest during his reign. They claimed the eastern woods in Nanacatlan from the extinct clan of Eztli, and took over the collection of bark from the fine trees of this forest, and in Atlauhtipan they built a new dining hall, where they all ate together when they came home from the woods of Nanacatlan.
((inherited Bark Gathering, constructed Dining Hall (+1 health, +3 food, +1 culture)))
Clan Cuallitechichic
The clansmen of Cuallitechichic decided that they would begin making their own charcoal. The project went along nicely, although the neighbors complained about the smoke.
((established Charcoal burning (+1 production, -1 health)))
Clan Maximotl
The chief of the Maximoh wished to begin recording the history of Atlauhtipan, so that it would never be forgotten, but alas he and his clansmen were too busy providing for themselves and their families that the project didn’t get very far.
((City size of 6 required for production of paper, parchment or tablets - Atlauhtipan is 3.))
Clan Cecuecacayotin
Although their chief didn’t lack in ambition, the resources of the clan were to stretched out for anything to be done this turn.
((not enough production points this turn, orders saved for next))
Clan Tonatepotztocah
The Tonatepotztocah finally managed to establish a mining operation at the foot of the mountain just north of Atlauhtipan. The operation was, in a manner of speaking, a true gold mine for the Tonatepotztocah and they sold many different kinds of rock and metals found in the bowels of the mountains. These sales provided a much needed income for the heavily indebted Tonatepotztocah, and made them the most productive clan in Atlauhtipan, even surpassing the industrious Tlanextic.
((Established Mining Camp (+5 production, +3 wealth)))
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, Chicauah’s reign wasn’t a particularly long one, and it wasn’t very eventful either. Our borders expanded slightly, first to the east due to our fledgling culture, and then to the west due to the claiming of the Xipil of Xiuhcoatl.
But it’ll soon be time for settling some new land again. This time it is not only the Cecuecacayotin and Xiuhcoatl who are in need of more land, but also the Achtopochtecapiltzmeh. (
@Galren ,
@chopak and
@barkardes must agree on where to settle the next pop -
here is a map for it)
Stats have been partially updated, I still have to implement the Quixpix plan. Meanwhile, you can post reactions or propose new laws or something.
