Cmon guys, we need only one position filled to start this.

The idea of Walter playing as the Blue Dog Coalition until someone who wants it comes and get it is a good one.

Socialist Party USA

Leader: Stewart Alexander
Ideology: Democratic Socialism, Anti-Capitalism

Economic System & Public/Private ownership:
Socialist Party believes that the American people and not some out of touch billionaire should own essential services, such as railways, gas, telecommunications, hospitals, universities, big investment banks, mining, electricity production and other large industries. We further believe that our democracy is not a true democracy if people cannot decide what happens the companies they work in. We therefore propose large tax incentives for companies which implement some sort workers' management.

Regulations

We propose strict regulations for financial services, breaking up banks that are »too big to fail« and legislation that would prevent further financial crises. We support strengthening the rights of the employees and more efficient protection of workers.

Environmentalism

We recognise global warming as a threat to the USA and propose a carbon tax, incentives for electric cars, wind electricity, nuclear electricity and closure of all coal power plants. We propose better protection of the environment and establishing more national parks.

Taxation

We propose higher rates of income tax for high earners and also a 90 % income tax on all earning above 1 million dollars. We are in favour of raising Social Security tax for employers and introducing progressive rates for this tax. We favour increase of inheritance tax for large inheritances, so that everyone has to work and not live off the work of their parents and grandparents.

Tariffs

We are in favour of tariffs, but only after careful consideration of their effect on our international relationships.

Unionization & Strikes

We fully support the workers’ right to strike and their right to join the unions. We believe that American economy worked best when unionisation was at the highest (in the 1950’s).

Welfare and Social Services

We support the increase of the minimum wage to comparable levels of other developed countries. We would introduce minimum of 28 paid vacation days for every worker as is the case in Europe. We would increase unemployment benefits and child allowance. We believe college should be free for all Americans.

Secularism & Religion

Religion is a private matter and the state has no right of interfering with it and vice versa. We would ensure that government decisions do not imply that religion is more important than the other.

Freedom of expression

We utterly support rights of citizens to express themselves however they wish.

Freedom of Assembly & Protest

We support freedom of assembly and are outraged at attempts to disrupt peaceful demonstrations, like Occupy Wall Street.

Nationalism

We believe all nations should work together to ensure peace throughout the world. We oppose any use of military force outside the USA and would favour the decrease of military budget.

Immigration

Immigration strengthens our nation and we welcome any foreigners who seek liberty and economic security to come to USA.

Society

We support human rights above all else and would institute federal gay marriage bill on the first day of our administration. We support affirmative action and Equal Rights amendment to the constitution.

Arise,ye princes of Starvation!

"Dear Sirs and Madams,
The actions of American foreign and internal policy to help the immigrants that arrive to the United States of America, like the current Government under the leadership of President Barack Obama wishes to do,is and will always be supported from the Communist Party of USA,like we have firmly supported since time immemorial! It has been always sought by fascist elements to try and remove immigrants from the very same nation that has grown out of their races and struggles, but we shall not accept any such action!

No one has ever tried world - wide to stop the Communists from helping the worker's class like the American society in the past few decades has done. The truth is,that there has never been true communism on earth, for communism is direct democracy in it's simplest form of allowing the workers themselves decide for their future, unlike the current Democracy that we are living. We,as communists and as people, have always been stigmatised in the American society as "traitors" and "working with the enemy".Such claims couldn't be further than the truth.

My beloved spectators,a time for reformation has come.In an ever - changing political landscape, especially like the one we are living today because of the time and resource pressure in our everyday lives, everyone has to adapt and change so that he may thrive in new cirmumstances and situations.Everyone has changed, both the far - left and the far - right, and have adapted to new situations. But why does the American society, dear people, still insist on stigmatising the left?Isn't the American Society prone to the changes that times brings after all?

Mr. Barack Obama once said "Yes,we can".And such words were not spoken by the mouths of the minority, but by the representative of the majority. But wouldn't it be foolish to undermine the will of the majority as a whole? If the American Society can indeed change, why doesn't it?Shouldn't the American Society begin accepting the far - left as Americans and not as outsiders?Weren't we,after all,the ones in the past that helped the worker's fight the corrupted elite and earn their rights?Weren't we the ones that helped immigrants in America find shelter and food?Weren't we the ones that accepted all citizens in America as equals? Why is it then, that the American Society is willing to accept the far - right, which has hurt and can hurt the nation so much more, and not the far - left. Why should our races for the best of America and her citizens be forgotten?

It is not however without saying, that the current government, despite it's potential to fulfil the socialist dream, has done more harm than good.Instead of resolving internal matters regarding the economy and the political spectre that is terrorism from paramilitaries inside America, the Barack administration is willing to send America's finest soldiers, who are people like us,off to foreign countries,in order to inspire an American Imperialist dream of world domination among the American Society.Isn't it even more bewildering, that Mr. Barack Obama insists on a "War against Terrorism" of which exists only in external matters?Aren't the countless paramilitaries that have formed within the United States through the previous years a proof, that something has gone awfully wrong with the current policies of the government?

My beloved spectators, the time when you control your destiny has finally come!We will make no promises of a socialist Utopia, for words without actions are empty words without a meaning. But,we ensure that we will try our best to ensure the fulfillment of the socialist dream. It will be a hard race against both conservative elements of the American Society and the far - right opposition. But it will be a race worth fighting, for even if we fail on our way to help the American People,we,together with all of you that vote for us,will be remembered in Glory by our children and by our children's children. For it will be us,that will try and ensure a communist state that helps it's people and doesn't care to gather all the power it can, like the far - right fascists would love to do.

For Freedom of the oppresion of conservative and fascists elements and into a new, free world with no inequality!"

The Government has gone too far! The rights and liberties of all Americans are threatened by the pseudo-capitalist Democrats. They are nothing but dirty socialists and communists who seek to destroy the right of Americans to defend themselves from government excess, moral decay and economic destruction due to a faulty belief in the socialist state.

I ask on true Americans to follow our Path unto Glory and separate the Government from the Economy and from our private lives. Reject the dirty socialists that currently reside in our capital and follow the American Independence Party towards our date with God.

No more shall American Exceptionalism be squandered and crushed beneath Democrat incompetence.

~Tom Hoefling, Chairman of America's Party

I am glad to again have the support of America and to have this chance to make a difference.

To begin this term right, I would like to immediately suggest several bills to be proposed to Congress. ((Presumably someone in my caucus actually introduces them))

With the extreme tragedy of the Sandy Hook shooting still in our thoughts, and weighing on our hearts, I urge Congress to finally pass responsible legislation tightening up Gun Control with background checks and basic controls on ammunition, waiting periods, and actually enforcing our current laws.

Make Our Communities Safe For Our Children With Responsible Action Act
-Stricter enforcement of current laws
-Mandatory background checks
-Ammunition limits on handguns

With inflation and the current recession, more and more people are reduced to subsisting at the minimum wage. What in times of prosperity is a temporary stepping-stone has become a permanent situation for many families. I would call for the fair and reasonable increase of federal minimum wage.

Adjusting The Minimum Wage For Inflation And Fairness Act
-
Minimum wage set to 4/10

Corporations are a great asset to America, but there are currently many unintended loopholes in tax code pertaining to them.

Corporate Tax Fairness Act
-Corporate Tax set to 13.0%

Thank you.

~Barack Obama, President of the United States Of America
-New Democrat Coalition-

We must oppose the bills proposed by the President. With the economy continue to struggle, the last thing we need to do is increase taxes and raise costs on employers. We certainly support getting rid of loopholes that the special interests have put in the tax code but must oppose an increase in taxes at this time. While we also mourn the loss of life in Sandy Hook, we must be cautious in imposing gun control. The 2nd Amendment protects the right to bear arms and law abiding citizens should not be denied the full exercise of that right. We support efforts to improve enforcement of current laws and keeping guns away from criminals and the mentally ill.

Sen. Susan Collins - Republican Main Street Partnership

The Objectivist Party opposes all proposed legislation.

First and foremost, the government has no place in restricting the right to bear arms; if Mr Obama desires to disregard the constitution, perhaps he should go about it in a more clever manner. This proposed law will have no positive affect on gun crime, and may very well make such crimes even more problematic. If the president desires to reduce violent crime, he should first end the foolish war on drugs, thereby cutting off gangs from their main source of income, and allowing meaningful, privatised medical reforms in the mental health field. Banning guns for law-abiding citizens will not reduce crime.

In regards to the second proposal, a higher minimum wage will only ensure that teenagers and unskilled labourers will either lose their jobs or not be hired at all. Furthermore, very few people are even hired at minimum wage, and would likely only see those who are employed at that rate unemployed. Lastly, in this time of economic malaise, do we really want to see more people unemployed?

Concerning this increase in corporate taxes, we again believe this will be detrimental to economic growth, or the petty stagnation that has become the trademark of this administration. If this government wants to find more revenues, adopting a flat tax and removing tax shelters would be far more effective than driving away businesses from our shores. Mr Obama may have "saved Detroit" but if he wants those companies to start outsourcing even more, both due to higher taxes and half-thought out minimum wage policies, he will soon see Detroit even more worse off than it is!

Dr Tom Stevens

We would like to note for Senator Collins that many studies show that increasing the minimum wage increases productivity and consumption, and such benefits would surely outweigh the downsides of helping poor american families feed themselves.

As for Gun Control, we would like to point out that the bill by no means denies citizens the right to bear arms, but rather rids us of many nonsensical status-quo pertaining to the subject. If the Senator has a suggestion please let it be known.

-New Democrat Coalition-

((As a OOC note, I didn't know what to put in the Gun Control bill other than addressing the "right to bear arms" statistic, the OOC intention was for it to be approximately similar to some proposed legislation recently in real life, but I was not sure how to put that into game-play terms. Walter, could you enlighten me?

Also, sorry If I don't respond IC to minor parties, I haven't thought of a plausible reason to do so since minor parties are pretty much irrelevant in FTTP and politicians usually being pragmatic you know. Good posts though, guys.))

Arise,ye wretched of the Earth!

We,at the Communist Party USA,OPPOSE MAKE OUR COMMUNITIES SAFE FOR OUR CHILDREN WITH RESPONSIBLE ACTION ACT AND SUPPORT THE OTHER TWO.
Our workers must be protected from the ever-growing greedy claws of capitalism.By ensuring a higher minimum wage we can be sure that productivity will rise and the people will have more money to spend on products to support the economical cycle of capitalism, how bad that may be.However,we deny to see our people's rights of bearing arms to be stolen by the government. It is not the gun itself neither the act of buying that causes those deaths, but it is the ever-pressuring society of America and the lack of educational support for the lower classes. If it were to us,we would gladly overhaul the education system in order to provide useful knowledge to the people and be just and free for everyone.By restricting gun ownership nothing can be achieved,It is only within education that we can find solutions to our problems.

We, the Socialist Party of America, support the efforts of president Obama to make our streets safer and our hard working men and women to be paid more. We therefore offer our support to his proposed bills, but regret that the increase of the minimum wage is so small. We also believe that the rights of workers to organise into unions are poorly protected and we call on all our working people to join our peaceful protests which will be organised by the members of our party in America's towns and cities.

I'll take the Blue Dogs.

Woo. Approved.

Anyway, the gun control bill addresses the right to bear arms statistic. Just note the severity of the law, and how it affects the statistic will be decided by myself.

Figgon, you're also approved.

Since I'm busy and, we've finallyfound someone to play the bluedogs, the update will come tomorrow. Everyone who has not submitted events by then, please do so.

Also, if someone would set up an IRC, that would be helpful.
