Soldiers were hurrying in and out of the mansion. Carrying varied foods in and furniture out. The mansion wasn't small, but Sullivan still needed every space he could get. Over six hundred men of the military personal of Luna were invited for memorial day. Officers from the Colonial Militias, the Marines and even the Navy were expected to appear at the feast. And at the moment the mansion looked like it was plundered by Pirates. A stool dropped in the entrance, some carpets rolled over but not yet taken away. Sullivan wasn't so sure any-more if this was a good idea.
He tried to ignore the chaos which was unfolding in front of him and stepped out into the court yard. There he looked down on the rest of the military camp. The less fancy barracks, housing hundreds of his soldiers. Most were off duty, there was no pirate threat, which wasn't a surprise thanks to the navy and the close proximity of earth it was certain suicide for them to attack on Luna. And the risk for some revolt was negligible. The citizens of Luna were mostly loyal to the NAU and even if not the Colonial Militias would handle them on their own. Still Sullivan took care that a certain discipline was uphold even without any obvious threat. He didn't come this far to risk everything just because his soldiers liked to play cards all day long. It was anyway a long shot, but he felt it was his duty towards himself and his fellow citizens, so he had no real choice in not pursuing his endeavour. With this thought in his mind he resumed to personally the preparations of the festivities.

YEAR 2350

Mars

The newly appointed governor yuri begin financing a series of psychological and behavioral experiments, all look harmless and for the advance of the understanding of the brain, yet in the bars drunk scientist whispers of darker things. (⅓ project revenge)

The bureaucrats trying to gain the favor of the new governor began carrying what was called a corruption purge of the government, however it turn to be harder than it looks to root out corruption, hundreds if not thousands were fired or arrested and the bureaucracy and paperwork of the state grind to a halt in the purge, plumbing down the popularity of the new governor if not giving him a tighter grip on the state. (-15% popularity, +1 stability)

Heinrich Adolf Schwarzfeld increase the security of the Dues-Ex-Machina research station by bringing prisoners with loyalty chips (they explode if and give electric discharges) bringing close to one hundred men to protect it.

Admiral Hawke, using some though negotiation, influences and convincing of the high command push through two very important events over the year 2350, one is requisitioning some more Marine forces, with the government heavily investing in his second project, the only solution presented is move some marines from the farther colonies to mars. His second project is the beginnings in secret over the moons of mars, but such a big project can't be keep secret in such a heavily trafficked area so easily, coming out at the end of the year a second dreadnought has been build by the EFE, at that speed to be finished in around a year or two, which started a series of panicking message across the other nations of men.

Luna

In the luna, fundings are allocated to improvement and development of better engines for the fleet of the colony. (+½ engine level)

Two new destroyers are commissioned for the defense force of the the luna (+2 destroyers)

The party in honor of all the union soldiers fallen in battle hosted by Carl Sullivan becomes the top event of the year in the Luna zone to assist, everyone who is who is there, including the majority of the officers corps of the navy, marine and militias of the colony.

A full analysis of the forces in luna, weaknesses things to improve and ability is compiled by the Major general for a better defense in the future in case of an attack.

Outer Heaven

New mines and bases are build closer and closer to Ceres, sometime with infringement over asteroids supposedly claimed by the Caliphate colony in Ceres. This bring greater revenue to the colony and increase the popularity of the administrator greatly as much work opens up for the population. (increased mining income)

Another popular move is done by the administration as a new industrial quarter is open up, with new factories for local production begin hiring and pumping out low tech products for the colony at cheaper prices, a move highly beneficial if beginning to raise eyebrows back home. (higher industrial score, +10% popularity)

Ganymede

In ganymede the new administrator begin de a new weaponry based on plasma and new applications for it, uses for weaponry are promising. (½ +1 level weaponry)

Controversial development starts in the Ganymede colony as improved AI is being developed based of copying brain patterns of animals, and some hope humans in near future. The research closely come close in the development of true AI little by little (¼ True AI development)

San Borodino

Unmanned probes are send deep into Europa looking for life, Some probes go missing but the ones that come bring promise of underwater life with some bacterias, detected as well traces of higher life forms.

Several Cargo ships are hit during their flight from earth and the monsoon is discovered some very brave pirates are attacking the area, after destroying one of their ships they move away and begin raiding unprotected ships between mars and the moon for the discontent of many that claim for action against this: Church of Atom gang

The Colonization of Ganymede

Ganymede is rather uneventful chapter in the story of it's colonization of the solar system. During the initial wave of expansion into the outer planets, the then United States established a series of privately funded mining platforms and research stations in orbit of Jupiter. As time progressed and the other colonial powers continued there expansion, the desire for a more solid base of operation in the outer regions was evident. Initial plans called for the establishment of a permanent settlement on Castillo, as missions to Europa were already well underway. This however was met with a sever international response, especially from the Latin nations who had invested large amount of resources into the region. Eventually an agreement was organized by the UN that saw their US instead taking Ganymede. While both sides agreed, it was very unpopular, the first in a series of ineffective judgments leading up to the First Colonial War.

At first the moon was used as a transport hub, a place for ships to stop and resupply in transit to Eris and other US, and later NAU, possessions in the outer belt. While NAU mining operations over Jupiter were present, they did not generate a significant amount of income, primarily due to lack of manpower. This issue was, however, solved after the NAU-Mexican war. With the conquest of Mexico of the NAU, a large number Mexican citizens choose to leave the before the full effects of the resulting occupation could be felt.

While most to head south to lands of the newly formed Latin Federation, others instead choose to leave the planet altogether, and moved to the colonies. Corporations of the NAU capitalized on this offering to pay for their travel in exchange for spending an amount of time as indentured servants. This lead to a significant influx of colonists to the NAU territories including Ganymede.

At this time control of the moon lied with the company Stearic Solutions. However a scandal in the wake of alleged act of corporate espionage saw the company enter bankruptcy and all their assets in space being sold to Nanotrasen (who were suspiciously well prepared for the event) including operating rights over Jupiter.

Ducan sat in a grand sitting room as he was ordered. Then one of the golden doors opened and Yuri walked in. Ducan stood up and bowed. With him came some people who had a weird look in their eyes. Ducan looked at them, tried to get eye contact with them, but they just stared into the room like a shy kid, just without the emotions.

"Ducan, this are the results of the tests and I am already in the idea-phase of going towards mind control on a grander scale."

"They don't look like they are capaple of doing anything properly or do anything independtly. That would be a problem if troops were mind controlled don't you think?"

"Well, yes it would. But these are just the first steps, but soon Ducan." His eyes shined with power.

"But what is the next step Yuri?" Ducan asked.

"I have been thinking and maybe the poor parts of the my city will get to try the mindcontrol. I still have to figure out how though."

"Sounds intriuging and dangerous if they find out you know."

"They won't Ducan," Yuri began, "as they can't prove anything if they are controlled. Besides, it is only test we perform. They get their thoughts back afterwards. Now I want you to go down into the lab and perform some test with me. Come."

Lunar Weekly!
Thorne declares 'War on Piracy!'

latest

(Lunar fleets are dispatched to patrol region)

This week, the Directorate Office of the Lunar Special Administration Zone has gone public about its anti-piracy campaign. Director Thorne stated, quote, "This operation has already been approved of and backed by the international community." This has all begun after awareness of the threat posed by pirates raised when ships were indiscriminately attacked and their crews massacred by so-called 'Church of Atom.'

European Federated Union forces are said to be planning on participating in joint-operations as early as 2351. Regardless of whether or not the operations succeed in dispersing piracy from the inner planets, Thorne believes that it is an international success in that European and American forces have laid aside past differences to join together and put an end to the murders and criminal activity plaguing the system.

Currently, Martian and Lunar fleets are being dispatched to patrol the inner system for pirate-activity, Director Thorne has stated that Lunar Citizens should fear potential attacks on Lunar vessels and possibly terroristic attacks across the colony itself as early reports of activity from the 'Church of Atom' are coming in. Remember, if you see any suspicious activity or witness any out of place characters, call the Lunar Department of Civil Services and Defense, you might be saving lives.
