the Vale mourns the loss of lord Ned Stark, he was a noble, if misguided man; it was clear that my sister loved the man to whom her marriage was arranged and he was a close freind of my husband in his youth. yet to send thousands of the people to their deaths to avenge him is not the way to correct this injustice.

Reasons for the Vale to intervene are plentiful. You express your love towards your kinsmen of House Tully, but do you know what the monster Joffrey would force upon them, should he not be defeated? The Vale itself would suffer, as he no doubt sees your neutrality as treason all the same. Even if the Vale was spared, how quickly will the realm be tossed into more chaos and heartache, with an inept, cruel, and arrogant King such as Joffrey? Imagine how your husband, the late Jon Arryn, would act in this situation. Defiance is my guess, against the Lannister tyrants. End future suffering, today.

I have yet to see any evidence of jofferys ineptitude, he was under a regency when ned stark's execution was ordered, a regency that lingers still. he is not king Areies (i know thats misspelled) no matter how much you want him to be.
you have no right to speak of what my husband would do when you scarecly knew the man, Jon would have done what is best for his son and people, and that is to remain neutral.
you speak of concern for the tullys when they are in no danger, the tully host alone is more then suffienct to hold the trident even if all the stark host went north.
and despite your impassioned debate you still give no reason why renly is the rightful king, we are not the reach that would place his daughter on the throne, there would be no justification for my support.

Stan is has clearly been led into madness by his red priestess. Rather than fight his actual enemies, he lashes out at a city that never offended him. But if he thinks that he has conquered the North for his fire god, he is foolish as well.

It is surprising to see Lord Stannis in the North. Did his brother Renly scare him so much that he did not dare put up a fight? Raiding White Harbour will only quicken his demise, and we will enjoy watching Lord Karstark lead this army to crush the usurper.

It shows that even the Ironmen, among the greatest sailors in Westeros, cannot stand against the might of the King's Forces. I am proud of Ser Stafford, who won us a great number of ships while at the same time using the honour that is natural and expected to a knight of House Lannister. Battle of White Harbour
The forces of Stannis Baratheon invaded White Harbour early in the morning in the year 299AL. The 50 ships loyal to Stannis crossed silently closer to the Harbour, ready to overwhelm the forces of House Manderly their Liege the King of the North. However when the Red Priestesses start to cast their fires into the Harbour, 20 ships under Daven Snow of House Stark appeared behind them, returning to their port of call only to find it under attack. The constriction of the harbour hindered the greater numbers of the forces of Stannis Baratheon and the ships used their rams to greatest effect.
As the ships of House Stark crashed into the sides and backs of the Baratheon ships, those ships were upturned onto their fellow's ships. The suddenness of the assault (due solely to the quick thinking of Commander Snow), caused havoc and ruin in the attacker's ranks. Only the destructive magic of the Red Priestesses could hold back the tide, and Snow pulled back his forces to return to a safeer port of harbour after he had lost half of his forces.
The landings were of much greater success. The forces of House Manderly, holding the garrison, immediately broke under the wake of fire and steel. The garrison, and much of the Manderly House, retreated towards Moat Cailin, there seat now fallen. It is said that Wylis Manderly cursed Stannis to live in everliving torment as he walked towards the Moat carrying his young daughter Wylla and watching the smoke rise from the Sept of Snow.
Much has changed, his fleet decimated but now in full control of White Harbour and the surrounding areas, Stannis needed to decide what to do next. So did the King of the North, as he had lost his greatest port and found a quick-witted commander in Daven Snow.

I, Melisandre, under the guidance of the Lord of Light, declare White Harbor free of the darkness and the shackles of the Night. No more shall the Great Other consume the man, woman and child of the North, no more shall the souls of the innocent be crushed by the snows of the old ways. The Lord Manderly would do well to heed this example. The benevolent King Stannis will accept them into the warmth of R'hllor's care. Those that have fled this are misguided, but not unforgiven. Join the Lord of Light and choose the light over darkness. Do not fear what cannot be understood, but simply accept the truth of R'hllor. Only by destroying the heathen temple of White Harbour can the North truly begin it's liberation.

For his valor and quick thinking, I hereby name Daven Snow Master of Ships of the North. He will also be considered legitimized, and entitled to use his parents surname ((whatever that might be)) if he wishes. He is ordered to put his remaining ships into port at Oldcastle.
Ser Wylis Manderley is to remain at Moat Cailian until reinforcements arrive. Other Lords and Castellans on the Eastern coast, and along the White Knife and other rivers, are advised to keep a vigilant watch and make sure they are well provisioned. Lord Rickard Karstark will command a detatchment of troops from the front to reinforce the new levies. The other northern lords should muster what reserves they have and proceed according to the instructions they will recieve shortly. The mountain clans are called upon to gather their warriors as well.

to the end of preventing stannis from attaining the iron throne the vale names Lord Gerold Grafton of gulltown as the master of ships of the vale and high admiral of its fleet
