Still don't understand why the Vertibirds didn't just pulverize everything, since they're like super combat helicopters, equipped with mini nuke launchers and a wide array of other weapons.

EDIT: Apparently NCR had also Nightkin, who for some reason was not detected by the Enclave Cyberdogs (Enclave is the only faction other than Big MT to have these wonders), and Cyberdogs got the special ability to 'see' through stealth fields (I assume it's more about hearing and smell).

So NCR got mega-super-insane-soldiers, who are more than capable of matching the Enclave one on one? Because Mariposa is an underground facility, with very narrow passages, one of those locations where numbers mean little, while troop quality mean everything. And I'd think the Enclave with their superior tech, superior armors and superior weapons would have the advantage in a one-on-one fight. I mean sure, the NCR could win, but fighting in such locations they would and should have taken at least 4 or 5 times as many casualties.

There's not really any easy way to simulate that kind of combat in a forum game, unless you add tons of modifiers that just make things overly confusing. In any case, the NCR sent 1,250 troops out, which would beat just about anything smaller in number.

Does Mariposa have cyberdogs in F2? I don't even remember.

The game seems fun. But it also seems to have the usual pro-NCR bias (that was very mildly present in nacho's game, and much more in the next one). Anyway, I enjoy reading it, have fun.

There's no "pro-NCR bias." The NCR is just taking an expansionist route.

In any case I mostly agree with the criticisms presented. I think its problems stem both from the fact that we don't have enough players for a complex game and that it's not complex enough to begin with. Writing text games based on video games seems to have this problem since you tend to conform with whatever happened in-game, unlike a historical sim where more complexities exist. The game's probably not going to go on for too much longer, both because things don't seem to be going well and I'm going to be too occupied for the rest of the winter to continue running it.

Does Mariposa have cyberdogs in F2? I don't even remember.

Of course not, since Enclave is not in Mariposa in 2242, they were there secretly back in 2236-37, when they got the FEV and then got the hell out of the place, because their slave workers were mutating like crazy. Instead Mariposa is home to a bunch of second generation Super Mutants, lead by Melchior.

The actual Enclave places (Navarro and the Oil Rig) both got Cyberdogs, for instance it is in Navarro you pick up the companion K-9.

We reinforced Mariposa, and that would entail a full complement of our forces including vertibirds and recon (cyberdogs)

Gecko citizens are pleased to have a strong force defending them, but are wary of the presence of an organization known to exhibit anti-ghoul stances. Brotherhood members also have mixed opinions; they welcome a new base of operations, but question Maxson's decision to both publicize the organization and work with non-humans at the same time.

The BoS had a hostile history with SuperMutants because of the Master's war, but I don't recall them being anti-ghoul.

Still don't understand why the Vertibirds didn't just pulverize everything, since they're like super combat helicopters, equipped with mini nuke launchers and a wide array of other weapons.

In F2 Vertibirds were strictly air-transport craft, making them flying tanks was purely a F3 contrivance.

This game is dead guys, sorry. I have way less time this semester than I thought I would to compile turns, respond to questions, etc. So unless someone wants to take it over I don't think it'll be continuing.

With this game being officially dead, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a Fallout RP/Nation sim set between F1 and F2. I figure the NCR would be new-minted and starting it's first wave of expansion, not yet a colossus. Vault City is newly-surfaced. The Enclave is still a tiny and remote unknown.

Or we could go elsewhere, say the South, where Fallout has never tread. Could allow for some cooperative writing as we invent a unique history. Or something.

Is there a general consensus that the west should be avoided? Or is that a minority view?

If not California, and not DC, Where would people like to see?

The West has been very popular, and I agree, I think the next game should be set elsewhere. Perhaps Texas or Kansas or some such. With maybe 1 or 2 major factions and some minor factions (and often these minor factions will be within one of the major factions.) In many ways this would be quite similar to baboush' game, though maybe that game had too many independent factions. Having a handful of people within a faction does make for much more interaction between players, though it would be important that the President/Leader of Party 1 would never cooperate with Opposition leader/Leader of Party 2, except in the most extreme cases (Enclave has invaded, and their gigantic army is just outside the city gates).
