I suggest that Foxtrot and Charlie both put a company in reserve, while Echo goes to Mobile defense.
The two companies in reserve drop on Delta to bolster the attack there.

As far as support, put all the birds on Air Superiority, and throw the armor into the Delta attack.

Just my two cents.

Pulling out another two companies will leave those Sectors very lightly defended. I do not want to repeat what happened in Sector A.

Foxtrot hasn't seen combat in so long that even the Donut Dollies hang out there.
Now while I am sure that everyone enjoys a vacation, I don't think that lounge chairs qualify as part of a Marine's LBE.

Besides, you have four units there. Striping one out hardly qualifies as 'lightly defended'.

Remove one from F but not from C also. E should go to static defence otherwise the likelihood of an alien attack taking the airport is too Damm high.

Ground Situation:

Alpha - An enemy attack was stopped with light casualties.

Bravo - The enemy assault could overcome the resistance of the defending 1st / 7th and gained significant ground.

Charlie - As in Bravo, the defending units of the 1st Regiment could not hold the ground, but lost less territory to the enemy.

Delta - Both sides tried to gain ground in the sector with heavy fighting along the frontline, but neither side could gain an advantage.

Echo - The enemy tried to regain the recently lost ground, but despite air and ground support the enemy advance was stopped with heavy casualties on both sides.

Foxtrot - No hostilities

1st Division suffered 85 casualties, thereof 25 dead, and received 61 replacements. The enemy had probably equal casualties. Intel reports, that it lost contact to radio traffic of one enemy reserve unit. It is believed, that it was disbanded to reinforce other units.

Air Situation:

Air Combat was even recently, so the Superiority rating remains at 1.

Support Troops:

Tank Battalion and all Air Wings report ready for duty. 1st Recon Battalion will be available again at 08:30 AM, 2nd Recon already at 08:00 AM.

Hey Division Commander Leader Man!

Could some of my guys swap out with those civilians on vacation in Sector F?

My troops have been in the thick of the fighting, and they could use a rest.
Much like the garritroopers in Sector F have been having for awhile now.

If you are going to continue to overstaff a holiday sector, at least let the
troops there be ones that have been earning their living.

Just sayin.

We could have the units in sector F advance for a turn or two. I guess the enemy won't be expecting that. ;)

Ground Situation:

Alpha - The defending units could not repel the enemy advance and had to retreat.

Bravo - An enemy attack was stopped with only light casualties. During this situation, the group under Sergeant George Kelly from C-Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Regiment performed a flanking maneuver to put pressure on the enemy troops. During this action, Sergeant Kelly personally killed three enemies and wounded another two with a successful attack on an entrenched enemy position. When retreating to the own lines again, Sergeant Kelly found two wounded members of another group, rescued one himself despite still being under enemy fire and ordered a MedEvac for the second soldier. For conspicuous gallantry at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty Battalion CO recommended Sergeant Kelly for the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Charlie - Despite a heavy assault of the enemy, the frontline could be held.

Delta - Elements from all three Regiments were in position to start a major offensive in the sector, when an enemy counterattack surprised the still moving units. The commanders could not restore order fast enough and some territory had to be given up again.

Echo - An enemy attack was stopped with heavy casualties on both sides.

Foxtrot - 1st Regiment opened hostilities in the sector and could regain lost ground in the eastern part of the sector.

1st Division suffered 100 casualties, thereof 30 dead, and received 60 replacements. The enemy had probably higher casualties.

Air Situation:

The enemy had the upper hand in the recent Air Combat, but the Superiority rating remains 1.

Support Troops:

Tank and 1st Recon Battalion as well as 2nd Air Squad report ready for duty. 2nd Recon Battalion and 1st and 3rd Air Squads will be available again at 08:30 AM.

Two suggestions.

1. Each commander should swap his weakest unit with one of his reserve units.
If you don't have one to swap, you might give a consideration to creating a reserve.

2. Limit attacking sector to one per turn. Don't attack in the same sector more than two turns in a row.

I would suggest to stop attacking in D for at least one turn and instead see if there are other opportunities. The Aliens seem to have drawn down A to 2 companies as well and a reserve company there could actually make a difference.

I kinda like that idea.

An attack in sector A would most likely give us 3:2 odds in our favor.

What say you, imperious Division Commander?

Major General Thandros was still tired. He had slept maybe an hour or two the last night and now he realized that he was not 20 anymore. Or 30. Well, maybe later this day, when it becomes more calm and...

"Sir?"
"Yes."
"3rd Battalion / 7th Regiment on the phone, Sir."
"Okay."

3rd / 7th. Sector E. These men all deserved a medal. For hours now it went back and forth and so far the enemy did not meet his objectives. Recently they had even been pushed back.

"Colonel?", the General said.
"Here is Captain Neville, Sir."
"Captain? Where is the CO?"
"Sir, to be frank that`s me at the moment."
"Report, Captain!"
"Yes, Sir. The Battalion HQ was hit by an enemy airstrike. The CO is wounded and currently at the hospital. The enemy has renewed his attack in the sector and we cannot stop him. We have to retreat. The territory north and west of the Airport is lost. High casualties."
"Confirmed, Captain. Out."

`Dammit`, the General thought. He looked over to his S3.
"Foxtrot?"

The Officer looked into his eye and made a face before shaking his head.

Ground Situation:

Alpha - The USMC sent reinforcements to the sector and could make minor gains during the following attack on the enemy positions.

Bravo - An enemy attack was repulsed with only minor casualties.

Charlie - The enemy started another attack. Although it looked like the defending units would have to retreat at first, the frontline could be held.

Delta - An enemy attack was repulsed with only light casualties.

Echo - With a massive attack in the northern part of the sector the defending units of the 7th Regiment were pushed back with severe casualties. The frontline is now at the edge of the Airport again.

Foxtrot - Both sides fought fiercely, but despite the best efforts neither side could make any gains.

1st Division suffered 118 casualties, thereof 36 dead, and received 66 replacements. The enemy had probably lower casualties.

Air Situation:

The recent air combat was rather even, so the Superiority rating remains 1.

Support Troops:

All Support Units are reporting for duty except Tank Battalion, which will be available again at 09:30 AM.

From the RNG?

Anyway, I am thinking of pulling a company out of D to feed into the meatgrinder in E.

Where the heck did the 'massive' attack come from?

Possibly it was an in sector reallocation of forces to launch a massive localized counter attack in the northern areas of the sector. Or more likely the Aliens just rolled damm lucky. I think we need to mass forces for a push back to defend the Airport.

Well, I have to write something, aye? :D

Don`t interpretate something into the updates. It is just text to let you know what happened. ;)
