Anton Drexler holds a speech in Berlin, February 24, 1919
"Hardworking men and women of Germany. I know that you are all waiting for a constitution for our Reich. But rather than focus on creating a constitution, certain politicians are far more concerned about whether or not das Reich should have a Kaiser or a President."
"The German Worker's Party not only was illegally attempted banished by the former Chancellor and all assets seized, and yet, people of Germany, we had a proposal for a constitution only days after the injustice had been corrected. And it was ignored, all because certain members of the government were so concerned about our former Kaizer. They were more concerned about a coward who abdicated and ran off when das Reich had to fight the hardest. Concerned about the nobility and all of their fancy titles."
"Sadly it is true, brothers and sisters. Their concerns were not for the hard working men and women who are the engines of our proud nation. Who works hard to keep our nation rich, to keep our nation strong. They are not concerned about our brothers, sons and fathers fight in the army, in our navy or the pioneers who fight in the skies."
"Maybe now that the issue has been settled, and the people has shown that they clearly favor a republic, that they favor democracy and freedom, we can have the constitution that you are all waiting for. And I promise you all, that when we negotiate, I shall fight for our working class and I shall fight for our soldiers!"
