Hello and welcome to Chariots of War. This time I decided to try something very different. The year is 1348 BCE, and players take the reins of power in a Late Bronze Age Middle Eastern power. The nascent Hittites are massing their troops against the weakened Mitanni, the Egyptian Pharaoh is busy building a new religion and in Mesopotamia new powers aim for hegemony. Whose chariots will triumph on the fields of Syria?

So what am I even supposed to do?

This game will be more like the Civilization Games ran by Stormbringer and Noco19, instead of a traditional ‘nation game’. Updates will cover a longer period of time, and generally focus on broader developments. The main goal of the game isn't simply to build roads or to figure out the most efficient method of taxation, but to use diplomacy, scheming and violence to make your power stronger and wealthier. Ultimately it comes down to having fun and shaping your nascent civilizations to your liking. RPing and ICing as your ruler or such any other character aligned with your country or faction is greatly encouraged, and will be rewarded in one way or another. It is in fact a requirement to provide at least one such post at least every other turn.

But what about the stats?

Stats exist only to give the player a general idea about the current state of various powers. They have little to no actual effect. Orders, diplomacy and updates are what matters. This is simply because there’s absolutely no way of compiling an accurate set of stats due to the challenges posed by the setting. 12,532 soldiers of tech level 1347 BCE or economic growth of 1,5 % more wheat a decade wouldn’t be adding anything of note to the game.

So, how about my orders?

Each power sends me two normal orders a turn. Non-ruling factions and vice-royalties receive one order each turn, though these are likely to be more successful, especially for factions. Powers might lose their second order if they become too subjugated to a major power. If a war, uprising, succession crisis or such happens, players send a separate war plan. Keep orders short and clear, please, and don’t try to build sophisticated iron-cast steam-powered siege engines, Byzantine fire or to restore Rome. Don't expect huge administrative and social changes or scientific breakthroughs to happen in a turn or two, or even within the next decades. However, as the game progresses and we deviate from history, players can direct events and developments with an increasing freedom. More orders might be requested for unique mini updates. These often deal about war or other such crisis.

Rule change as of 14/5/17, there are a total of three orders, including ones for both war and peace. Multiple orders can be combined into one for a larger effect and higher chance of success.

How do I sign up?

Pick several factions and/or countries and request them below. Try to have both lesser and stronger powers. I will assign them in a few days.
