Saladin was sitting in his tent after a hard day's march. The Emir's tent was small as he insisted that a large one would only slow the army down. He was reading the reports sent from the Mayor of Mutikabir who was assisting his wife who was serving as Regent. The first one was about some small trouble with some dwarves in the harbor district. The second one about a slight increase in grain production in a town just north of the city. Finally he reached the last one and began reading.

"My Lord, we began allowing the Desert Tribesmen who fled south to decide whether they would remain and as you ordered we counted those that did as they entered the gate. The final count read 97,673 which mean that the total population of Mutikabir has reached 200,000 people! A further 50,000 people have decided to settle in the rural areas which has allowed us to increase grain production. I would however like to ask Your Highness what he wishes to do with the people who have settled in the city? There are many options for what we could do with them as many of the old buildings remain open."

Thinking Saladin finally decided what he would do. Having ordered Nur ad-Din to try and sign a trade agreement with the Dwarves for metals the trade agreement would need more people and boats to ship grain up, and metal down, the Amenra. Therefore he would order the river harbor in Mutikabir restored and expanded. He quickly set pen to paper and began writing his response to the Mayor's letter.

Hero's Gate, Azerati City

The ringing of trumpets heralded the march of the Mercenary Army. The Merc Captain commanded from the rear rank as his sellswords charged toward Hero's Gate, the wall fortress that commanded the fortified defensive position for the main gate of the city. Despite a series of sorties of heavy horse, and heavy casualties for the invaders, the Azerati army failed to dissuade the mercenaries from encroaching toward the walls of the city. Watching from the wall, was Count Asharian, surrounded by his retinue of Swornswords. Grim faced and stoic, the count said few words as the ranks of the enemy charged toward his home, "Let them come!"

Arrows, hot oil and rocks welcomed the intruders as they brought up a large battering ram, slamming it again and again into the mighty door. The towers and parapets of the gate-fortress were ablaze with fire arrows as they shot down upon the mercenaries, igniting the hot oil and sending screams of the dying up into the cold winter air.

The captain refused to give up so easily, and fired a devastating volley of boulders from trebuchets. The main tower of the fortress collapsed and the great door gave with a great crack and splinters of wood and iron. Azerati had been breached.

The work for the invaders was not done yet, however, for waiting beyond the door was a troop of Krestarii infantry and Chief Ra'Gru himself, along with his order Swornswords, the Sharmen. Ra'Gru fought valiantly, and sang a terrifying battlesong in true Orc fasion as his Orcs died all around him. The fight from the mercenaries was fierce, and Ra'Gru wished for a troop of his own Orc warriors even as a blade plunged through his belly. Carrying their chief from danger, Sharmen warriors covered the retreat and sealed the invaders in the outer courtyard.

Count Asharian walked among the dead and dying in a triage set up in the market square. "Help must come soon... It must!"

“That hurt” Ra'Gru said.
“Don’t worry my Lord” Aesar said.
“If the damn lord had just let me bring my army I could have defended this Aesar” Ra'Gru said.
“Nothing to do about that now” Aesar said.

“Doctor how bad is it?” Ra'Gru asked.
“Just a flesh wound my Lord” The doctor said.
“It will hurt a bit but nothing dangerous” The doctor said.
“You will be alright, it missed anything important” The doctor said.
“You will be able to partake in the next part of the battle” The doctor said.

History of the Emirate of Herasnia.
From the Herasnian Chronicles, by Javid Kurim, Scholar of the Temple of Mubin
Herasnia, in the fertile grounds between the Hroniden Desert and the Plains of Ecclestus, was founded during the Age of Heroes by the hero Firuz "the Defender" Potani. A fortress was erected as a defensive position at the location which is now the modern capital, Almeria. The legends have stated that, in what could be called an act of the Creator, Firuz fought with only 1000 men while the minons of the Dark One had an army of 30,000 men but didn't lose a single man. These 1000 men are now legends known as the Immortals. After the war against the Dark One, the Potani ruled the lands of Herasnia for many generations until the usurping of the titles by the Emperor. When the Emperor took away the titles, the Potani didn't cooperate with the Emperors but worked against them instead. With the recent disbanding of the Empire, the Potani came back to their lands once more and established control over their rightful domain. Now, the Potani have a chance to rebuild from the ruins of the Emperor.

Kalare City-State history

Kalare City was found by Kalerus Kalare during the age of heroes mage. Kalerus Kalare was one of the most powerful Fire users (magic) in the continent and some say its own power made him a little mad ( he did have an affiliation for boiling alive criminals and enemies)
Kalerus was the head of a village located in Mount Kalare But one day for reason not known decided that the place wasn’t suitable to live anymore and began a migration with his whole village to the current location of Kalare.

After arriving to the area he announce that clan Kalare would soon be the most powerful and important city in the region and decided to expel the Nords living in the area and enslave the elves ( from the beginning Kalare city has had slaves) with the slave labor provided by the elves and hard work of his clan mates an imposing fortress was build relative quick.*
The elves from mirrorwater soon came to liberate their brethren from slavery under Kalare but were easily defeated as they crossed the river not knowing a fortress had recently *being *build near the river making them easy pick for archers and reducing their landing areas. After defeat on the shore line of the river Rill Kalerus allowed the elves army to retreat without following them ( an amazing sign pf piety or so was thought at the time).

The elf retreated to the impressive and beautiful *city : Rivendell ( located in a similar position in the other side of the river) , This city was known to be one of the most beautiful in existence at thetime in the whole continent . Sensing that the magic was going away from the world and that soon he too will lose his powers Kalerus decided that he had to use them to max effect before that happened. *Using the excuse on the attack of the elves on the Kalare Fortress a punitive attack was launch on Rivendell, moving fast and before the elves could call for others to help them the city was put under siege. As the kalare clan members weren't many and the elves were Kalerus decided what started the nickname: The burner. After calling for the surrender of the city and handing down their leaders and a princess as a punishment ( of course rejected, but that was the objective) Kalerus Announced that him alone will destroy the city for they refusal to surrender ( of course the elves laugh , no way this man could do it plus the city has magic protection too). Summoning his magic at full strength Kalerus launched a continuous torrent of fire against the city *for hours until the sages and the magical defenses could no longer resist, The city burned quicker than any of the man outside it could believe, an not a single survivor was left…..dozens upon dozens of thousand perished with their city leaving nothing but charcoal were one of the great cities of the world existed.*

After this in a sequential *and quick strikes all the nearby major port cities, *and trading hubs were attacked and sacked by Kalerus the burner and his forces bringing riches to Kalare fortress that in less than a year had become the biggest ( if only) important port in the area making thousands of refugees moving there and controlling the flow of the trade by the river and slave trade of elves from the other side of the Rill ( this had become profitable with everyone fearing Kalare) of course knowing the magic was going to be soon gone he embarked in a construction oh a true Citadel impossible hard to conquer. After his dead The net leaders didn't find that easier to capture elves in mass from Galadriel but Never released from bounding the ones the thousands already in the city creating a self-sustaining *elves slave pop in the city helped from new slaves *brought by the private and independent slaver.

Today Kalere city continues to be the Most important port city in Norseland and by far the biggest ( though it doesn't raid the other smaller ones anymore) the population of the city and its surrounding is estimated in 100 thousands resident ( not including the slaves that numerous on the dozens of thousands mainly elves) Much of the trade going to GC through the Rill river and to others port city like the slaver city Azeratii pass first on By Kalare *to resupply *on food, *weapons, goods and of course slaves.
The defenses of Kalare city are a gigantic wall that surround the main citadel (that has been expanded from ancient time to a huge defensive system) *Defensive towers in the port , and so narrow road to the main citadel of the city that to be able to break through the door thousand have to be sacrificed to the never ending arrows from the wall and turrets

Gilbert von Danzig strode up the stairs of Castle von Saxon. Tapestries lined the spiral tower as this was the realm of Wilhelm von Saxon. Wilhelm held much more artistic taste that his father who said that all tapestries are good for is when they run out of firewood. Gilbert grew up with Wilhelm and Jutarian as they were all about the same age, with Wilhelm being a year older than him. Gilbert's father was one of Gunther's old friends, thus he was able to live under Gunther's tutorship. He had had strange feelings for Wilhelm sense he was 13. He realized he loved him when he was 14. The year that he spent trying not to be awkward and to suppress his feelings were the worst of his life. When Gilbert was 15 he told Wilhelm, crying the whole time. Wilhelm had been silent and then when Gilbert looked up at him, Wilhelm had kissed him. It was the greatest moment of Gilbert's life.

Gilbert knocked on Wilhelm's door and opened it when he was given permission.

"You don't have to knock Gilbert. What would I possibly be doing that you couldn't see?" Wilhelm said looking up from his book.

"Now is that anyway to talk to your man when he is about to go on a dangerous quest?" Gilbert said leaning in and stroking Wilhelm's blond hair.

"Shut up. I know you are going on that damned quest. Why did Father volunteer you to go? Can't Leopold handle it on his own?" Wilhelm said while holding back tears.

Gilbert cupped Wilhelm's face in his hands and looked him in his eyes. "Don't be worried. I am coming back."

Wilhelm stood up and hugged Gilbert while whispering into his ear, "You better come back."

"You know I will. I would never leave you alone." Gilbert whispered to Wilhelm before tenderly kissing him. "See you soon, Wilhelm!"

With that Wilhelm went to the door and watched Gilbert run down the stairs. A few stray tears ran down his face before he closed the door and started to read again. "I need to go count coins or something."

Coal

dbf3c08906e787d77babd4d3fc6ad9bd.jpg

Coal is an ancient city, originally it was a small village at the base of the mountain whose name has been lost to time. The city did not become truly famous until Eöl Coamenel chose it as the site from which he would rule his Kingdom. Eöl had traveled around the entire continent in his first one hundred years, but the beauty of mountain rising out of the forest always stayed in his mind. When he united the elven lands under the Kingdom of Galadriel he chose the mountain that had stuck in his mind as the site for his capital, which he named Coal, a shortening of his own name. Using his powerful magic, Eöl created the Wellspring at the top of the mountain that flows even to this day. He then ordered the construction of his castle on the sight of the spring, and it could be seen for miles all around.

The castle was built in such a way that the flow of water could be controlled via a system of dams and openings under the castle, allowing for the defense of the citadel and irrigation of the lands below, as needed. Eöl also ordered he construction of the Temple of Light, later renamed the Temple of Light and Eöl in his honor. It was built at the base of the mountain so as to be closer to the Light.

Over the next millennium Coal developed into the hub of Galadriel. Just a few miles from the coast, a harbor was built shortly after the city was founded. Now it is the busiest port in all of Galadriel, exporting cash crops, potions, and elven wine by the boat load, as well as bringing in raw minerals for crafting. The Temple of Light and Eöl has expanded from little more than a monastery to the greatest cathedral to the Light in all the Empire. It is one of the most common sites for elves on pilgrimages to visit, and is currently run by Fëanáro Anárion. The city is truly a bastion of culture with a great library and amphitheater built into the mountain side.

The population of the city has steadily been increasing since its founding, ignoring minor drops or rises in population. While the city is not strictly divided into quarters based on class, a rough picture has occurred. The wealthy live in the houses closest to the top of the mountain, though mainly the aristocracy of the city, there are also several plantation, shipping, and fishing business owners who live near the top. The middle class, people such as captains, expert craftsmen, and priests, live at the center of the mountain. At the base live the lower classes, including farmers, blacksmith assistants, or dock workers. These quarters are not necessarily a division of the classes, as there are no formal districts, but simply the reality of living higher up the mountain being more expensive.

At the base of the mountain, in addition to the Temple of Light and Eöl is the Market of Coal. The Market of Coal is a bustling hub of activity, built along the road between the mountain and the port. This is where farmers sell their crops, craftsmen sell their crafts, and several other business deals occur. While some business owners prefer to have trade deals arranged in their mountainside villas, there is also a large building in the market that provides space for business to occur.

The city does not have a large wall, but the steep mountainside combined with the threat of water being redirected towards an invading army, prevent invasion. This threat is further mitigated by the fact that an invading army would either need to face the Coamenel Navy or march through forests that they do not know while being harassed by elves who have lived in the forest their entire lives. If the enemy can get to the city and have overcome the mountainside and redirected water, then they must breach the mountain top citadel to reach the castle.

The castle itself was built in the time of Eöl, making it one of the oldest structures in the city. The architecture of the castle focuses on being open to nature. Upon entering through the citadel, one would find themselves in an open air courtyard filled with trees and flowers, like a small forest on the top of the mountain. After that are the doors to the throne room, fifteen feet tall and half a foot thick, they are intimidating, yet beautiful. They are solid white with gold elven scripts dancing across them. Inside the throne room is a hall, stretching about 100 feet with elven tapestries on either side. Then there is a wide flight of steps up to the Throne of the Forest, a throne made out of a living tree, with the Wellspring flowing behind it.

I'm voting to condemn the invasion of Mirrorwater.Moves based on strenght are not good ones, and certainly not good for the cause of Light.I will only change my vote if the aggresor finds a better reason for his attack on Mirrorwater.
We offer 50 men and our new champion,,to go on this quest
We will send 2000 men to aid the battle against the Corotrii family! We wish we could do more.

The Assembly of Serpentine

With war breaking out across Agorath, and a Corpus outbreak in Hroniden, tensions within the Assembly were high. As if that wasn't bad enough, a Necromancer priest was able to project his etheral form into the hall of lords, confirming that the Dark Scourge was rising once again and also eluding to the power of the Dark growing in the world once again. The Scourge had not been seen in the west for 350 years, and talk among the Lords of Light suddenly revealed fears that the Prophecy of Maegi may ring true.

Though war was on everyone's tongue, the Corpus outbreak took center stage in the talks as it was feared all of Agorath was in danger if the outbreak was not contained. Count Gunther Von Saxon proposed that each province send 1000 troops to guard the borders of the Dune Sea and keep the outbreak contained. The proposal was meant with widespread agreement with some nations pledging more troops than others.

Meanwhile, many followed the example of the High Steward and ArchMage and condemned the actions of Arl Kvothe of Kalare and his assault upon the Elven province of Mirrorwater, despite an outpouring of support among the Nordic Arldoms. The Treaty of Burnt Bridge is clear, however, and the Golden City is powerless by law to interfere in the actions of House Kalare. It remains to be seen if any Lords of Light will come to the aid of Mirrorwater, or if their condemnations were empty talk.

Master Wonorm of House Urist led the charge in the Assembly against the Necromancer and his fortress in Highathar. Fel Jek, a Swornsword to House Urist vowed to bring an end to the evil doings of the Necromancer and his Dark priests. ArchMage Qylan gave his blessing and Champions of Light followed Fel Jek out of the Assembly to prepare for the long journey to Highathar.

Hear ye, people of the Light! Give prayers for the brave heroes who go to save us all from the threat of the Necromancer of Highathar. May the Creator bless them and give them victory!

With that, the Assembly of Serpentine was brought to a close, with an agreement to convene in the near future to discuss the issues facing the realm.

((Still to come.... Outcome of this session's diplomatic orders, quests and battles))

Battle of Azerati

As Serpentine faded away, the month of Snowsmelt came upon Agorath. Rains came down heavy upon the lands as the winter snows began to recede. In a field of grass, turned to mud by the trample of boot and heavy rains, the armies of the Lords of Light joined before the city to break the siege. Remarkably, the mercenary forces were undeterred by the enormous army, and manned the remaining towers of Hero's Gate and sealed the large doors in hopes of crushing the Assembly army under a wave of arrows before the walls. Meanwhile, within the inner city of Azeratii, Count Asharian and Chief Ra'Gru prepared to mount a Sortie and squeeze the mercenaries between the Azerati Guard and the Assembly army.

Count Gunther Von Saxon personally led an army of 4000 troops to the Hero's Gate, and was first to arrive to relieve the city. Setting up camp, the count of Saxony awaited reinforcements while his outriders tested the defenses of the sacked gate-fort.

The forces of House Urist were next to arrive, an army of 2000 troops eager for glory as the drums of the Dwarven army rang out in the ears of the mercenaries.

Next to arrive was the Elf Captain Tuor Sáralondë waving the banners of House Coamenel. Behind him marched 1300 troops.

7300 troops in all marched on the 3800 troops of the mercenary held Hero's Gate. Meanwhile, 4400 Azerati troops, enhanced by the tactical genius of Chief Ra'Gru, sallied forth from the Inner City to hit the mercs from both sides.

Several days of fighting, and a surprising defense from the mercenaries seen heavy casualties on the Assembly troops. Being so badly outnumbered and being hit on both fronts spelled certain doom for the mercenaries. As the last of the mercs surrendered, the captains and generals gathered around the dying mercenary captain, pierced with many arrows and blood oozing from a terrible wound in his chest, as he lay dying in the outer harbour.

"What is your name?" asked Ra'Gru, the martial nature of the orcs demanding respect for the valiant Captain.

Coughing up blood, the Captain looked up at the Orc-Nord. "Jacob.... just Jacob." The leaders said blessing for the dying captain, but the mercenary only laughed. "Save your blessings, for I need them not." Raising his hand, a brilliant light poured forth from his fingertips, seeming to take the shape of a winged woman before the light permeated through his body and just like that, his wound was sealed by the first sight of true Light magic in nearly one thousand years.

Ra'Gru stood in awe, he didnt know what to say. Aesar came with his horse and reminded him that they would soon be having a Necromancer in our city, as he mounted his horse he looked at the Captain and asked.

“Why would someone as holy as you attack the Krestarii family and Azeratii City, and even help a slaver?” asked Ra'Gru.

Jekk rose from the battlefield, seeing the holy magic of the mercenary captain and running to him.He then asked"How come you can use light magic? Can we be sure you are not one of the followers of the dark one pretending to be a light apostle? If you are of the Light essence, why attack the Krestarii like Ra'Gru just asked?"

Asad was surveying the troops for the quarantine when a camel messenger arrives.
Messenger: Your majesty, I have received news about the Battle of Azerati.
Asad: Azerati? I've already known the men were victorious already. What is it that requires my attention?
The messenger looks uncomfortable, looking away from him.
Asad: I'm not going to hurt you. Just tell me what you know.
Messenger: *gulps* The mercenary captain ... had healed himself using a spell not seen for a millennium.
Asad: Magic? *curses under his breath* This is not a good sign ... The return of magic also means the return of the Dark One. I fear our people are no longer safe. Relay the message that the Emir wishes to have the military ready for action, but don't tell them the reason why. It will possibly cause panic throughout the land.
The messenger nods, mounts his camel, and speeds away from the city.

Jacob scoffed at the bewilderment of the captains.

"Pah! You think me a holy man, I am not! I live for two things; gold and battle. I care not for the cause of Corotrii, nor do I care for the cause of your Assembly. Why is the Light with me? I do not know, I am no Mage. Perhaps my blood is mingled with the old heroes, maybe the Creator is playing a cruel jape. I care not. So do what you will with me, I care only for reforming my army and fighting again one day."

((The fate of Captain Jacob will be decided at the next Assembly))
