- You (and a lot of others in this thread) are assuming that this localization tag refers to the literal HRE as it existed in history and not simply pan-european nationalist propaganda using that name as an 'excuse' or 'legal basis' to form an entity with similar borders (but not necessarily similar institutions or government form).
- not holy-not empire-not roman is a worst pan-european nationalist propaganda that could existed in reality especially so in 20th century that is plagued by romantic nationalism going extreme, so no. I dont buy it, sorry. Its just an excuse for you to insert something completly fantasy and unrealistic that would appease certain crowd. German empire did not claimed to be HRE back than and here are even less chances that it would happen in post WW1 restored German monarchy.
Why would this involve reviving centuries-old feudal institutions? Not even to mention that this has happened repeatedly in history. The post-WW1 Poland came into existence, but it had no link to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth except (partly) in name, some territory, and the idea of a nation for Poles.
- sorry what? Are you like for real? Do you realize that you comparing NATION state with medieval entity that was nothing but a baloon full of hot air even few centuries prior?
When the Western Roman Empire fell, Byzantium claimed to be its successor. When that fell, the Russians and the Turks claimed to be its successor, despite the former not sharing any culture, instutions, or even territory with this empire, and the latter not sharing culture or religion. That did not stop their leaders from using these names as a 'link to the past'.
- sorry but what? You are really bringing medieval time justifications in talk about 20th century geo politics? Not to mention that russian claim was purely religious, they claimed to be spiritual successor to orthodox empire, while turkish one was based on geography and is traced way back up to freaking Seljuk times.
Not to mention that its rather apparent that you doesnt know anything about nature of Roman Empire division...
Byzantium claimed to be successor... WTH...
Chinese history has a lot of this as well, with different empires all claiming to be a continuation of the previous one, but in reality having little in common except for name.
- with exception of few foreign conquerors Chinese state history is identical to history of any other country in the world and surrounded mostly around geography and controlled population. Dynasties change, people remain.
- My point was that the person I quoted argued that annexing Austria was not plausible because they had already decided upon the Lesser Germany Solution. And yet, history shows us, it -did- happen. So quite honestly I think the argument of plausibility is already destroyed just by actual historical events.
- ya ya. I have an anecdote about plausibilities like those for you:
- What are the chances for you to meet Tyrannosaurus Rex on a street?
- 50/50. I will either meet him or not.
- Like all Paradox games, HoI IV is a sandbox game. Sandbox games, by definition, don't really have endings.
- just dont tell that to your CK2, EU4 and Stellaris teams. Not to mention countless other sandbox games that have open gameplay but similarly have defined early-mid-end game with clear endings. Not to mention that besides being sandbox HoI is also a WW2 historical game so the current lack of defined end is even more apparent and jarring.
- this answer just sums it all up. All in all this look simply like some sick joke, sorry.
