Hello,

We all like mods and we will never thank enough Paradox to make their games moddable.

But there are two things modders should have the ability to do :

Steam workshop : We see that there is a high number of people who don't know how to install corectly mods, or even find them (essentially not english speaker who avoid this forum)
A Steam Workshop would be a very interesting possibility to publish mods on steam (and update instantly)

Moddb : Not everyone has steam, maybe the majority, anyway we can't publish mods in mod db because CK2 isn't registred in it.

I'd be happy with one of these solution, and even more with both, what do you guy's think ?

Absolutely Tom, thanks for posting this. I've already contacted Paradox asking them if they can create a game profile for CK2 in ModDB. I even created one myself but I couldn't assign Paradox as the creators so the ModDB admin wouldn't upload it. Having a ModDB page for CK2:AGOT would REALLY help us out. As it is I'm having to take time out to create a blog for the mod.

I think Steam Workshop requires a game to be fully integrated into Steamworks, which no Paradox games are -- not do I think Paradox would ever consent to that.

So, in short, I doubt it will ever happen.

Know that, but they must have their word.

I think having a workshop game is probably good for sales (community gathering, and steam will make a formal news that everyone will see , etc ...)

Steam Workshop is not ideal for CK2, because some mod updates introduce incompatibility issues. There are good reasons not to want automatic updates(e.g. if I had automatic updates, I wouldn't be able to play the CK2+/Magnate Lord combo, because the latest versions are incompatible)
Registering the game at ModDB seems like a good idea though. I'm actually surprised that hasn't happened yet.

I've asked Paradox to add a CK2 game profile to ModDB, no reply. I added a game profile for CK2 myself, but I couldn't select Paradox as the creator so it wasn't published. The ModDB admin won't help me resolve this issue.

Yes I think Paradox wants to centralize every mods on their forums ... Silly because we will always keep a thread here

Perhaps you would, but others may not.

Paradox chooses to do what they can to keep their gaming community in one place, rather then spread out.

This is likely a business move to ensure they can keep an eye on all their customers and know what they do and do not like.

Although the idea itself has merit, it is not required for any reason to have a third party keep track of all the mods.
