I know that non-megacorps can kick megacorps out, and megacorps can steal each other's branch offices. But suppose you are a non-criminal megacorp, and you encounter an empire that is capable of hosting branch offices, they just don't want to. Is there any way of forcing capitalism upon them, Opium Wars-style?
The usual way of flipping someone to your team (when you don't want to annex or vassalize them) is an ideology war: it works great for most government types, as the newly 'liberated' government (whether it controls all or only some of the old empire's territory) has a huge opinion bonus on top of being a perfect match in terms of ethics. But ideology wars are a disaster for megacorps, because the result is to create another megacorp, which is not only unable to host branch offices, it will also start competing with you for branch offices elsewhere (and then having the same ideology is a bad thing, because they'll make similar friends). Is this intentional?
I know you can force other empires to be your subsidiary and ensure branch office access that way, but that's a much bigger commitment on the part of the megacorp: it generates a lot of threat, you need to maintain dominance, and you need to protect them in any war. It would be nice to have some option for simply making sure that you have branch office access without completely taking over.
