I am going for some Japan cheevos, and on my campaign, I made the horrible mistake of colonizing Taiwan. Obviously, Ming immediately claimed my in-progress colony and declared. I immediately abandoned the colony, but Ming still wanted to tear me a new one and give half of my country to Korea and release the rest (including some Siberian provinces I took for colonialism).

I have been running around with a 20 stack, defending from Ming's naval invasions without breaking a sweat. I have managed to bait their entire navy into a single stack who is transporting a 10 stack. However, since the stack is very small as soon as I send my army to intercept a province, it will stop moving and aim at a different province. I have repeated this process for about a year now and there have been no battles or encounters. So far, I have about 15 warscore from battles alone and since no one can get any ticking warscore anymore, the war has come to a stale mate.

I remember hearing from someone that after a certain period of no activity in a war the war would instantly end as a white peace(I'm thinking 10 or 25 years but it's been a while). Is this true? I don't really want to invade Ming as that would be tantamount to suicide, but I also do not want to keep engaging their armies since Korea rivaled me a few years back and has cores on some of my land.

Just let them land, you should be able to wipe them out with a 20k stack easy before they ship over more, even if you have to chase them a little. Its free warscore. Between that and waiting for the "Length of War" modifier to tick down you'll be able to peace out after a few years, no need to wait 10. Keeping it going for a little longer and nab the 10% of income as well, and you'll be rolling.

Only be worried about Korea invading if they've enough transports to be a threat. Usually the AI doesn't keep enough for a proper invasion, they rely on you not noticing landings.

I don't think this is strictly true. What happens is that among the reasons the AI has to stay/leave war is length of war. The longer the war drags out the more the AI wants to leave. This means it's easier to get a white peace (or even a peace where you take something) but it's not automatic. There is always a peace deal, with one side proposing and the other accepting

Ah OK. I knew about length of war modifier but I thought from what the guy told me there would be an automatic white peace. Guy who told me they auto-peace out must have been talking out his arse.

Yea I figured I would just have to do this but I wanted to see if I could just not fight them.

No combat will cause an auto-white peace, I think 25 years sounds reasonable. I'm not exactly sure though.

I don't know if fleet blockading counts too.. so any of their ships that pass by your land *might* reset the timer, I can't remember..

In my last Japan game the same thing happened, Ming declared for Taiwan when I started colonising it. I thought I was done for but I just kept wiping them when they land, got like 60% warscore without sieging anything. Took the Hainan Island and some other provinces connected to it. After the truce ended they declared a reconquest war, they got like a third of their army on the island so I trapped them there (the wargoal is not on the island), then it was pretty much free siege because most of the rest of their army was busy sieging my ally, Bengal. When they peaced out I already got a high warscore and I took more of their land, after that I didn’t have to worry about them any more. This was before 1.24 so it should be even easier now.
