There have been a number of threads reporting this feature doesn't work. I don't know how Paradox intended it to work, but I have a suggestion assuming this will be eventually fixed. Have forced disarmament empty the mobilization pool. This will reflect the confiscation of weapon stockpiles, reassignment of NCO's, and general interruption of the reserve system. The disarmed country could immediately begin building the pool up again, but if it had say a 100 division pool prior to being disarmed it will have to start from scratch. In this way you'd be able to see tangible results and not wonder whether the disarm option was a wasted action.

My idea was to have it remove all brigades from army units and ships. That would really represent the confiscation of heavy weapons and such.

A good OUCH is exactly what this feature should cause though. This would be similar to what the Allies did after WW1 where the largest, best army in europe was reduced to 100,000 men total with no havey weapons and no air force. OUCH indeed. I like the removal of brigades and the emptying of reserves but perhaps they should lose a certain amount of their standing army too. The standing German Army, even in peace time was FAR above 100,000 men. Not sure of the exact numbers but .... well it was more than 100,000 :D so maybe we should also find a way to limit the size of the standing army to a certain number of divisions and/or a certain number of men. Also the navy should be scrapped as well. Germany also lost all its dreadnaughts, cruisers, etc and were left with only enough for a barely adequate coastal defense. So I dunno ... just my two cents worth ;)

Pretty intriguing ideas, but wouldn't this make 50 war score quite a bargain? I mean, the treatment of Germany at Versailles is a good model, but perhaps a little extreme for a run-of-the-mill war, since it followed the war so bad they called it "great." (Although, if I had to pick the worst war to live through based solely on name and no historical knowledge, I'd go with the Hundred Years War).

Not a bad idea, but then there should be a way of attaching brigades to existing units, so it would be possible to reverse the effects of it.

I like the idea of emtying the reserve pool :D

It's straightforward, and should be easy to implement:
Code:
if (agreedToForcedDisarm) {
   mobilizationPool.setSize(0);
}

If you're able to demand disarmament I'd assume their standing army has already been blown to pieces. ;)
