I'm tired of Portugal and Spain maintaining immense colonial empires even if they've been completely obliterated in Europe and persist only as a bunch of African / Indian provinces. The colonies' liberty desire doesn't seem to work too well, they do declare independence wars but end up either swarmed by their co-colonies (who join their overlord's war) or just peace out at 24 warscore for no independence somehow.
Worse yet:
- we can't force a colony to be release in peace deal, unlike a vassal. Why? Especially if the colony has a liberty desire of a bazillion and absolutely hates their overlord. This needs to be possible.
- a colony with high liberty desire can't have it's independence supported due to absurd 'distance between borders' penalty nonsense. It should measure the distance to the overlord, not the colony. A continental France can support Castillian Mexico's independence just fine by completely demolishing Spain's armies and occupying it, yet the colony cites 'distance between borders' bullshit to prevent this and then loses its' independence war.
