I just reinstalled EU v1.10 and in the IGC I am playing as England. France, Scotland, Navara, Papal States, and Savoy declared war on me around 1497. It is now 1500 and I control all of Scotland and have the option to force annex them but all my offers of annexation are getting rejected. I won all the battles against them and destroyed their armies and I think they only have one ship left but everytime my offer of annexation keeps getting rejected. Does anybody know how I can annex Scotland while I am still at war with France, and the Papal States?

The thing is that as long as they are in the alliance with the big, powerful France, Scotland hopes for them to send out a relief force to throw you out. Like that would ever happen! *grinding teeth in frustration of worthless allies*

Try to make peace with all other nations of Scotlands alliance, and then they'll succumb. Or at least make peace with France. If France is the Alliance Leader you can still make separate peace with them - just click on the shield of France in the peace-window to alter your offer from peace-offer to a separate peace. Good luck!
:)

IIRC the method he describes works in EU1 too. It is one of the many things the manual forgot to mention.:)

I don't know if this is true with IGC, but in standard EU1 in peace negotiations the 'leader of the alliance' is the member involved in the original declaration of war. So even if you formed the alliance, if you go to war to aid one of your minors they control the final peace talks (unless they get forcibly annexed). But I've never had this problem of not being able to annex a minor when I contol all their provinces. Are you sure you haven't overlooked something, like I did when I forgot Palatinat owned a province in southern France in my game?

Thanks for the info. I never knew you could click on the sheild of the alliance leader and ask for a seperate peace. I tried a seperate peace with France who was the alliance leader. They had 1 star or grave against me because they took Calis and I as England won many naval battles against them. I offered them a seperate peace by offering them Calis but they didnt accept the offer. (those stubborn Frenchies) I wasnt able to get a seperate peace with them but I did finally retake Calis. After I retook Calis Scotland accepted my offer of annexation. I then accepted peace with France by paying them 54 ducats.

If I would have been able to get a seperate peace with France who would become the alliance leader or would I just have to make peace offers to all the nations that I am at war with?

Thank you for all your help:D :D :D

Great that things worked out for you in the end BB KING!:)

If you make a separate peace with the alliance leader, a new alliance leader arises among the remaining alliance. How it is decided who'll become the new alliance leader I am not sure. Just try it out and see what happens!

Geez... Nice thing to know.

A monarch can say no, and then yes the following month, to an annexation offer, even when the situation hasn't changed at all. After a few times, they usually accept, no matter if they have a big army somewhere else on the map or not.

May it be that the current HRE may not be force annexed?
I ask this because in my current IGC Venice game I've several times (during the many BB wars) marched upon Wien (last Austria province) and they never accepted being annexed, even when they had no allies.

You go to the scenario depot, downloads. there you have all kinds of home made scenarios to download including the IGC.

If annexing other nations is what youre after you can also open the scenario eug file and delete the nation descriptions for those nations you dont want to be majors/playable, thus you can annex them.

Heck... It looks like Im stalking you thomash87 :D
