For those that have mended the Great Schism

Has anyone else had the following issue?
I mended the great schism in one game as the Byzantines, but now in all of my subsequent unrelated games as anything, the schism is still mended. I've been playing as Rus trying to form the Russian Empire and having a really hard time of it because Poland, Hungary and the HRE have been tag-teaming Galicia and the other small principalities that I still need to absorb, and I don't have enough levies available to do anything much about it -- I could take Poland on alone, but not all of them at once. It's quite vexing really, it must be a bug.
