First thread and post. :p

So this is an expansion pack for EU2 or something? According to Johan's thread it's based off of the EU2 mod AGCEEP. If it were an expansion for EU3 I doubt it'd get its own forum area.

Of course, it could be neither and could be a standalone game based on a heavily modified EU2 engine thanks to the release of the source code a few months back.

Looks like the product of one of those groups working on the EU2 source. I'm rather interested in seeing what they've done, to be honest, although with the current state of EU3 and MMP, it's hard to see how I could go back to EU2.

Yes, this is a new game based on the Europa Engine. Our goal was adding what was missing in EU2 while keeping the spirit of the game.

In few words:
fully reworked database for almost unlimited moddability (extended number of countries, unlimited number of religions, cultures, terrains, goods, technologies, ...) and free timeframe from 0 to...
reworked interface including playable political mapmode, support of all resolutions including wide screens, and many more...
reworked script engine with extended commands and conditions
reworked and integrated support of mods
reworked other games mechanisms

AGCEEP will be bundled with the game but will not replace vanilla scenarios. You will see in details what we have changed in future dev diaries.

Probably the case, and if so, congratulations to creators! Sounds awesome.
Thanks

MichaelM, Wreck, Garbon, GeneralSnoopy, Dietmar1982 and I worked hard on it... and beta testing will begin very soon.

Congratulations YodaMaster for achieving this very ambitious project ! Félicitations ! :)
Is there an ETA yet ?
Thanks

The game should be published during Q4 2009... before Christmas!

Great, hopefully this will revive the EU2 community. I have EU3 but I can't get into it no matter what. AGCEEP has spoiled me with thousands upon thousands of historical events. :D
Even if AGCEEP is more single player focused, we don't forget multiplayer community.

EU3 and FTG (learn the acronym :) ) are two different games for different play styles. They are both complementary and there is room for both of them.

When the game will be published, there will be another suprise but Garbon is the one to ask for.

Nice, a top-level forum even!

Now I'm off to change my sig...

You say that the game is based on the Europa engine. Do you mean Europa Universalis II engine?

If this game uses the old engine : ! My computer is so old... I can't play with EU III...

Will you use a new map with more provinces?

Yeah, EU2 based.

Dietmar1982 is too busy celebrating on the Victoria 2 forum to show up here. :D

I dont know, this may be a strategy to win back the players lost in the translation from eu2 to eu3... It seems a very bizarre thing to do though. Its like Ubisoft would release a standalone expansion to Anno 1701 three years after Anno 1404 got out...

No problem with "old" PIV and 512 MiB RAM, even with all the new features.

Will you use a new map with more provinces?
This will come with future versions of AGCEEP. When game will be published, community will be able to adapt the mod to the new map and new features. Map is still in Garbon's hands but our goal is (and ever was) clear. We will thus be able to break all EU2 limits at one time, AGCEEP remaining of course free.

Adapting the biggest mod ever will not be easy. In between, all other mapmods will be fully compatible with only required adaptation of scenarios and setup file. One day should be sufficient for this.
