Fb-fb:
At last! The Isles are yours, if not directly yet, it is in practice. Good job so far.
It was nice getting them as my vassals, no doubt about it!
Congratulations! Huzzah for Scotland.
But what are you going to do about the pesky Portuguese presence in Ireland? Surely you will want to eventually remove them.
I would like to, but for now they remain good allies. I was not ready to tear that asunder just yet.
Nice. Now friendly them up and make sure to add them into your alliance! You don't want to have to risk Portugal declaring war on them and facing the dilemma of -3 stab to fight your vassal or -1 stab and dishonoring your alliance.
Interesting map. Granada is still around. And big Transylvania (?) as a result of the Ottos overrunning the Hungary that annexed Poland.
Making friends with England was very tough in this period.
Only 15.2 I'm envious.

England's taken care of but what's next? I will follow stnylan's lead in my AAR and say "Why, then, the world's mine oyster, Which I with sword will open".
Joe
Hey - you have BB and I have inflation. Yours drops much quicker.

As for afters...keep reading.
Excellent!
Time to circle the wagons for a while? Or more of the same with a new target?
Well, we had to deal with a regency so thankfully I didn't have to fight anyone immediately...except for rebels.
i wonder how the new AI would have played it ?
I patched up so we'll see.
Congratulations for your victory!
But your BB is getting a bit dangerous.
Nice to see that Poland is back, the map is quite realistic and historical (if you except the British Isles.
It's higher than I would like, but manageable.
What is your difference in land tech comparing with majors?
Actually, not too far away. Lower, certainly but I have been keeping pace fairly well. it's those CRT lvls that kill.
Most excellent coz! But now that England is out of the way, what will you do?
Not out of the way just yet.
Excellent development. You have crushed the English for the last time I think, because now that they are your vassals you can sit back, relax and wait for time to pass by and then you can annex them peacefully. So what is next maybe you should start planning for a new Scottish empire on the continent or in the new world?
That is the goal, yes. I wish the game would leave me be to try it.
Great work. I think your future lies westward, especially with that BB so high that continental adventures would be risky. The only question is how to colonize...
If you move your slider towards naval, you might get an explorer (unfortunately I think you have no historical ones until you form GB)...
If only map trading were more successful! You could try France - their explorers must be firing soon, and even England, once relations are high, might have some in the next few decades.
That is true - a nice period of rest would be great if I could find some place to colonize. As for trading partners, those are some good ideas.
I say England's existence is a diplomatic insult to you!

Looks like you're going to be forced to make that religious change soon. Let's home it doesn't annoy the French and Portuguese too much - at least you have no borders with them.
The religious issue is paramount. Much more so than England. It gets worse.
Mmmh Austria is growing fast...
It seems that it won't be easy to diploannex the English.
No, not easy at all. If I want to at all just yet.
Nice progress, since you are safe on the Isles now, you could wait untill Portugal i isolated and then attack them, gaining the last Irish province and their precious maps of the new world!
True, though I want to trade with them now. Once I have an in with the new world, I can consider changing relations with my allies.
I used a table similar to that (but not that one exactly) when reviewing the religion section for the FtG 1.0 manual, so that info should be pretty much correct. If I remember correctly, the changes I had to make mostly regarded adding info for the new religions (Hussites, etc.). The manual doesn't have specific numbers for everything, but should give you guidelines where numbers aren't included. (Statements like "a bonus in production efficiency," for example.)
It was a tough choice...I can say that I played it through and found out first hand which does what.
Does not Reformed also have a moral bonus?
I'll let Brian answer below since I really don't know.
So, England humbled and netted, and just a matter of time before beign made an offer they shall not refuse.
You might think that...they could have different ideas.
Looks right. If I'm uncertain of anything on there, its the production bonus for Catholic countries... I've always thought Catholicism was the standard by which the other numbers were judged... It looks like the piece in the manual mentioning a production bonus was unchanged from the original template. I'm thinking there was a reason to believe it was true and leave it in, but right now I'm not certain what that reason is, so to be honest I have to give you an "I don't know" on that point.

o The other information should be correct though.
Does not Reformed also have a moral bonus?
No. I had always thought that was the case as well. I remember specifically going into the game and testing to find out that there isn't one. Just load up Netherlands in the 1700 scenario. Click on one of your armies and hover the pointer over the morale bar in the information window. You'll see what makes up your morale -- the "Religion modifier: 0.00" means no bonus for that religion. CrC countries by contrast will have a religion modifier adding 0.50 to the morale.
I thought that was a bit odd for Catholicism myself. Going Prot should give you a financial bonus just taking over church lands, at least in tax. Production? Yeah, probably there too. Staying Catholic should probably be the mean at that point in time.
I'm a little surprised at how little the minus stability seems to affect you. It seems to be less of a problem in FTG than the other versions of EU. Especially since you're playing AGCEEP which has a reputation for not liking the player staying below 0 stability.
Any problem using the new patch with a saved game?
Joe
You might be confusing AGCEEP with Magna Mundi for EUIII which was very nasty at low stab. EUII and FtG seem to be much the same - as long as your RR isn't too high, the rebels will stay home. It's the financial burden that low stab gives that
is effecting me.
I have not had any troubles with the new patch. Thank goodness.
With all these diplomatic incidents with the English I fear it will be very difficult to annex them peacefully, maybe you should just start a new war and crush them once and for all. That will probably be cheaper and easier than trying to increase your relations…
Inded, every time I get them to -175, I get a dip insult taking me back to -200. It is frustrating.
+1. Indeed, but it's going to be very costly, in terms of stability and soldiers.
If we fight, which may need to be the end result. I am hoping for an event, actually. Not as easy, in truth. I still can't figure out the damn event track between the 2 countries.
Khem, where?
What is that monster in Transylvania then`?
Ah, yeah, this is Hungary (which annexed Poland) became Transylvania
That area has been a mess. The tan is Transylvania, yes. It is the remnants of Hungary and a vassal to the Turk, I believe.
Just keep 'em under the cosh till the 1700s, let them colonize away and then GB 'em!
From the best I can tell in the event track, this is the best idea, really.
So finally revenge has been enacted for the humiliation of vassalization during the reign of James I. Congratulations!
It was rather amusing to behold such stats for a 6-day old girl. Maybe she whines and cries so much and so loud that people would give in to any of her demands just to make her stop. I know this works well for my daughter.
Regarding the question on religion: now that England is Catholic again, won't your relations to England be hurt if you change to Protestantism? In the end, your people will dictate which religion you should chose. Maybe if you wait for 10 years after the majority of your provinces have converted for the first time? then you will at least see if more provinces convert or maybe even some of them will convert back.
In any case, remaining Catholic for a s long as possible to improve relations with England would be a goal for me.
You have shown that you can crush them on the battle field. Now before they start proclaiming that the pen is mightier than the sword, diploannex them and prove that your pen, too, is bigger then theirs.
Indeed, I was a little curious why Mary didn't get regent stats. I'll take them though, especially with a nice excellent minister. As for religion, I am waiting for the bulk to change as you suggested. As well, I am waiting on England to decide what they want to be.
However, with the period of history just around the corner this could be tricksy...
Indeed, I don't get much choice in the end. Shhh...this should remain a surprise.
Well for me it's still a little early for Christmas shopping. I usually wait until the 23th before I start shopping.

Works out great. Less people to contend with and some pretty good deals.
Joe
I used to do that. Worked out well when coming home from Chicago. Now, I hate to even go near the malls when it's past the 20th. Traffic in Atlanta...too many damn people...nothing of great worth there in the first place...
Every year I swear I am going to get presents for my loved ones throughout the year and every year I find myself scrambling at the last minute. What is that definition of insanity again?
I used to be ace at Christmas shopping on the 24th. Then I had kids and realised that I can no longer justifiably leave it that late
That would do it too.
So glad you have the Saltire now. I hate looking at the royal standard of scotland, blech! You are doing very well for yourself. Hopefully you do not get pulled into a costly and disastrous war of religion. try to stay out of it and colonize.
I was pleased to get that too. It's a bit prettier to me.
One more reason to convert to reformed! A Cromwellian-style Puritan revolution would mean no need for Christmas shopping at all!
Hopefully, most of us will be too busy to expect lots of updates anyway. Good luck shopping and enjoy the festivities!
Indeed, I did not do too well this week.
Can't wait for the next update.
Coming tomorrow.
No worries coz1!
We are all in the same boat. Post when you can. BTW: I restarted my Scotland campaign and followed your path, and am now at 1528 with the whole British Isles in Scotland blue!!! Now thinking of plunging south to take Brittany. I am not sure how to do a screenie. If you let me know how, I will post it.
THX
Plunge...indeed, plunge.
Press F11 while in the game. Go to your FtG directory and you'll see a file that says something like ScreenSave0.bmp. Convert that there bitmap into a jpg and head over to imageshack...
Alternately you could use the Print Screen button and paste the result into MS Paint. That's really the long way around - but sometimes necessary for showing historical events and such.
Thanks for the assist.
Alright. I take back everything I wrote about staying Catholic to improve relations with England. This reason beats any other.
Take your time with Christmas shopping. We don't want you to fall or slip and break a leg ... or an arm!
I guess most of us will spend Christmas with lots of family and few opportunities to access the internet and much less to actually read something on the internet.
So while your updates will be missed, few will have the time to articulate their feelings of loneliness in subtle words (such as "UPADTE, UPDATE, UPDATE!!!") on the forums. Though this will change once our kids start reading AARs.
I am waiting for the day the real second generation of AAR readers shows up. It will be fascinating.
Don't forget to show us your inflation.
yeah, that is the most fun part of this AAR
Thanks Brian. I am going to give this a go. I hope it works..........
[Scroll up for pic - coz1]
If it works, happy viewing. Please don't notice my BB score.
Very nice, Fookison! I wish I could have done that. I don't know how you got around their large stacks early but I applaud the effort, especially without breaking the bank. By the next century, you should be in a very nice place indeed.
Just caught up. I like the nice new flag, it is rather smart. Also what is with the choices in some of the events. A revolt in Strathclyde or a revolt in Strathclyde and -3 stability? Who in their right mind would choose the second option.
I am wondering if there is a later benefit from taking the neg stab hit there. Don't know but that would the only reason to choose that.
@ Fookison:
Pretty good job and only 22% inflation, well done!
Yeah...what's the fun of conquering the English if you don't have a lifetime of inflation to show for it?
To all - I will be around in the morning before heading off for family time and the pics are ready to go. Need to wrap some late presents tonight after answering some fb here. Have to cook a casserole tomorrow however, so that's an easy 40 minutes I have to put together the update.
Merry Christmas!
