The 7th of November 1939
Deep inside the moodily lit heart of Nazi Germany a sealed casket has been delivered from the frozen wasteland of eastern Finland and has been recieved by a group of senior SS officers and doctors. The senior doctor breaks the hushed, almost reverential, silence.
"I like the new moody lighting, far better than the old darkness."
"Thank you Herr doctor." The senior SS man answered.
"But aren't elaborate candle chandeliers a bit inappropriate for an evil mad science bunker?"
"These chandeliers are freshly looted from the largest cathedral in Poland, you don't get much more sacrilegious than that!" The second SS man retorted.
"Ok so they are unholy I'll grant you, but they just don't create the right atmosphere. I mean we do work that offends all right thinking people, not just the religous, around here."
"Ahh, but look closer my dear doctor." The first SS man replied enigmatically
The doctor stared intently at the chandelier before gasping in horror
"Mein Gott! They're not real candles, they can't be they don't melt! They must be synthetic with no wax in them at all! Thats...."
"An abomination?" The second SS man suggested.
"A crime against the laws of man and god?" The senior officer asked
"Yes! They're all of that and more!!" The scientist screamed
"So totally appropriate for the work we do." The senior SS man concluded triumphantly.
The doctor calmed slightly before admiting
"Good point, well made."
"We thought so." The senior SS man said smugly before continuing. "Onto more important matters, can you rebuild him?"
"No."
"What do you mean no?"
"Let me put it this way." The doctor explained "The first time we rebuilt him he became the Six Million Turkish Lira Man, he's now worth about four."
"Million lira?"
"No four lira total. There's not enough left of him to rebuild."
