For EU3..consider switching distributors?

Have you guys noticed that no stores are promoting it, and that no websites have EU2 under "upcoming release" on the front page (you have to search for it), or under "hot picks" (even though reviews you might search for on the same site give it super ratings...)?
It's like they have put no interest in making the game release a sucess.

Yes, the real cause of "sleeper" hits is that they are in fact distributed by morons.

No game as good as EU 2 should sleep as long as EU 2 will.

Change distributors, pronto.

Look on the bright side, The distributor saves money on ads! Perhaps Paradox gets to pocket some of that money saved!

Strategy First *did* put a full-color EU2 ad on PC Gamer magazine..... the largest circulation pc games mag in the USA

The first time I found out about EU1...was when I happened to wander by a "price reduced" bin in Target... 3 months after it came out! And the sad thing was... I had been actively looking for a new game all season!

that was not a price reduction bin, it was the abandoned SF marketing cart for EU1!

Strategy First, also has a very small number of outlets to sell the game compared to other companies. They only sold eu in three different retail stores, and did not sell it in places like Walmart or Staples where most other distributors sell their games.

Im not sure if it was Stratgey First who made the CD Case, but it was cheap as crap for EU. No cover, cheapest plastic there is.


I dont see why you paradox should continue with Strategy First, there a sub-standard distrubiter which always ships there games late and doesn't even change there webpage.

Paradox is still a relatively young company without a string of "big" titles behind it (yet!).
They cannot just pick a distributor, they have to tout the product around and see who will offer to distribute it. They took what was on offer at the time. Get all your friends, relatives, enemies to buy EU2 - a Big sale count will give them more say for the next game............

I know that some of you know but others dont.

I was especially dismayed at the thought of Ubisoft doing the UK distribution - I dont have much regard for them at all!
I just hope that they pull their fingers out on this one and do a good job. Hopefully Paradox will be in a stronger position for the next game and will get offers from better dealers

I respect your opinion, but did you have more confidence in our distributor for EU1, Koch Distribution? Would you say Ubisoft is going up in the foodchain or going down? I would like to know.

It's a bit of both Fredrik, just like in Music. U2 made Island records while at the same time they made U2. Great product gives the maker more power but the distributer also moves up the chain and next time can afford a bigger marketing campaign. Is it then wiser to switch to a new larger distributor with no interest in your product besides a $x profit coming in, or the smaller distributor who was "made" by this product and now wants to stake its entire future on its sequel or somehting like that?
